So I decided to make another one of these EVE mosaic pictures based upon the avatars of pilots. The mosaic software took about 300 hours to do the rendering and it turned out OK this time. Some flaws I rather would have seen not there but spending another 12 days to fix it isn't an option right now
You might want to use right-click save as for the larger one seeing as it's about 45MiB.
Downloads: Information - find out if you are in the picture, cordinates etc (1431KiB) The original image (714KiB, 1920x1200 pixels) Small version (309KiB, 1000x600 pixels) Medium version (4493KiB, 4000x2500 pixels) Large version (45840KiB, 16000x10000 pixels)

Originally by: Chen Hao So you use software to generate these instead of doing it manually? Surely anyone can use software to do it, so how is it impressive?
Yes I use a software, personally I wouldn't have the patience to tile up some 50,000+ images trying to get them all together, doubt you would either. And I don't recall anywhere in my post stating it is impressive, imo it's pretty unusual and yeah anyone can do it but that doesn't make images like this less cool imo.
You jealous you didn't think of it first?

Originally by: Cutter Isaacson Hey Chribba, any chance of that list in alphabetical order? I wanna find my pic if its on there, but searching over 50,000 names will drive me insane
Ctrl+F?
I might be able to do such a list later on tho.

I've been using the software AndreaMosaic on a dual P4 Xeon server.
The avatar database consits of around 300,000 pilot avatars (indeed extracted from the EVE-Search cache).
So the reason some are in and some are not is due to the software trying to match the best avatar for said pixels. So generating a dark image most likely will not include avatars that are very bright etc.
One should note that the reason it took 300 hours to render is because I used the settings to never use duplicate avatars. Using duplicates will render much faster but what's the fun in that if every 50 pilot is the same?
So this is 52,000 different pilots.

Who is the baby picture? thats sure not from eve... lol
it is one of the devs...
^^ this. One of the devs replaced his avatar with the baby, funny, but they didn't want to change mine into a Veldspar icon

only his portrait is.... BACKWARDS?!??!?!?!?! or do i have an identical clone who is backwards
being close to the edge, and near the middle is ftw!
Nope it's you, I allowed the software to flip the avatar horizontally to better match the full image. So yes some avatars can be flipped.

Originally by: Artassaut And now I ended up in another one. How do you get the images anyway?
They are from the Trinity and Empyeran Age screen-kits.
