nerfing things is never a solution just a quick fix that wrecks game mechanics.
So you put a frig with "only" one MWD in the slow category ? If you think it's not fast enough, why don't you put an afterburner? Come on, if the game mechanics were supposed to allow insane speeds like 25+ km/s, the locking times and targetting ranges would be adapted for it.
IMO the frigs just shouldn't be able to run their MWD endlessly. No cruiser or battleship that I know of can do it (not without becoming totally useless in battle), so why should they?
As for the cruise missiles, let them for the upcoming bomber class, but a ship costing almost nothing simply shouldn't have access to a weapon with more range and brut damage than most BS weapons.
Even without cruises, a frig squadron will still be able to take out a BS. There will ust be more risks involved (as it should be) and a tactical adaptation needed.
Currently, and in a big part because of cruises, all the canon-based frigs are more or less useless, and after that you scream that removing cruises from frigates is a "nerf"? Sound more like a fix to me.[/qu
frigs should be able to outrun cruise missles if that means they have to mount 2 mwd then so be it. ab dont produce the speed required for frigates to be effective. also a long frigate cannot take out a bs but 3 or 4 can. i dont think that there is anything wrong with that. 3 or 4 small fast ships should be able to take out a bs. ----------------------------------------------

okay. i don't like the idea of "frigates" not using cruise missles. i think that if a frigate can fit a heavy launcher, it should be able to fire a cruise missle. standard launchers should not be able to fire cruise/torps.
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

100% agree with Shadowhawk. I was shocked when I pulling out my long-unused light and heavy missiles and realized that not only were they no better at hitting a frigate with MWD, they are actually much worse....
Missile balance would be a good thing. Doing something (I honestly don't care what) with torps would also be kinda cool, since at the point only total morons (or I suppose the terminally warp scrambled/webbed or perhaps those who are AFK) get killed with these slow moving beasties.

Edited by: The End on 04/05/2004 16:49:58 Imo Frigs should not use cruise missles....
It is way too much firepower for a small ship to have.
it sucks as you cant have a decent frigate fight. 3 cruise misssles will take just about any frig down. and that can be shot in one volley from another frig....
i use frigs personally and think they are way too much overpowered..
hard to lock, hard to hit, and now they want to nerf the drones..
CCP is giving way too much love to frigs.
I do like the 1 mwd per ship idea. also i would like frigs to be limited to heavy missles. light missles even. it will allow for more dog fights and will allow the use of small turrets! instead of just using cruise missles now and just seeing who ever missles hits first and that person will win in a frig fight.

Honestly a kestrel is the worst frig to be in in frig combat. I fly my rifter and have never lost to a kestrel. Kestrel is way to slow. Only thing its god for is support in attacking a BS(one volley then run). Oh and ganking indies. Or you can sometimes catch a cruiser pilot off guard.
nerf multiple mwd: yes nerf cruise for frigs: no increase light missle speed for killing other frigs: yes For tghose who wanty to kill frigs, use light drones and energy drains...they`re brutal... ive experienced it. =This podding has been brought to you by Odet, the only way to fry.= |

Shh Odet. These peoples wouldnt want to have to equip a nos! They would rather just scream nerf.
There are plenty of ways to stop a mwd using frigate. You just actually have to plan for it.

Edited by: Pitt on 04/05/2004 20:26:05 Edited by: Pitt on 04/05/2004 20:24:55 First of all i do fly frigs and have advocated to giving them boosts in the past. However, once again ccp overcompensates. Frigs should not be able to use cruise missiles, and I really like the 1 mwd suggestion.
As for the drone problem and the upcoming changes I agree with them for the most part. No, heavies should not be able to hit frigs, for that fact neither should large turrets. But, with the new changes frigs are going to be way too effective against bs's (cruisers also, but that's another topic).
Scout drones and med drones are far to weak in their damage output and can't even hit a frig as it is anyway. Small and med turrets can't either. I want to empasise bs's can't or very rarely can hit a frig using the weapons designed for frig defense. Some if not most of the time, frigs can't even hit frigs .
I do like the way that ccp is begining to balance out all ship classes and hope they get it right. But making frigs too powerful is only going to mean a nerf for them in the future.
Lack of preparation on your part does not constitute greifing on mine |

LOL.
Lots of whining going on here.
From carebear battleship pilots I guess.
Frigates are balanced in comparison to cruisers and battleships, the only thing which isn't balanced is frigate vs. frigate combat, because at MWD speed your turrets do not hit at all (at least not while orbiting) and it is all about cruise missile doodging which hoplefully will be fixed soon by allowing frigs to outmaneuvre the missiles. -- Stories: #1 --
