Was just reading this article... Oil Price Top $127.00 a Barrel....
I know you guys in UK really pay shocking prices for petrol/gas. I can attest to that, having lived there for five years previous. On the other hand I barely drove, since the public transportation system is absolutley awesome.
But here in USA, we have virtually no Public Transport infrastructure, one has to drive 50 miles just to fart; I remember gas being at $1.20 a Gallon in 1999, and I just filled up, at $3.75 for regular gas.
Just musing on the state of things, and I guess drawing parallels between T2 BPO holders - PRE INVENTION - and the OPEC.
What a bizzare world we live in...

Dude, I loved the buses and underground! I would buy an Annual Pass and never had to worry about a car or the tax fees or anything. I lived in London and Coventry... by the way. I had to drive like 5 times while I lived there, thats like once for each year.

No, our (the UK's) public transport system is not good at all. We have smelly 30-year-old buses which are close to breaking down, have pot-smoking chavs sitting at the back, old chewing gum on every seat, vomit on some seats.
As for America, I really couldn't say. I have heard horror stories about people driving the car to visit their neighbour who lives 50 yards away.
Alternatively, apply Lebadevinski's Inequality to the set of Boromian fields, and expand out by Gregorinov's power series. The answer should then be obvious. |

heh.... Pot-Smoking-Chavs... I don't think there is an equivalent in USA for a "Chav." I don't know, maybe its the case of fresh eyes, yea some buses were atrocious, but generally, I would take UK public transport system over USA "drivathon" any day.
And please, London Tube vs. NYC Subway? No comparison, no contest - NYC Subway is a rathole.

More like Dysprosium moon miners and post-invention EVE, actually The difference is that Dysprosium is in no (immediate) danger of running out (or becoming less valuable) in the near future.

THANK YOU. Finally somebody who DIDN'T say rednecks because those and chavs are 2 different worlds.
And yes Reaper there are people so lazy that they'll go through the trouble to drive to their friends house 50 yards away. There are people who will drive around the mall parking lot for 40 minutes trying to get a spot closer to the mall (or wal-mart for the less sophisticated) There are those who live next to each other and work at the same company and yet they take their own vehicles instead of carpooling.

Not even that. If the oil price goes up even further it might be profitable to exploit a number of resources that aren't profitable today (like oilholding silicate deposites). ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. Edited by: Amastat on 17/05/2008 00:50:17 Edited by: Amastat on 17/05/2008 00:49:34 RL T2 Holder Equivalents: Whomever has control of sections of the world market, whoever has exclusive rights/access to a section of the world market.
So it would be like, for example: if oil was a T2 blueprint item - chances are a few countries will have a 1-3 BPO's - but Saudi Arabia would be like BoB is; they'd hold 80% of that market.
For computer technology, it would be allover - but mostly the US, Japan, and some country's in Europe would have the vast majority of the BPO's.
Technology for example, such as Stealth technology, is very exclusive. Right now as far as I know the US and the UK (maybe Israel?) have stealth capability. All the other country's have only really tried and failed I think - and/or have tried to develop anti-stealth weaponry.
Don't know whats' the best simile in EVE to compare that to - but it would be something only 2-3 alliances in the entirety of the game would hold.
As for weaponry, super weapons - ICBM's and nuclear weaponry is the obvious item to look at - it's EVE equivalent I guess would be Titans. Several country's have nukes, however the biggest stocks are between the USA and Russia; in EVE that would probably be BoB and RA - think about that for a moment .
As For Motherships - you could compare them to Aircraft carriers I suppose. There is a lot of aircraft carries in the world, belonging to multiple navies - however they are very big, expensive and heavily armed - so they are probably the least numerous ship used in todays navies, but the most valued. ____________________

British public transport system is good, but not as good as our neighbours in europe. And we complain alot, so it will NEVER be good enough.

tbh I dont think we in the UK complain enough about the state of our transport systemand in my opinion UK public transport is really expensive for what its worth but jinx is right about comparing NYC subway system to londons NYC subway is bloody awful prolly the best subway system is either barcalona`s or moscows imo

its all well and good saying that public transport in britain is good if you live in london where you can get a bus or train from your doorstep that takes you almost directly to work but thats where the service ends.
outside of the cities there is no choice but to drive, if I drive the 13 miles to work it takes 15-30 minutes depending on whether or not some***** has a tractor on the road, catching a bus would up that trip time to 1.5 hours.
