Originally by: "EVE Insider" Emphasizing his belief that no excuse can relieve the Gallente Federation of direct responsibility in the catastrophe, Heth declared that all Gallentean expatriates are to be "quarantined and held for questioning until their innocence is proven". While not mentioning Admiral Noir by name, Heth hinted that if Noir was the most trustworthy man between both nations prior to Malkalen, then his "deceit" warrants such drastic matters as a pure "security precaution".
This is a step too far. I already had my concerns about Tibus Heth's integrity, but now that he has not only gained control of the Kaalakiota Corporation, but immediately abused that power.
Even if one or two of the Gallente expatriates within the State did have a hand in Malkalen, locking every last man jack of them up is beyond all reasonable response. It smacks of the same persecution and restriction that our own people were subjected to prior to the outbreak of the War.
I am now firmly of the opinion that Tibus Heth is a power-hungry, immoral monster who is ruthlessly exploiting the current national spirit to forward his own destructive agenda. The success of his bid for power, coupled with his extremist opinions and his prejudice against the Gallente people places him in a position where he could do a lot of harm to us.
It is my opinion that Tibus Heth is a danger to the principles and ideals of the Caldari State. His actions endanger our integrity, our way of life, and the already fragile peace. He insults the memory of Otro Gariushi every time he speaks that great man's name. He is to be roundly condemned.
I invite all Capsuleers who agree with me to join me in protest outside the Kaalakiota headquarters at Nonni III, Moon 1, beginning at 1700 hours EST on the 22nd of this Month.
We will not tolerate having a man in charge who would arrest thousands of people without due cause. We will not tolerate a policy of "guilty until proven innocent". We will not tolerate the infiltration of a power-grabbing, ruthless, manipulative bigot into the top level of our government.
We will NOT tolerate Tibus Heth.
Unfortunately, due to the current political tensions within the State, I must request that no pilots of Federation nationality join us, and would encourage Minmatar and Amarrian pilots to stay away as well. This is the State's internal business, and in these xenophobic times, it is up to the Caldari to resolve our own problems.
EDIT: on second thoughts, I believe the protests should begin as son as is reasonable, and have rescheduled them to the new date listed above. Transgressions of this magnitude demand an appropriately swift response. -

What is your motivation in your request of non-Caldari pilots to stay out? Fear for their safety in your lopsided territory? Desire to prove a point about your citizens? If it's the former, rest assured that plenty of people are more than willing to take the risk. Either way I salute your intentions and wish you well.

The state at the moment is in quite a xenophobic state of mind. External influences have been blamed - by Tibus Heth himself - for many (if not all) of our internal problems.
The presence of no-Caldari protestors could be spun by Heth into "evidence". I fear that any well-meaning foreign pilots, especially those of Gallente origin, who showed up would just serve to undermine the protest. -

Forgive me if I do not attend, Mr. Tarn-Hakatain. It's not that I don't vehemently agree with you, it's that CONCORD believes I'm more of a threat to the State than Heth.
And I question the effectiveness of such a protest at this point, anyway.

Your apology is more than enough, Sakoda-haani. As for the efficiency of the protest...
I do not care if it works or not. At least I will have made the effort. If we even convince one person that Heth is not to be trusted, then we will have done our duty. -

I don't think such an attitude right now will help much Ixiris, but I do see your reasoning for it. Heth really has gone out of control by now.
As for you, Stitcher, I'd love to go and attend your protest as I feel it's fully in it's place. However you have made decent arguments against my joining, so I'll pass for now, though I'd attend if able.

Edited by: Stitcher on 22/05/2008 22:08:54 Well, the first protest is over, having lasted three hours. It's difficult to say how effective it was, but we at least engaged a few of the Nonni locals in conversation. I'm pretty certain we came across as being more rational than the various skeptics who challenged us were.
The next protest will be same time, same place, tomorrow. -

I support your ideals, pilot.
You are not entirely correct that this is purely an internal matter to the Caldari State. The Federation citizens now being arrested for their nationality would likely disagree with you.
However, we each must focus on the shortcomings of our own nations and work to defend and uphold the basic rights of our fellow citizens. In that, we are in full accord, and I hope that your efforts can avert further needless loss of life. --

Your opinion doesn't matter. You are one speck of human flesh in a sea that will sway to the rhythm of its master if it is to survive and retain its core values.
Besides, suppression of Gallente meddlers should be the legitimate norm.

As a Gallente expatriate living and working within the State, I watched this latest statement by Tibus Heth with concern and interest. In the time since his call for quarantine, however, I have not had any problems going about my usual business. I have flown warships (Gallente warships, even) through Caldari space, docked in Lai Dai Protection Service stations, and done business with Lai Dai Protection Service agents.
Heth appears to have much in common with my slaver hound, "Arf". Her bark is fiercer than her bit, too.

Mademoiselle Akahoshi, Mr. Heth's proclamation is not aimed at pod pilots. Imagine if it were... Provists moving to capture a Director or representative of one of the great superpowers in the outer realms of the Cluster, arousing their ire against him in the war he's about to unleash.
How much wiser it is to allow the podders to run about their business in Jita and the other market hubs, and to continue their contract work... if only to allow them to grow dependent and side with him when the lines are drawn? --- This post is not the official statement of my alliance or corporation.

By all the Winds...
I was willing to hear Tibus Heth out, as his words about the failures of the State rang true to my ears, but nothing about his meteoric rise to power, nor the way that he has wasted little time in exercising it give me comfort. What the State needs is a leader, not a tyrant.

Granted. Just the same, he never said "all Gallente except capsuleers". It seems funny that the man wants to quarantine Gallente expatriates in the State to avoid "starship terrorism", yet he only wants to quarantine those who couldn't engage in it.
Ultimately, though, I'm mostly just amused by the guy.

I own a small corporation in the Caldari state. I have been away on business in Minmatar territory since just before the attack. I understand that my office in Ahynada has been vandalized and that death threats have been received. Now this.
I have decided that I will not return. I will step down as CEO and oversee a field office in Sinq Laison.
To my many Caldari friends, I hope I see you all again and, when I do, I hope it is not as enemies in war. |

I must condemn this behavior, for better or for worse, we have been sent down a path we cannot come back up. War is coming, and the last thing we need are our own people protesting our government.
You cannot change what is to come, stop fighting it, internal conflict the last thing we need now.

Distinctiveness breeds inventiveness, and inventiveness begets advancement - something the Gallente have long since recognized and benefitted from, something the Amarr Empire once accepted but has come to ignore, choosing to enslave those it can and simply ignore those cultures it cannot - and look where it has gotten us - much of our territory lost, our former power diminished. I hope Heth sees his foolishness, what it is doing to the State and to New Eden, and, if not, I support you noble cause, Mr. Stitcher.
As a side note, I believe it is only a matter of time before Mr. Heth's militia and 'nationalist' capsuleer organizations begin to target those who have made any statements that could be even vaguely enterpreted as anti-Heth or pro-Gallente. If I am ever targeted, I will be sad that it has come to that, but be proud for opposing such tyranny. Say "Amarr ships suk, lol." I dare you.

How sad it is to see potential supporters of this worthwhile cause, pushed away over xenophobia and distrust. How can one oppose the quarantine of expatriots on one hand, yet deny outsiders the chance to support this humanitarian cause? It simply feeds the attitude that began this witchhunt to begin with, and catering to that mindset simply reinforces their behavior.
If you're ever going to free yourself of these racist memes, an understanding of tolerance must be achieved.

Stitcher, I wish you well in this. You are fighting against great symbolism in an act of terrorism by an advocate for peace. There are mists clouding the movements of Heth and the racial tensions. Two Boards of Directors have turned over control of megacorporations to an unknown laborer. This is not something that is spontaneous, it has been planned for years. Nothing less could have had this outcome in this way.
Nonetheless, regardless of what is arrayed against you, these words must be said, must be heard. There are righteous wars, and then there are wars of stupidity.
No warrior allows his society to surrender to an enemy, internal or external. And that is exactly what sits behind the mists. These actions are not the actions of leaders of society or of companies. They are the actions of cowardly pawns who have sold themselves and their people. I include the action of the Admiral in this, or whomever was in control of the Nyx.

Believe me, I am not requesting that non-Caldari pilots stay away because of my own prejudice. I am doing it because Tibus Heth has publicly accused the Gallente of interference within our nation.
I'd accept the offered aid in a second were it not for the fact that I'd not put it past Heth to try and spin it to his advantage. All he needs to do is twist us into "pro-Gallente dissenters" and "foreign apologists" and our credibility among the Caldari people will immediately be undermined.
The people attending these protests are true patriots, Captain. We need to present ourselves as such to the State as a whole. Unfortunately, the State as a whole is in a xenophobic frame of mind at the moment, and any hint of foreign influence is automatically distrusted.
I must therefore ask that non-Caldari do not attempt to join the protest. Not because I don't want you there - but because the message will suffer if you do. Please, understand.
To everyone who is supporting me in this - thank you. It's good to know that there are plenty of capsuleers out there who are still keeping a level head. To those who disagree with me...
The state does not need a leader. It already has many. -

CEO Heth is walking a dangerous path. One I do not agree with. He shows the disruptions caused by one who improperly moves beyond his station. He is a factory worker who incites the masses needlessly; he is a factory worker who forgets the faces of the ancestors he claims to champion; he is a factory worker who now sits on the CEP with no true knowledge of what he is doing. I can only hope the eight other CEOs will break him if they cannot temper him.

The House Takegawa founded the Causality Corporation in the State, and has dedicated close to half it's resources to the support of The State's interests for some generations. For the State to be turned against them now would be a betrayal too far.
