Hi,
Has anyone else noticed that after training a skill it resets to the previous level.
This morning I trained Research to level 1 then level 2 and had just started to train to level 3 (had been training towards level 3 for 10 minutes) when I got an evemail saying level 1 had just completed and my skill had been reset to level 1. |

i think yu should petition this if u havent done it. This could be catastrophic(spellcheck) if it happens to the wrong skill.

happened to me too I lost 10 hours training!!! I've cancelled my 6 months plan no point to play a game that doens't let me play.

Erm...why is that silly me?
I have tried various things like switching skills/relogging/waiting during dt/aborting a skill and starting another/trying on another computer. They all imply my skill level has dropped. Even the eve web site says my skill is level 1.
It was very weird to get an evemail saying I had completed training to level 1 whilst I was training to level 3 at the time (which then reset my skill to level 1).

I do not believe this is the normal graphics bug that everyone knows about since it is showing on multiple computers and my normal fix of switching skills did not work.
I have never had evemails before implying I had finished a skill level lower than the one I was currently training before with the known graphical bug.
FYI: Sequence of events:
1. Train skill to level 1.
2. Get an evemail saying it si complete
3. Train skill to level 2.
4. Get evemail saying it is complete
5. Train skill to level 3.
6. Get an evemail 10 mins later whilst training level 3 saying level 1 is complete and my skill has reset to level 1.

I have also been getting this error across several different skills. I have been advised that deleting my cache may solve the problem.... i will give it a go and let you all know

If you are having the graphical glitch problem that has been around a while then deleting the cache might help. But if you are having the problem me and a load of others are having then it won't help as the problem is server end I believe since I have tried it on 2 computers and verified on eve website that my skills are wrong.

I've verified on the website too it is NOT a graphical cache bug! it reset my skill back to 2!

yep, sigh, ive lost my lvl 5 electronics, possibly others. This is the only one ive noticed. cleared cache, doesnt help. EvE site also says my electronics 5 is at lvl 4...
An offical response and eta to a fix would be great, i understand they are busy, but even a "we are working on it" would put me at ease. Only took me 2.4seconds to type it, im sure even if they are swamped, they could have the janitor post it.

This behaviour has occured on both my accounts, I get the resetting of lvls on my n00b, but more annoyingly, I switched (didn't choose abort) from training Galente Indy V to train lvl 0->1 mass production, when I switched back to Galente Indy V, it reset back to lvl IV, so I had to start all over again.
OK, I'd only just started training Indy V and I've lost 3 days of training and I'll get over it, but I've not had this behaviour since beta, I must be thankful that I didn't lost 17 days or that it didn't set the number back to a negative 
Worth petitioning? Any advice on what type of petition as I generally only file stuck.

Ok i have done more investigating on this bug.
DT does not fix it. Diff comp does not fix it. Clearing cache does not fix it. It is also displayed bugged on site info.
I noticed that my gunnery seemed a little higher then normal, but thought nuthing of it, so i procedded to add all skill point totals together. They do equal my total number of skill points.
My total SP for electronics is 154,175, it should be 358,258. So im missing 204,083.

Electronic Warfare / Rank 2 / SP: 2380 of 2829 level
Long Range Targeting / Rank 2 / SP: 2829 of 16000 level
Targeting / Rank 1 / SP: 45255 of 256000 level

However i should have Electronics lvl 5. (trained it over 6 months ago to lvl 5) the skill points here do add up though.

If u add these all up, u will get the 2nd number (3.1mill) but it states that i have 3.25mill. So when i add up all totals it does equal my total number of skillpoints, so the points i had in electronics are somehow displaying here. And the exact number im missing from electronics lvl 5(204,083). Is the exact difference that has been added to gunnery total. But these 204,083sp are not in gunnery, only in the totals info.
Sorry for the long post. Just trying to give as much info as possible. Hope this helps.
*edit* Actually i only have approx 140k extra in gunnery, so i must have another 50k extra SP in another skill list, will try and find out then edit again.

this just happend to me with my science lvl'ing, it lvl'ed lvl 1 and 2 perfectly, I turned on lvl 3 and it worked just fine.
but after I pressed the reproces button of an item, I suddenly got a message saying that training of lvl 1 science is completed and I lost my skill points.
this wasn't a big loss(a hour) but it is still not fun.
hope some dev guys see this or mayby we should send a bug report.

This bug happened to me with Refining and it really sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trained to lvl 1 then 2. Started 3 then was demoted to lvl 1. There is a topic in the support section of the website about this and it should be fixed by May 4th. Im' retraining now to lvl 3, let's hope im lucky since im offline maybe nothing will happen?

This happened to me to. I trained Gallente Frigate from lvl2 to lvl3, I got the eve-mail saying training was complete and started training another skill.
Then when I checked back after a couple of hours my Gallente Frigate skill was back at lvl2, I immediately thought about this bug people mentioned. But I got a bit unsure if I remembered it correctly and just restarted training Gallente Frigate to lvl3.
After a couple of hours I get a Charisma Implant I wanted to plug in and before you plug in implants you have to abort all training. And when I aborted skill training my Gallente Frigate skill jumped right up to lvl3 in an instant.
So for you people that have problems could you please try this and tell us here if that solves your problems. Restart training the skill that you have problems with, and then abort that training.

Aborting the skill only fixes the old problem of the skill not being displayed properly - not the one where the skill level does drop (i.e. you get an evemail saying you have competed skill to a lower level than you are currently training). Most of the ppl who think they have lost a skill have not and are suffering from the same display glitch that you mentioned. However there are a few ppl that have actually lost skill levels from this newer bug from what I can tell.

I have also had this problem. I trained Drones to level 1, then trained mining drones to level 1. Both skills completed. I then went to train scout drones to level 1 but got a message saying that I need Drones level 1. I checked my Character sheet which listed the skill but said I had no skill points in it. I trained it again to level 1 and then to level 2 only to get a further email when I had finished saying I had once more trained Drones to level 1. After training 3 times it now says still says I am on level 1.

If you folks have not already, EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD THIS HAPPEN NEEDS TO WRITE AN PETITION IN-GAME. I canĘt stress this enough. GMs and Devs DO NOT read this forum regularly and posting here is no substitute for a petition.
So far this hasnĘt happen to me, but one of my corp mates brought it to my attention as he last a dayĘs worth of training and waited until after DT to confirm this was a real loss and not a graphical issue. IĘm hoping it gets sorted in the next day as I have long skills training and would like to interrupt them, but I sure wonĘt if this is going oną.

I'm just confirming that this has happened to me aswell. It is definately not a graphical glitch although I have started getting those aswell now for the first time since I started playing, I can only assume the two bugs are related.
By the sounds of it once you get the dreaded 'second EVE-mail' telling you you've finished a previously learned skill then it becomes permanent.
In the grand scheme of things missing 12-24 hours of training time isn't the worst thing that can happen but I've always told myself, I can put up with most bugs that EVE has to offer but if it ever affects my skill points then I will seriously have to reconsider my subscription which would be a crying shame. 
Does anyone know if the GM's have the tools to 'add' skill levels to characters? Has anyone ever received reimbursements for lost skills points before?

This is a bug. I've lost 500k skill points, and will also be cancelling my account. If not reimbursed.
I've had it with all their bugs, I do not mind losing my ships and implants and other things due to bugs. However, losing my training time is not something I'm willing to accept.

I got the same problem . When i completed Battleship lvl 2 I got a mail telling me i have completed lvl 1 
Now I have two mails saying i have completed lvl 1 . Something has got to be done about this . We go to the trouble to learn these skills and are not awarded them , what sort of game is that.Its not fun I know that much.Shall I bother to learn it again ? I might just to see how many BS lvl 1 completion mails i can collect . It might turnout to be more fun than playing EVE it self.

This is actually an old beta problem. Usually it can be solved by switching back and forth between the skills. There will be times in which the unfortunate result is a person being screwed.
This is just an observation I have made. I have nothing to back this up. It seems that once the skill trains completely to whatever lvl you've lost. Eample, retraining lvl 3 after you regressed from training lvl 4. Then all your previous work is lost. So my advice would be to make sure the skill isn't regressing, and if it is regressing, do not train it back through. Switch the skill over to another skill and try swapping back a few times. If that fails to solve your problem, petition, and train a skill which is advancing properly.
Hopefully that is helpful.

Whatever is causing this is damm annoying. I just had my Cruiser skill set back a level in the same way. Got a new evemail saying I had just trained Cruiser level 2 ( still have first copy showing reaching level 2 ) and it dropped me back both in game and on the char info back from level 3 to the start of level 2. I suppose compared to some of you losing level 5 skills losing 40,000pts (23hours) isn't quite so bad, but this is a bug that needs priority attention. There isn't any point in playing if yuo can just randomly lose blocks of skills like this. I can't fly my ship now for 23 hours so basically may as well just log off and wait to see what happens.
This isn't the display bug (which is annoying enough) or the skills not updating bug(again annoying). This is actually losing a skill you had and were using and being set to a new lower level and losing all your skillpoints.
The skill system has all sorts of problems atm and needs fixing.

had the same problem trained gallente frigate lvl 3 twice.
had a petition response stating that it would be fixed yesterday but it wasnt fixed for me.
there was also some dev response in another thread somewhere stating it would be fixed yesterday dunno where anymore.
probably wont happen again but to bad for last skillpoints or something |

i have had that with multiple characters it even happened to me on chaos! i was doing a 6 hour skill which then reset back to lvl 2 from 3 they should fix this bug very soon or it may result in people leaving!

I've had a similar (same?) bug, had to train Signature Analysis 4 times to level 1 before it had actually been trained to level 1.
Each time the training for level 1 finished, I immediately started training for the level 2, and it showed "training to level 2", but when I'd check a few minutes later, it showed me only a few minutes until completion of level 1. I guess I spent about 80 minutes until I had it trained on level 1, instead of about 16 minutes or something like that... :(
Only happened to me with that one skill and only that one night though.

I had this too. It was High Speed Engineering. I think the server does stop the raining to early.
For me it helped to start the skill again some points train and then change to a skill in the same group.
It seems always i change from a skill in one group (e.g. Navigation here) i trained to another skill in another group (e.g. Drones i wanted then) it jumps back to the level before.
Now i always shortly switch the skill training to a skill in the same group before switching to the new skill.
But yesterday the bug still was there i think.
So hope it helps a bit. Amara

I have had this issue also, thought I was doing something wrong. Fortunately it was on level 1 skills, and the same one. My rockets skill just wouldnt take, Thought maybe my character was just not smart enough, but thats not it!!!!

Just had my first experience with this bug... Spent 2 days and 10 hours training Mining to level 4 so I could use the Miner II's... Skill completed, then reset to 3.
Petition filed.
If this crap happens more often, especially to level 4 or 5 skills, I won't be extending my 14 day former-beta-tester account like I'd planned. I don't actually remember this bug being in the beta, and it sure as hell shouldn't be there a year after release.
I spoke too hastily... After an hour of it sitting on 3 (and being unable to fit my Miner II's), I decided to try logging out and ten in again... That fixed it. The miners went on the ship and all was well with the world again.

I've also had this problem, but I think I found a solution, potentially. How many of you that experienced this had your character sheets open at the time? Because I had that happen two or three times recently, but never when I had my char sheet open. I'm wondering if somehow there's a message passing problem between client and server which can account for this.
I'd also like to note that its not happened again, ever since I stopped leaving my character sheet open as skills finished training.

I was training a skill to level3. shouldve been completed in the morning but instead it had gone right back to the start that level.
This bug is definatley not the same as the graphical bug which was simply annoying.

Glad I spotted this thread - I was going mad with this problem. The first couple I wasn't sure if it was my memory. I have had at least 4 skills misbehaving, and retrained a couple of them. I know my total points do not match actual points recorded on individual skills. CCP, a petition is heading your way.

I had a situation happen once to me where I stopped a skill that was going to finish about half way thru my work shift and started another that would cover the time til I got home from work. I came home a few minutes after the second skill had finished and when I restarted the first skill, it's timer had completely reset itself. Need less to say that set me back over a day!

Typically, here i am, reading this thread, thinking to myself "thank f*** i havent had this bug yet"... and guess what happens.
In comparison to some of you people losing a couple of days, i only lost 5 hours training time (High Speed Manouvering Level 2).
*Edit* Nevermind, sorted itself out now, changed skill a couple times, logged off then on again and it was fine...

Well had this myself and lost about 24 hours(got it "refunded" after I had petition it).
1. This is still a bug, a hotfix is ready for it but they haven't installed that one.(according to the path review forum a while ago)...
2. It's because of the cache files, serverside.
3. To stay away from this bug, 1) never train a skill to the next level right after you have completed the level before, relog(at station or 2 minutes if you're in space) before you try, if you dare that is. 2) Always relog before you train another skill to be on the safe side. |

I just had this problem too. My Astrogeology skill was training to level 4 (over 3 days training). I was waiting for it to finish so i could start another skill and log off for the night. It finished, but at level 3 again!!! and the evemail says level 3 completed. This is total bull.
CCP please sort this out as this is fundametal. |

I just read the post relating to this bug in the support section. CCP seem to think that this is a display bug. The thing is, my skill is displayed incorrectly on the skills list available through EVE Insider on this web site so is that a display bug too CCP?
Its been happening to a lot of people for a long time now so surely this should be a priority? I can't be the only person who thinks that this bug is worse than balancing problems and the like?

I just lost Acceleration Control 4. NOt a short skill at all and I had completed it (so lost a full 100K or so skills points roughly).
I left it for an hour after it was done, then relogged, by switched to a diff skill.
It still didn't show at 4. Then I tried training another level on it. MISTAKE.
I did finally clear it by totally deleting all cache folder contents with eve not running, then opening eve, setting a different skill to train, logging off in a station for 10 minutes and then logging back on.
I now have AC4.
I'm glad I did a backup of my cache folder though. Clearing the bug by moving cache is one thing, but I don't wanna get ALL my portraits and folders done over ;p

Had this happen a few times..... I either Log Out and back in...or restart the same skill for just a few seconds and then start another...
Clears it for me everytime....no retraining skills here....And if I had a level 4 or 5 Skill not reset I would Petition and Send the Email that said it was done to them along with it...(if ya can, have not had to petition yet)
