After writing out my BIO, which wasn't that long... It was brief, with colouring, font sizes and stuff. I undock have alook at it and its all messed up, with half of it gone! anyway, I copy and paste half of the orginal throw it in and check it again and what do ya know... half of its gone again, with it all being Font size 24!
I'm not sure if there is a character limit or commands that have to be used, but the BIO is badly messed up, and its probably the most useless thing in EVE like notepad as it doesn't bloody work!!!

Most ppl use bios for useless stuff like lame quotes or combat messages and such, others use it to write something about their char (from the RP point of view) and others don't use it at all.
I'd say it's pretty useless tbh.

Its useless in my opinion because it doesn't work. And if there is a way for it to work, then there should be some sort of thread sticked somewhere.

There's a limit, and it's more strenuous when you use colors and links and stuff. I know, it kinda sucks. I used to have a nice long bio, but I had to trim it down to a collection of useful links instead. The limit was implemented in Eve after I joined. Apparently the old long bios were contributing to lag, so the bios were cut off.

Should be entirely removed, or renamed from BIO to Notes. Its pointless, and annoying when you type up something and its all messed up, especially if you never kept a copy! I'd like for it to be sorted, corrected or whatever... if not, whats the point in having it! especially when I read somewhere that it causes lag! So, remove it!

Don't use colors or larger fonts if you want to try and get it all to fit. Bios are annoying though, people don't seem to understand it's not that impressive hitting a POS for 517.66 damage or w/e. Nor are quotes that are more like inside jokes that nobody but you and Billy understand. Although every now and then you get a nice bio that is out of the ordinary and gives you a nice laugh

Exactly, and thats what I like... but it seems that the BIO is neglected, blamed for lag and stuff like that. Well why not get rid of it! or stop all the ridiculous crap that people put in it... same with the description and notes, does that contribute towards lag? anyway... I want it fixed, or atleast with much larger character limit and reduce the FontSize selection if that causes problems to about 18.

There's nothing wrong with it. There is a character limit. Using formatting tags uses up buttloads of characters without actually displaying the characters.
Solution: don't use a bunch of stupid multicolor/multisize formatting tags, or write shorter.

That is the best solution... but why should it be limited/restricted? Lag issues? honestly, I don't know how but if so, then bios should simply be removed along with the description and notes. even though i would like to write up a bio. Besides, I only coloured my name and changed the font sizes around on some words and it still messed up. So I gave up.
Yer, as the game gets bigger player wise more and more people will want to write their own BIO's so, eventually people will want something done about it.

It's quite simple. Big bios with lots of fancy formatting cause lag wen you try to view the character so they nerfed them.
The solution is simple. Create a blog or a text/html file somewhere outside the game and link to it in your bio, then you can blather on about how you were raised on the milk of Fedo's to your heart's content (hint... you can make an HTML file that is compatible with the IGB and will look quite nice in game)

description is sorta old, but i used to read them when i started
notes i use, so "no".
and bio is where i write my doggerels.

I wrote a long and utterly fascinating bio about my origins and how I had come to join my present corporation.
When I went to post, it disappeared. My creativity module went "waaaahhh!" and I thought I'll be damned if I'll rewrite that masterpiece just to have it happen again.
So I remain an ugly mystery to other players....

I had an ok bio. I would love to have half of it back that I lost with the Bionerf. I really could use the beer truck and tank again.

I had a nice long RP Bio once, then it got nerfed. So I took the time to edit it and reformat it so it would fit again.
Then the bios took a second nerf. This time it left me with a stupidly short space to put my Bio, So I said screw it! Fool me once CCP, shame on you; Fool me twice...
My Bio now consists of something along the lines of this (I am not sure exacty whats in there now cause I am out of game, and I havent checked my Bio in ages):

Bio's used to allow more characters, but CCP reduced the character limit to increase performance (less crap to download). I kinda miss stupidly long bio's... But meh.

Happened several times to me. I'm sorry, but the best option is to accept that CCP is largely useless and can't even put a hard limit on a text box for years. Sad, but true.
Edit: Also, don't use the in-game notepad, saves you from similar frustration.

Interesting.
I've seen a couple people just the other day that had immensely long bios, with colour and size formatting. That stuff about mission types, weapon types, rat damage, rat damage to use, distances in AU, agent offers and so on.
How did they avoid the bio-nerfing? by being unsubscribed when CCP changed it?
What are the limits now anyways?

The limits now are quite short compared to RmR. Why can't they just block bios from being opened in systems that have more than 150-200 people in them if they cause such lag? I mean, extend the allowed length of bios by a fair degree to give people who want to have something useful in their bio room to type, and just block it from being opened when the system is too populated.

Interresting. I had David Lee Roth's "Caldari Girls" in my bio for some time. The very, very short version of course.
