Hey One point from me so far: I am now in hostile space with no Amarr stations around me and really cannot figure how to check how my militia is doing in the war. Couldn't you make the militia screen available remotely? It would make sense to contact my command from the enemy territory.
Oh yeah, also the point about capital camping the control points...

That is true. At the moment the whole thing resembles an erratic bunch of guerilla squads. There is no way to organise it apart from the chat as EVE Voice needs a lot more work. Also in PvP corps you can organize campaigns and raids using eve-mail system, not to mention out of game resources. In militia there is no such possibility - peopole logging into the game have no means of checking where the action is at the moment as they cannot remotely access their militia screen (which is very behind what is going on - thus useless) and the militia chat is also no goos as most people in the fray of fight need to pay attention to their sleet channel.
Ideas: - extensive and well organized in-game tool where fleet commanders can post tactical reports about battles in progress; - introducing chain of command, maybe based on the ranks; - improving EVE Voice (a lot, allowing the player to really customize the key they want to use to talk); - setting up sections of the Eve Forums for the militia only, where players can engage in internal role-play and planning.

Originally by: Vanden Designating one player to lead the militia is madness, and if it's based on ranks it'll be whoever can grind standings the fastest. Organisation should be left entirely to the players.
True. How about the FC autamatically becoming the one who reports to the militia screen where the fleet is heading, where the fight is, what they need etc. With regard to the player created chats and mailing lists - the FW was supposed to be a system ready for use and effective at it, not requiring players to figure out how to make it work. I think that one of the weakest point s is general logistics of planning an operation. Players are forced to get together either when they log in with whoever is online, or use some totally out of game system to prepare a raid, a fleet etc. they want. Another issue are problems with EVE Voice, which limit the tactical options and flexibility of the battle group. Until there is an effective and fast voice comm for militias, they will be chaotic squads ripping each other apart like some angry mod. Not to mention that pirates will have the time of their lives killing those brave defenders of the empire ;)

Following this line of thought we should have organized four corps grouped into two alliances and start the war. Cause that is basically all we are getting (plus the ranks and control points). What is the need for FW then at all? It was meant to be fun as is the aim of a game - wasting tiem trying to sort out which chat to use, where to go, in what kind of ship is not fun. I do not want CCP to do everything for me, just make it accesible and enjoyable.
