I have been thinking of getting a PDA and I did some research and apparently CCP announced "EVE Lite" (or "EVE Mobile") about 2 years ago? Has anything else ever been heard about it?
Failing that, is there any possible way to load EVE onto a PDA and say change skills using it? I know there's programs like RMD+ that lets the iPhone access a PC, but is there a standalone that could run EVE anywhere/everywhere? (Preferably for Windows Mobile, I only used the iPhone as an example).

I've certainly not seen anything of EVE-Lite for a while so I think it's safe to say it never got off the drawing board.
As for running EVE on a PC and accessing it remotely, it's certainly possible. The big question is does it have a mobile client. I know that you can use RDP from windows mobile to an XP machine, but I've heard that EVE won't run under RDP any more (not tried it personally). Personally I always used VNC. There are multiple flavors of VNC (RealVNC, TightVNC, UltraVNC) and there's a standalone .NET VNC viewer available, so give it a go.
Of course I reserve the obvious caveats of opening ports on your PC to the outside world and all risks involved in that.

I just want to add, that whilst I've used VNC successfully in the past I don't currently use it. I'm one of those lucky enough to be able to run EVE client from work.

I've successfully viewed an EVE client running on my XP desktop using VNC on my Axim (this was several months ago before Premium graphics existed). I couldn't do anything with it other than view a tiny portion of the screen, due to the mass of video data. Handhelds just aren't designed to process (even with panning) the high resolution and bit-depth of EVE graphics (not to mention the network and disk/memory I/O resources needed for the image data). You need a rather excessively powerful device to make it work. Compressing the connection really doesn't help, as then your handheld just has to use that much more CPU time decompressing the images when received. You can try, and you might actually see the game on the Palm/Windows Mobile/iPhone device, but you'll likely not be able to actually change a skill or anything :)

Darn, that's not good. I would hate to go and spend a few hundred on a Palm/PDA and then find that it doesn't work ... Thanks anyway, if only CCP would continue with their mobile client idea.

Or they could make a skill queue or let us change skills from the web interface.

skill queue is a good idea, but CCP will lose money as players train two rank8 level 5 skills back to back and skip playing for 3 months
skill change from API is paramount to macroing, so never going to happen, IMHO.
