The game mechanics are one thing, but letting one group of players grief one of your best game cash cows (ei EVE University, that draws in and keeps multitudes of new players) is just foolish. At some point CCP has to draw lines and protect new players whether they are in a corp or not. Privateers, many of them, are just losers in the game looking for easy "ganks" so they are ruining the game for others and CCP is losing money because of it. So let me repeat: TRAPS war decced some noob corp (as they are known to do), that noob corp joined Eve Uni hoping for someone to hide behind. Eve Uni accepted them knowing full well that they were accepting a corp that was being war decced. Thus, Eve Uni are the ones responsible for THEIR actions, and no one else. Ofc the small pirate corp of TRAPS were no match for Eve Uni and they posted on this forum perhaps for help? (I know cause I posted in that thread). I believe TRAPS used to be in the Privateers Alliance back in the day, so they had good relations with them. Privateers then answered TRAPS call for help. Eve Uni are the ones that got themselves into this problem, and I have no sympathy for them. Don't get me wrong, I think what Eve Uni does is a great thing and a great service to the Eve community; but that is not an excuse for them not being accountable for THEIR actions. If they just stayed out of other people's business and did their own thing, they would not be in this situation. If they want to play the hero, then they need to face all that comes with that responsibility. === In Eve, never bring a knife to a knife fight.

Privateers has been capped, this is why we choose Eve-Uni, they at least undock and fight now and then which is much more than many other alliances stuck in the train of thought that PvP only occurs in 0.0 where they can drop 3 motherships and a couple of titans on any tresspassers. As for Eve-University teaching new players how to fight, I disagree. They teach people to fight with a blob and to match each enemy ship with at least one dedicated EW ship plus the rest. Take a look at the general consensus of opinion concerning how combat is performed typically in 0.0 and maybe you will start to agree that taking Eve-University and their school of thought out of the equation could only be a good thing for Eve as a whole. That isn't to say that Privateers will do that, Eve-Uni is in no danger at all, you're claims that they are heading for disaster is melodramatic balloonary at it's best. Thunk

Because they really don't need it. The op is plainly a scammer (!) and is ** stirring cos let's face it eve uni and wardecs is a touchy subject and easily sets a *** fight off. But your right, it was actually traps who whined for help and privs, who had been screwing about with the uni long before the wardec began for real (I recall one strange attempt where a privs alt applied to join and then started inviting privs into a convo with a recuitment officier, trying to get a fight going, lmfao) that used it as an excuse to wardec, cos they desperately needed targets. that said yeah, eve uni accepting a wardecced corp (err hello neutrality!) was asking for it lol.

I freely admit, I know almost nothing about the University, except that they have an undeserved high reputation among the community. They teach nothing but carebear stuff. Privateer alliance has always been a lose lose thing for EVE, put a cap on them already. check killboards and wardecs before you make stuff up ;] and speaking of 'easy ganks'. that's what 90% of eve population is looking for. the 'we won't engage untill we can outblob you' policy has been employed by many alliances and corps alike. also, privateers have a very simple philosophy. empire war fun. eve uni will at least get a taste of high sec pew pew before they move on. too many people take piloting spaceships too seriously. it's not like you're gonna die if you get podded =)

Seems like a double standard. Also Eve Uni isn't CCP's cash cow, it's an in game alliance and therefore is part of the game. CCP must and does treat Eve Uni as every other alliance in the game. They only train people, maybe they get a few people to actually join Eve, but probably not many. Eve Uni will die eventually, whether it's from this war (probably not but that would be cool) or, more likely, from the passage of time. Will you say CCP has "epic failed" because they didn't have a game mechanic that forces people to constantly play?

TBH I can't see that they'd have ever gotten that high reputation in the first place, if they didn't give noobs at least a bit of "proper" PvP training.
