Edited by: Grey Shadow on 23/05/2008 13:01:19 Edited by: Grey Shadow on 23/05/2008 13:01:06 With all due respect to the GM's, I think we need a quicker method of reporting ISK spammers.
The current route of filing a petition takes a few minutes, especially as I havn't found a good way of copy/paste a character name into the 'select character' section of the petition.
If CCP really want our help in reporting isk sellers, can't we get a right click menu option to report them?
Would be a helluva lot quicker.

Definitely agree. There have been a few times I was going to report a RMT spammer, but didn't because it took too long to fill out the form, and I just didn't care that much. Easier reporting means faster deletion, means less spam for everybody. ------------------ Fix the forums! |

While i don't agree with all their features, one thing that POTBS has over EVE is that it allows one to report spammers with a right click option. This files a spammer report petition AND puts the spammer on ignore. Having a "Report as spammer" option right below "Block player" in the right click menu would do wonders.
Oh! And a yes no dialog following it warning of the heavy performance dip that occurs by a spam report due to the log dump to CCP would also be nice. Lets you get out of dodge first . |

Pirates of the Burning Sea allows you to right click the text of anyone you see chatting, and select 'Report'.
Voila, the text and person who sent it is reported in a queue, and a GM can look at exactly what they said [To make sure they did indeed break the rules] and pass final judgement.
Thumbsup.

This is exactly what I look for every time I see a spammer.
Since there's no fast way of doing it, I find it more expediant to simply ignore them, especially if I'm just passing through.
If it were more streamlined, I would help report spammers more often and this would be good for everyone.
Just make sure there's a confirmation screen of some kind with plenty of warning about what you're doing so it's not done by accident. Perhaps it would help if the "report as spammer" was a menu itself in the right click menu, with a single option "Confirm". Just like when you quit CEO and such.

One thing I wish they'd get rid of is the $ exploit. As far as I can tell, this symbol allows them to spam their message more than once per 2 minutes, and can be found in most messages.

while I think a right click with confirm would be good, I dont think its all that much of an improvement.
I right click "copy all" from the general system box and paste it into the report, the only item to really think on is the spammers name.

Blizzard implemented this in Warcraft, but I'd be interested to know if it did any little bit of good. Once you hit "Report Spam", you don't really know what happens behind the curtain. I've heard that it files a priority ticket to a GM, but I can't validate that. Either way, the spam in that game is still absolutely terrible, with or without the report feature. And even if a GM does get ticketed, who gives a crap? They unplug one more trial account, and in ninety seconds, a new one is up and running. One more reason to give us a customizable, scriptable user interface. In WoW, I was able to write a very simple spam guard environment that filtered out 100% of solicited spam in chat and required zero manual interaction once it was up and running.

General support; it should be even easier.
Shouldn't take a few minutes, though. Maybe what I do will save you a minute or two:
- Right-click > Copy the message from the chat window;
- Start a new petition;
- Paste the message into the body of the petition;
- Double-click (or otherwise select) the character name in that text;
- Ctrl+C to copy the name, paste it into the Character field;
- Click "Search"; sadly it doesn't seem like the dialog box is smart enough to do this automatically (hopefully this flaw at the very least, can be fixed soon)
- Start to type in your description and choose one of the auto-complete options (Make your first one general, like "ISK spam in chat")
- Submit!

Edited by: Havohej on 01/06/2008 18:02:05 This is the only feature I miss from WoW. There, reporting for spam* was an option right under "Block" in the r-click menu from a person's name on the chat window. In EVE, I'm usually busy and can't be bothered to stop every 10 minutes to report the new spammer who's showed up on local and write out a petition. I did it the first few times, but haven't for a while. I just block, now.
*Note that the "Report Spam" option also automatically blocked the person being reported.

I approve this. I've played WoW for quite some time. And what they did was that everytime there were an inappropriate message in the chatbox, players could simply just rightclick the senders name, then choose an option "Report Spam".
As far I understood it, if a message received enough spam reports from the community, the player would be checked by the GMs, investigated and ultimatly bann the account itself.
Now I don't suggest CCP to copy this method if it's not wanted. But that's one way how someone did something about it. Close to 9000 accounts were banned each month because of this system I believe.

I support, perhaps inconjunction with this CCP could put a filter on chat that would automatically block and send automatic notification to GM's of communication from any player referencing known ISK selling sights.

It takes me about 45 seconds to do all this, and 3 minutes for the laggy petition que to get it put thru. In a fight, you can betcha I'm not going to petition some guy that's filled local 10 times over with their spam. I just click/block.
UNFORTUNATELY this puts a crapload of people who no longer exist on my block list, which I hate having to filter every month.
I wonder just exactly how many petitions the GM's get every time 1 spammer hits someplace like Jita/Amarr/Rens.
