In the UK, unauthorised access and disruption of service, regardless if you have the password or not, is a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act.
If someone messed with my servers, I'd just log their details and contact my local police force and let them deal with it.

No one got evicted from thier house, and had thier identity stolen because as TS address was passed around.
Umm doesn't the monetary value of losing a Titan equate to 10k USD? Crashing a server would lead to a battle lost and who knows how many billions in ships. Just saying technically you could put a price on a lost battle.
In all honesty I think its funny, TS imo stinks Vent is way to go, either way though any corp that has to win by these tactics is a crappy corp/alliance. |

If you'd pull your head out of your ass, you'd notice that Ventrilo is even more insecure than TS. The only reason TS is mentioned here, is because TS is used 100 times more than Ventrilo.
Pretty much because TS doesn't cost money to host, Ventrilo does. Plus Ventrilo is 100 times harder to setup with its horrible interface than TS is. You can't make your own mods for Ventrilo as you can for TS (mySQL enabled TS with own coded stuff = gold for an alliance, if coded with API verification and registration)
Need i go on about how bad Ventrilo is compared to TS?. The only GOOD thing about Ventrilo is the obvious fact that the codecs it uses is better than that TS uses.

True story. At work we found an online credit card fraudster who was ordering from us once who was running from a static ip address in the offices where he worked. Got in touch with the police and explained everything. We wanted to email the details over to them, and we got told they don't have email - can we fax it instead?
I highly doubt you'll get the police to do squat unless the damage is fairly significant, and I seriously doubt it is.
Also don't forget it's highly unlikely they "hacked" your TS. More than likely an alt join or someone sold the pw.

The ISP would be interested and would follow the case up.
The great thing about the UK is that telecom/internet stuff comes under the old postal laws because the Royal Mail used to own the telephone system.
Jail terms are hefty you would get less for breaking in the guys house and beating him up than you will for hacking his computer.
A guy got caught hopping onto someones wirelsss access they hadn't protected. He was looking at a five year sentence. It was the ISP who brought the charges not the user.

Do you understand what that means? The only recourse in law in terms of hacking, is the amount of monetary damaged caused.
That is not quite correct.
Mental pain, grief and such is also damaged. Look at many cases and you will see that it counts as damage. Of course it is MUCH more difficult to quantify. Nevertheless, courts will acknowledge physical and emotional pain as damage.
Not always only $$$ counts

If someone gave out your password your teamspeak wasn't hacked. They just read your forums/alliance/corp mail with a spy. Joining a teamspeak server is paramount to opening a webpage, you have no real protection besides what you protect yourself.
If someone actually got administrator access to the server and locked you all out, then you might have a cause for concern.
The correct course of action would be to change your password, and ban any offending IP. Joining a teamspeak server cannot cause malicious damage unless that user can get some administrator level access. --

lol @ OP
The only reason your or anyone else server got hacked is because you lack security. there is no perfect security but its not overly difficult to block out 99.95% of the script kiddies. Or in the worst case just !!oh god!! restart the server.
Razor TS has had 28 attempted DDOS attacks since the start of the insug campaign, only sucessed twice (yay randomly dropping iptables);

The only way anyone is ever going to see the inside of a courtroom in relation to eve would be if someone got drunk at fanfest or a bbq / evemeet and there was mucho violence, or extreme threats / sexual unpleasantness, with witnesses.
Maybe some high rolling hack/fraud but apart from that, you can forget all your bullcrud idocy about hacking servers and such drivel, never gonna happen.

The only way you'll see someone is in court is if someone DOS attacks TS servers hanging off an ISPs network and its large enough for the automated security systems to detect and shut down. Then they'll track it through and bust whoever is on the end of it.
Unlikely but then who wants to go to jail over a game that is the ultimate in sad. Hang yourself with a shoe lace in the cell time.

ts hacking is lame, but you have eve voice, vent, you can set up backup servers etc etc etc
metagaming is part of eve. get used to it. it sucks but its not going to change. be smarter and stay a step ahead of the guy.
best policy is to expect you are being spied on and to expect having your out of game stuff hacked when you need it most, act accordingly.

Yeah, your right, sorta. The underlying fact, is that NO real life isk was spent. No one used RL isk to by that titan (or if they did, they broke the EULA). The fact that the titan = 10k USD is to illlustrate how long it takes to get one. Being pirated and losing your ship in hisec is the same thing, by your logic. I spent a month (15$ USD) saving the isk up to buy said ship, and now its gone. Can i sue in real life the pirates who did that? No. The only way to have a legal case here is to prove that the person who did the hacking caused someone to lose real life money. And in order to prove that, the person trying to sue the hacker would incriminate himself by violating the EULA (buying isk). So, what it all boils down too, is that the OP is screwed, he got pirated, in a manner of speaking. Sucks to be you.
