I would guess that they count up from 0: 0.0-1.0 for the first, 1.0-2.0 for the second, through to 9.0-10.0 for the highest. However, I don't want to assume that it is that simple.

However, I don't want to assume that it is that simple. when you enlist at 24th crusade (amarr militia) you start at amarr crusader. so first rank is at 0.0. The ranking system is horribly bugged right now..so i can't tell you when you advance in rank. sometimes you get demoted for capturing a hostile facility but standing doesnt change. I should be Marshal Commander right now...but am arch lieutenant. P.S.: i really like the ranks CCP made. looks good ;)

I just found out something: the ranks have 3 "tiers": 0-3 4-6 7-9 (just check the images, and names there) so if you have a tier1 rank you got a promotion while doing minor complexes, if you have a tier2 rank you get promoted doing medium plexes, BUT demoted to the highest tier1 rank if you do a minor plex... so, basically: rank plex to advance 0-3 minor 4-6 (medium) 7-9 major I don't know that this is intentional or really a bug, but somehow it makes sense that if you are a higher rank and do a smaller plex (which is there for the lower ranks) you got demoted. ps: I base this on lots of ppl said that they promoted while doing minor plexes, but when they got rank 4 with a major plex done they demoted after the next completed minor plex. ps2: so take this as a brainstorm, or such also hi Slade o/ And at last but not least: AMARR VICTOR! Also that all of these ranks are officer ranks no enlisted ranks which si somewhat more expected of milita people. maybe non milita peopple can get ranks to but it be enlisted only. You can join an another militia after waiting out the 24hr period between the two militias. However to rejoin a militia, the +0.5 unmodified faction standing is still required. So swapping is possible, but if you plan to do the two opposin militias such as amarr+minmatar or gallente+caldari it will be great pain.

This repeats for every positive integer up to 9.0 which is the highest attainable rank. The first time you are promoted to a given rank you get a faction standing boost. If you drop below the standing requirement for your current rank you get demoted. Under no other circumstances should you get demoted. We are aware of issues with this at the moment and are actively hunting for more info, if you run into cases where you get demoted even if you have not dropped in standings please bug report as per the instructions in this thread. You should give some "Grand Protector of the State" or some other really important Knighthood like award/medal to all those players who have 9.90 faction standings and above... I mean, a Faction BS BPC is cool and all.. but...

Yes, noticed that too, and i think it's good since otherwise ranking goes to fast. Getting Lt. Col. after capturing some bunkers (which can be done in very short time if you operate in a gang that gets all the beacons in a system, everyone sits at one and then the whole group warps to them one by one when's only few minutes left to countdown) was simply too fast. We don't want too see too many generals after the first few days, no ?
