No no, they cause enough damage and despite the fact they can somehow get a torpedo to travel 100km, thats not the point.
I've never seen a mission rat fly a Drake or Rokh, whats up with that.. I wouldn't mind taking on a Rokh with its epic range ability.. especially since rats seem to have Level 5 skills on everything except when it comes to self preservation.

1 rat BS does about the same damage as one t1 cruiser at best :P
so hardly all lvl 5 on all skills :P
if u had all rat bs to read dps of that BS... you would need around 10k+ tank to tank most missions whit alot of bs ---------------------------------- Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

Alright alright, jeez. This is about the ships, not the skills. And i only say level 5 on everything due to their obscene range abilities sometimes.

It is pretty weird i think that while the rest of us had torps nerf'd. The rats can still fire them from obscene ranges. Guristas have dev h4x i guess.

They can also jam motherships. NPCs cheat, simple as.

Why do rats need to cheat? Surely it wouldn't be that hard to make them a bit more player like and reduce their numbers? might even help with lag...

When CCP announced their need for speed initiative they where gonna make rats stronger and reduce their numbers in missions but apparently this idea has been dropped.

pirates need the new ship hulls, they need more tech 2 roled ships, they need to behave more like players, like logistics ships repairing your primary target, larger ships perfoming more various ewars and some more self conservation, like a close range battleship performing hit an runs.

I wouldn't mind a huge buff to rats, especially to their behavious against multiple enemies. They tend to never switch targets or damage types, I think both would be great additions and would make missions certainly more interesting.
Which brings me to the next issue, why is a veteran player getting the same missions as a young player, when running for the same agent. The agents should check some key skills for tanking and dealing damage as well as ship equipment when entering the mission. (To avoid someone accepting all mission in a frig and then run them in a pimped cnr.)
There are a lot of aspects that the pve area of eve is lacking and most of them have to do with the npcs you are facing.

I would really just prefer fewer rats doing more damage. For lvl4 missions you can destroy over ten battleships plus a ton of cruisers and frigates in your piddly one ship. It just seems so crappy. ________________________________________ <("<) <('')> (>")>

$$$$ is the main reason they need to be soloable in most cases so CCP makes em weak well soloable to keep the wow players that reach level 60 and enver leave high sec

Your character is an immortal demigod. I think that's a suitable display of godlike power

I would personally enjoy seeing more rats with 'normalized' resistances. Mordus have them, and mercs too I believe. Not sure about EoM.
COSMOS rats also seem to have pretty standard resistances, but belt/mission rats have strange, strange tendencies. Like Blood Raiders with absolutely no EM resistance, or Gallente that have insane explosive resists on their armor.
Give them base resistances, then have them tank their racial enemy's resistances as a bonus on top of that, and not a massive base resist?
Also, /signed on the numbers/power, and smarter rats. And logistic rats. That would be really neat.
Do the right thing. Don't leave shuttles in space. |

^This. 1v4 at the very most, much more difficult npc's - then add the necessity to web/scramble the primary, neut/ECM secondary targets and bingo! thousands of carebears running around, frothing at the mouth with PvP fitted ships - I guess pirates/canflippers won't like that a lot

Fix their aggro its simply boring how stupid they are now, aggro system needs rehaul and generally make NPC rats fight alot smarter using the modules you see them drop, generally the direction i want to see in missions are less rats but harder rats w/ better loot. So said isk income will be roughly the same but a bit harder to mindlessly grind.(i.e. you must think and use tactics) ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I like it. It might even give some credibility to the "omgz, mission running is soooo risky and dangerous" nonsense that sometimes pop up…

In PvP , most players have a scram fitted. Give 3/4 of the mission rats a scram , that's a first step towards realism

An improved AI wouldn't be wrong, either. Right now when you read a NPC rats name you'll know that he will orbit you at 36250 meters, fire artillery with a 5 second ROF and fires a cruise missile every 9 seconds. Every rat with the same name behaves _exactly_ the same way. How boring is that? How about some of these rats having a web or two webs fitted, trying and getting close to hit you with artillery? Rats switching aggro proactively? Rats adapting to your weapon systems (long range/short range)?

With the advent of Faction Warfare, all NPC rats should be removed from the game, replaced with players from the opposite faction.
Now that would be a challenge.

Edited by: Omarvelous on 23/05/2008 14:35:08 Macro-isk farmer accounts should be converted into NPCs.
Ratting cloaking Raven -> Pithi Dismantler (when you get killed your insta podded).
Macro Hulk -> Damsel in Distress (you log in and you're stuck in a can waiting for someone to rescue you).

be careful what you wish for, because you might get it....
starting with the 50% hp boost for t1 hulls, that players got some time ago.
