Wondering if i should convert some lp's to faction ammo cruise missiles.
what i want to know is in a CNR with 3x faction bcu's is it time/cost effective to use faction cruise missiles (ie will i complete the mission faster increaseing my isk/hr time enough to justify the lp/isk/missile cost of ammo?)
Now if it is not cost effective, what on earth should i do with my lp's to maximize my isk?
Now i could of course look at the market and and figure that out for myself but i am sure many people have allready done it so why not borrow that information?
Thanks

Faction ammo is ideal for PvP... not so great for PvE, barely above break-even point.
Selling faction ammo is usually fast, since a lot of PvPers will be buying it... but because it's so easy to sell, a lot of people do it (a lot more than the ones they need it, actually), so prices arent's that good. 5% hardwirings usually give pretty decent results, but you might have a long waiting time before you can sell it (especially if you picked the "wrong" one, one with very low transaction volumes). The best ratios for LP-to-ISK can be found in "contracts-only" items (NOT the ships, the modules), but they're also (usually) the hardest to unload.

things like cnr cruise launchers? and what not? i dont like doing that as i have no idea what the going price is on a set (just got back into the game and trying to make some isk before hitting 0.0 and pvp). might try reseraching the hardwirings then.

Marauders. Faction ammo is well worth the cost on those in PvE.

I worked out the extra cost of ammo vs the time you save destroying a few different Serpentis Battleships with faction cruise, and it worked out to be barely worth it. About 12% better than regular ammo assuming you buy them for 2000isk apiece. Taking defenders into consideration, you may end up spending more than the extra isk you get from using faction ammo.
If you get them from the LP store, they are probably worth it... since they are much "cheaper" that way. If you're too lazy to try to resell the stuff, that is.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started.

Edited by: Kenji Kikuta on 29/05/2008 07:31:13 Have you considered using fury (T2) ammo? Fury missiles deal same damage as navy ammo but cost much less. Downside is that the missile range drops significantly and that the capacitor rate is reduced a bit. However, if you have decent missiles skills and 1 velocity rig your range will be around 60 km. This is more than enough for most missions unless you want to snipe.

Yep. For a competent missionrunner faction ammo is worth it altho it's hovering just a bit over breakeven point vs regular ammo. Now T2 ammo is another ballpark, it would be actually better than faction (from isk/h perspective) if it would be possible to switch ammo in all guns at the same time (promised, but not yet delivered feature).
Depends also somewhat if you are using navy or T2 launchers ofc. Faction ammo is usually used in tandem with navy launchers and that way it has slight edge over T2 that's not possible to use in navy launchers, altho in real missions speed difference between navy and T2 launchers is cosmetic (up to approx 1 minute per mission, as navy launcher RoF advantage comes into play only if you have to shoot several volleys at target), that is assuming they both are using same ammo.

amarr navy multifrequency and scorch in the paladin! multifreqency and microwave in the cargohold as i don't want to waste it shooting at guristas but still want to add damage. (really should pick up the fittings for that raven I have laying around)
sansahs/bloods/drones/mercs just melt to the mf/scorch soooo much faster than if i was shooting at them with a raven

Not to go on a sidetrack but is it more or minnie ships slowest for mission? (Seems as though nobody uses them for missions, all I hear is CNR/Raven)I currently use a maelstrom with 8 1200 meta 3 guns. It seems faction ammo seems to do more but I thought was only a PvP deal.

There is no right answer here. Even though faction ammo is 'worth it' for e.g. Assault vs Serpentis, it's definitely NOT worth it for e.g. Massive Attack or Mordus Headhunters. Any mission with lots of travel time and/or few battleships will cut into your cost effectiveness quite a bit.
I use a mixture of t1, t2 and faction ammo when trying to set speed records since I'm too cheap and paranoid to get faction *anything* on my CNR. And yeah, I don't touch drones/sansha/bloods/amarr navy except with my trusty Abaddon. =)

Its cost effective so long as you take say 1000units of cheap ammo for those slow buildings and stuff that you want to blow up. ____ ôToo many times. If you are flying a Golem, then you can use faction ammo for missions and npcing. For a CNR stick to regular ammo, unless of course you are pvping.

Its also very much about what the faction ammo is used in.
Consider AC vs Arty. Arty gets higher damage modifier hence less ammo used / target. For ac with high fire-rate its usually not worth it in pve.
In pvp its defo always worth it, because 12.5 - 15% more damage is only a good thing when your ass is on the line. -- Everyone is someone elses wierdo. |

What worked for me was loading up regular cruise missiles that I manfacture for myself and also T2 precision cruise missiles.
The precision cruise missiles help me take down the smaller ships very quickly and so the mission does wrap up faster. I do find myself using up less ammo as a result.
