Hi
Benvie's original thread on this bond here http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=682513
I took 2b of the 10b bond, but I don't seem to have had a dividend payment for May - my last payment that I can see was on 15th April. Has anyone else in this bond received payment, if so when and how was it made? If not, has anyone seen Benvie lately?
I should note I have not mailed Benvie directly on this as I have very limited game time right now, and it may wel just be a case of administrative error on mine or his part. But I have looked through my wallet and can't see the 160m divvie I should have received...
Cheers Leo

Hmmm no response? That's weird.
Ricdic, Amarr Citizen, Shadarle, all others that took a chunk of this bond... Did you get a May dividend or have you been bought out? Am I just not seeing a journal entry?

Edited by: Relyen on 24/05/2008 18:43:25 I have not received a dividend nor have I been bought out either. Was getting ready to post a thread about it soon, but figured I'd wait :P
Edit: I did mail benvie direclty a couple of days ago and didn't get a response. Haven't been on today to check though.

You should try adding him to the address book, at least you'll know if he still plays the game or not.

My understanding, from other threads in this forum, is that Benvie is Mia.
Since I've just started investing in bonds/ipos myself I do hope he turns up

That surprises me as Benvie seemed a good guy. What surprises me more is that some other vocal members of this forum (Shadarle, EBANK Ricdic) who are [as heavily invested as/more heavily invested than] me are silent on this. My excuse is that I've been offline since 15th May; why has no-one else noticed that this bond dividend date has passed unpaid for over a week?

My EVE time has been greatly limited lately... barely had time to keep up with my normal activities... no less look into this kind of thing.
I had the impression benvie has been MIA for a while tho... thus the major hit with RDIR.

I wrote Benvie corp off over a month ago when RDIR got screwed over and Benvie couldn't make an appearance there.

You two... RDIR was not Benvie's fault. It was mine. Whatever is the case with this bond, I have no idea, but if you keep blaming Benvie for any part of the RDIR shortcoming... I may become wroth with you.

Sorry for the slow response, busy with the holiday here in the US. To answer your question, I did sell my shares to another individual for the purchase price before the April dividend.

RDIR was supposed to be Benvie's operation. Your only position inside RDIR was supposed to be as someone securing the funds and acting on Benvie's calls. I don't understand why you keep defending him. He should have been the one to come forward and suggest alternate methods of resolution, he should have been the one to defend HIS operation when it came under attack.
Instead he was either off doing his own thing or figured you could deal with it yourself. I don't really see this as being your fault Shar. I see it as Benvie starting a project and washing his hands with it a few months later. Interestingly enough, Benvies corp had the EXACT same result.
I doubt it was a scam, he probably got reeled in by some other MMORG. Obviously in these two cases there is a fine line.

Not really. What else can you say to someone who ain't got the balls to post flame with his main? Of course, in truth, the guy is just being complimentary to me in the only fashion his sad decrepit life understands. I'm just saying "thank you" back to him in a way that he understands.

Thanks for the responses - guess I may need to write off that 2b. Putting the final touch to my conviction that supporting others financially is actually a completely unworthy return on investment when you consider the risk of loss and more importantly time spent tracking payments. I can't be bothered any more.
Another commercial aspect of EVE that I'm walking away from, I REALLY hope Empyr Age has some new things for me to do otherwise...

Sounds like you need to take a break. Your stuff is fine where it is now. This game will undergo changes in the future and you never know when you'll feel like playing again. Now quite whining, I've made typing mistkes, I've been ganked while hauling, etc and lost more than you did.

Might be a good idea to go back to the offer document and see if any lessons can be learnt
Were enough basic checks made before 10b was thrown at it?
I dunno the answer........I'm just asking the question

Since you can't seem to be corrected in private regretfully I'm forced to correct you in public. Your opinion on RDIR doesn't matter. You are no one in that matter so I for one would like it if you stop believing your own hype. In essence, stick to your own affairs where you might know what you are talking about.

One thing is clear though, we need to agree upon some method to recover investments so such things never happen again.
Oh and we really should consider laying the foundations for a mega corporation / alliance ourselves (the MD clique) following the basics of participatory organization. How does this sound to everyone?
Whining? Well kinda, but not about the 2b I couldn't give a t0ss about that. What I'm grumbling about is the realisation that supporting others is a fruitless exercise, which represents yet another box ticked and then scrubbed out in my "Commercially interesting things to do in EVE" list.
Maybe I'm just burned out again I guess.

Looking at yet another dead ipo/bond thread.
Looks like the standard ipo questions need to include how people will operate under stagnating market conditions, if things don't go according to plan, and if they've suffered from eve burnout.

I've come to the realization, as have others, that this segment of the game is simply broken. The frequency with which people vanish and/or scam is too high, to the point where the operations that do stay true to their word aren't enough to offset the loss from the ones that don't.
Sad, really.

Sorry, Shar... but I'm with Ricdic on this one.
You were supposed to be the sa***uard for investors, which is why I know you are taking responsibility for the loss. Or at least I'm pretty sure it's the reason. But the thing is a large percentage of investors told you to divest yourself of as much stock as possible, we trusted Benvie. It's as much our fault in that regard as yours, unless you're saying you should have ignored most of the investors.
It all comes down to this. If Benvie hadn't disappeared then RDIR would have made far more money. This statement is true assuming you have told us the truth so far. Also assuming you are not Benvie and Benvie is not a close family or personal friend of yours. Unless my assumptions are wrong then I stick to my opinion.
Perhaps my opinion on RDIR does not matter either... perhaps I am no one in that matter either. But I can still state my opinion.
Plus I've had no private corrections, so you'll be forced to correct me in public too it seems.

This is pretty much a sign of an economic downturn. I don't know if it's the first time it's happend in eve but the effects of it are obvious atm.
Easy to be all full of energy when the profits are good but lots of people seem put off by the losses if things don't go according to plan.
This is pretty much why I'm raising my own capital and investing in my own projects. I don't see any significant benefit in raising public funds at this stage. All the collapsed efforts are just making a hard environment.
