Anyone use mines? I'm learning some missile skills, and was just curious about their versatility in battle (or anything else). Thanks.

Yup. 100% totally.
They were only ever good to mix up your opponents scanner (and perhaps to lag them at jump-in points before Castor, but that wasn't exactly kosher). They simple do not do enough damage and the mechanics of how they work is inadequately thought-out.

Mines are like the forgotten bastard child of drones and missiles... but nobody likes them, not even the devs. I made a post a while ago about what could be done to make mines usable without making them ³ber, but did they listen? Nope...

I use them, not to kill anyone but to defend myself from npc missles. Very useful for ppl without a lot of skillpoints trained in combat. So far it's been pretty effective.
won't mind a boost to it though

 They are completely FUBARED. I was testing mines on Chaos a short while ago, and heres the problem, although a typhoon or raven can lay around 100+ mines in a short while, the problem arises whenever a ship comes near the minefield. It sets off one mine which in turn sets off a bunch of others (chain reaction happens). If you're lucky one of those mines will hit the target ship...the rest just explode harmlessly in lots of bright lights. They might be useful for just blinding the heck out of your opponent if nothing else.

Question...
If you put mines near a gate then left, when someone in a shuttle came thru and it blows them up, does Concord find you wherever you are in Empire and shoot you, and would you lose sec? Just curious.
