I am a nice guy... but role playing is a thing where you can throw off who you are for a while... I thought, listen to this.
I have played a 'carebear' character for a while so i decided to try a pirate. I was travelling around looking for someone to gank when a guy asked me to haul some kernite to a station from a roid field... I thought that perhaps i could haul all this and then keep it , so i began haukling, acting nice (normal for me) then when it was all finished I couldn't do it... I could not keep the ore... and that is not the worst bit... i didn't even want a cut . I was kicking myself to be bad but i couldn't do a simple thing like steal some guys ore .
The lesson i learnt is that no matter who we want to be, we cant be something we are not .
I hate being a carebear .

You dont have to be a pirate just to be non-carebear.Many people think that the only way to go for pvp is be a pirate.Join an alliance or something and fight a war that you may not even know why its going, but you get to fight someone.

Indeed, if i understand the term 'carebear' correctly, it means someone who doesnt like PvP, and doesnt like to be killed (will cry mostly). Being a pirate obviously you gotta PvP, but, theyre not the only ones doing it, you could be an anti-pirate, or an anti-ratbrat (ratbrats r those that hang around in .4 systems taking out defensless miners, for example).
What you couldnt be, was an ore thief, that aint being a pirate, its being something else, but i wont say what it is on these fourms (without stars) a c**t. _____________________________________________/ *Here comes the Thnikkaman!*

I made this alt and joined a small pirate corp, every time i made a kill i felt really guilty, so in the end i podded one of the pirate corp members and started a war against them, needless to say their more experienced players kicked my behind, but it was still pretty fun.

"Guilt" is one of the many pink, cuddly bears you have inside that heart of you that you must stomp on in order to become a successful pirate.

Best thing u will ever experience ingame PVP wise, is to kill the griefers....
The loud mouth, smack talking kids, the ones that say they are gonna kill u on the forums.... the ones that sit at gates, popping miners and enjoying it...
This is why i play the game, and nothing gives me more fun...
Killing the killers is the biggest challenge, ppl that are equiped for PVP, and have mainly PVP skills...
warping into a belt and warpscrambling a miner wouldnt give me very much to be honest... Its like 1 guy hunting a sheep with a shotgun, and another hunting a bear with a knife:)....

Although I don't condone ore "theft" (Unless it's from Cruiser and BS miners, of course. ), I can understand where you're coming from on this one!
I felt guilty when I first started podding people (Especially those flying around in rookie ships...meh), but after a while you get used to it and pretty much the only thing left is the adrenaline rush from doing something a wee bit naughty.
Although that too fades in time.

i second that ... the first times you kill someones ship you feel guilty but for every ship you pop you lose a little of that in the end you dont care anymore.... iam glad iam not at that point yet Who needs a shovel when you have a nice big cannon?

You need to burn your carebear feelings upon the altar of the darkside.
/me starts frothing at the mouth and goes into a killing frenzy and starts stabbing carebear corpses with a wicked looking knife.

There's pirating and there's pirating, stealing ore, camping a empire gate, suicide kestrels, jumping lone miners in 0.4 with 5 BSs is being a lazy scared bum that thinks that if he screams "I'm a ebil pirate" often enough people will start to believe it, IMHO those kind of people are more of a carebear then someone mining veldspar in 1.0 in a imperial apoc. Taking a interceptor and killing a industrial under the eyes of BS protection then looting it's expanders and making a clean get away, taking a lone BS and ransoming a mining op even if it has 5 mining BSs there, that's pirating and a lot of fun ( even for your victims ), and that's what a game should be about. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

ore stealing is no fun. if youwanna be a pirate try ganking noobs. theres no greater satisfaction than perfecting your gank and unleashing it on some unsuspecting ibis pilot or anyone for that matter. be a real pirate and kill people you might find yourself more capable of killing for your haul the just stealing it. ----------------------------------------------

Or why not gank Pirates. Be a hero save the Noobs, See how many Evol corpses you can gather.
Its a good alternative Carebear therapy

all i have to say is don't abuse the system. Even laxy pirates that attack noobs beucase its easy or people who specifically target noobs (like ore thiefs) are better than people who abuse the game system.
I'm talking using alts to snip cans of a corp that just kicked your ass and using NPC corps as shields. Being lame like that is te lowest low and even ore thiefs and griefers can laugh at the pathetic people who think pirateing is using Grid exploits and logging ships in at just the right time.
My favorite lame tactic to date has been pirates altering logs and posting them too noobs that say the noob made an agressive action and informing the noob that the GMs will blow his ship up since he has "proof" that they did an agreesive action in emprie space and didn't get blown up. That dirty becuase its abusing the out of charatcer game system. THe lame brain even went so far as to say he was in contact with a GM while he was making the threats and posted what the GM was saying...which of course was fake.
Those kind people don't belong in the game. there is a line that is crossed (or rather vomited over) and it shouldn't be tolerated...and it isn't.
So be a pirate, attack miners, be lame...just not Ultra Lame
*two cents*

I felt guilty when I finally went through the blockade to enter Solitude...
These pirates guys have done their job correctly podding me no less than 10 times but I started firing with my Velator on the scrambling frigate and he panicced then scrambled one of his mates, making them confused and letting me go through the gate.
Frankly, that was a good laugh for me. But these guys didn't even say "Hello, I am going to kill you". Just target you and kill you, and again and again... Why would you look like them?
Like if I had anything in the ship or implants or even a clone to pay for... After 10 times they could have figured out by themselves and let me go.

I havent PK'd yet but I will do, when I'm big enough. Killing PKers (specially those who have killed me) will be #1 on list, not a hint of remorse there.
But I suppose I may attack other "good" players... will see.
Just like in real life war, your first two kills are the hardest, after that it just becomes routine I suppose.

pirates and PvPers are different mostly. PvPers fight but aren't lame brain theifs. Remeebr that to you pirate wannabes. You ever wonder why pirates all huddle in the low sec surounding empire space. Because PvPer's are in the Allainces and kick thier ass all the live long day. Pirates RARELY get respect for PvP prowess. in fact they don't get respect ebcuase they don't do anything respectable.
If you can live with that, well kudos for you. Know CTEK wont pay you a dime and I'll kill you soon as look at you once I know your "scum." Go Iron-Core, go Celest, Go PA, so SA, heck even CA is better than pirates and thier Cartels
have fun

I am not a carebear, I joined a corp and alliance that sees a fair amount of action because, I want to pod carebears and crappy rats, I am not a pirate, I am a person who beats down those who try to be something they are not and whines about it when they suck, I didn't start to seriously pvp till almost 2 weeks after I joined and i have been around for 7 weeks,I learned PvP the hard way by going after significanly older players and losing ships, why you ask because it shows you many things tactically and toughens you up, because when you PvP you WILL lose ships so you learn to deal with it. Black Nova Corp fights with Geeklab and CA and good deal but aren't pirates or carebears, though they have a few, as far as killing your corp mates goes don't do it unless they are whiners. They whine about being f*cktards then it shows you the true quality of the player.

Please don't lump ore-thieves in with pirates. It just is not the same thing. There is a distinction between the two, a big one.
I am a pirate, and I have never had more fun since starting eve a long time ago....but I have yet to steal a single piece of ore. That is just rotton I think. I'm not sure why but it rubs me so very wrong, sorta like corp theft.
And Darth, I have to agree with you. It's very easy to kill unarmed miners and whatnot, and it is much more gratifying to kill someone equipped for PvP...and very very hard to do in your case since pirates (should) know how to not get killed. I have to take my hat off to your crew. Hunting pirates is a thankless, and moneyless job, on top of being the hardest PvP in the game. To be honest, I even considered coming to your side for a while..but I find more PvP as a pirate (after all, everyone is a target) and more money too (well enough to keep fighting anyway). ------------------------------------------------
