I think it's about time to give everyone an extra free day on their accounts.

1/30th (or so) of 15 dollars to each individual player and thousands lost to CCP? Why is that a good idea? ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Can't say I see why. You signed up to a continuous development product so you have to expect some downtime. In fact it specifically states in the EULA that CCP are not responsible for downtime which should pretty much set your expectations.
Sure, we could have a 100% stable game. CCP would have to outlay millions on additional hardware, the patch cycle would extend to 6 months instead of around 1, and you would have to pay the kind of money commercial subscribers pay for database systems access ... hundreds or thousands of $ per month. You would also be complaining that development took too long.
I think the communication could be better, but otherwise I reckon we get exactly what we should expect. A damn good game that is in a continual state of development and so has a few hiccups from time to time. Give the guys a break and use the downtime as an opportunity to re-aquaint yourself with RL. - - - I prefer the "reconnaisance by fire" approach to negotiation.

ok here's the thing, nobody cares about one day, it's like half of dollar or something, 37 isk.
Yet CCP repaying 10000 paying subscribers those half dollars would cost them quite alot so no, there's no need to give us one day free.

I have problems with how CCP work but a refund or free day is probably not the right thing to do.
CCP should show how sorry they are for any hassle cuased by maybe giving everyone a free bonus item or maybe some ISK. A simple act of good faith like that would go a long way. === [i]I'm telling you Teal'C if we don't find a way out of this soon I'm gonna loose it. Yeah, I agree, every time theres a minor problem with the server everyone climbs out of the woodwork and starts complaining and midering ccp to fix it immediately because of an hour or two's loss of gameplay.
Dont you have anything better to do?
Go outside for a walk or load up another game, complaining constantly and demanding unreasonable things of ccp isnt helping any.
IMHO ccp has done a great job with eve and the server, bear with the bugs and occasional server glitches, its not like they can be fixed overnight, nothing an no one is perfect.

After coming from Diablo II, and trying a few MMORTS's i found this, and i much prefer the activeness of CCP to try and correct problems which may arise (which usually results in downtime), instead of having to play 2-3 months with NO information about what is going on with the repairs/fixes and sometimes playing on abysmally laggy servers for weeks on end.

What? All they have to do is extend the billing date by one day. That's easy. And everyone gets a free day that way.
Piece of cake nStuff.

Its only happened 2 times in EVE. Think one was during the Roll-Back waaaaay back near the release and one was sometime when I went on vacation. Think it was 2 or 3 days total. Still they won't unless the servers, like back then, where up and down almost the whole day and I mean whoooole day. Fear The Bunny

People getting stuck for hours, petitions up the wazzo, can't do anything reliable without CTD'ing or locking up the computer.
Like everything else this is a minor hickup, they put new hardware in and well it was never tested and heres the test. Theres some issues to be worked out yes, but its getting worked on like others said.
BTW go read the EULA. Fear The Bunny

Is nStuff talking about collective downtime from the server upgrades or was their some downtime today that I never knew about (only logged in today to change skill)?

Total I suppose.
Lets see... We get: $ (1/30)*14.95 = 50 cent each. CCP loses: $.5*50000 = $25000
Doesn't look good to me, I don't care about 50 cents (49.8) but I'm sure CCP cares about $25k...

Yes, there has been a slight amount of increased down time this month, but the overall benefit of the down time is for the positive. The investment in the hardware upgrade was done to reduce the amount of lag and increase player capacity. The patches added are to make the game more stable and improve the game experience.
In the long run, the recent down times will be far outweighed by the improvements made during the down times.

Ah.. always glad to hear when another complete dip **** plans to put me on ignore. Right on..
Most of my posts are either on the Idea Labs forums, like this one nStuff. Or they are Bug Reports on the Patch Review forums like this one nStuff..
Now reporting problems and suggestions about the game, to you might seem like whining.. But to me it's making a difference.
What have you done lately?

(Mods, this is not a rant, this is a retort :-)
What I have done lately, Mr (Puff) nStuff, is play the game and not make it my personal duty to point out every flaw and inconsistancy. I've enjoyed my time, the scenery, the peace and tranquility of space... I have not whined, complained, gotten uptight, and sent threatening EVEmails to people who dare contests your uber-greatness on the forums - then, like the coward you are, you block me so I cannot even reply in kind. Pretty spineless.
Quote: EVEMail from Mr nStuff on 2004.05.05 22:19:00 Welcome to the Mr_nStuff KOS list.. Enjoy your stay in empire space.

So, I'll reply here just so you know that I am not afraid of you or "your kind". Be it known that my corporation and affiliates have ZERO tolerance for idle threats, so I hope you plan to fulfill your promise to "KOS" me. FWIW, about 20 of my friends got a good laugh at your less-than-important threats. Bring it on.
You expend quite a lot of energy holding grudges, getting even, expecting something for nothing, or touting what a "victim" you are. Meanwhile, I'll be having fun not thinking about you in the slightest, because you are below zero on the Johnsus Importometer, waiting for you to spend all your time hunting me down.

Mr nStuff,
Does your crying and whining ever cease? If you read the EULA, you will notice that they have no obligations to even have the servers working for ANY amount of time, EVER.
So taking them down for maintenance or upgrades, which BENEFITS the customer in the long run, is something you should want to happen. NOT b!tch and whine on the forums about getting an extra free day out of it.
God, stupid people never cease to amaze me.

Johnsus,
I think this thread, and especially that thoroughly pathetic Eve-Mail you received, is deserving of a war declaration . . . gonna go talk to the CEO and dust off the 'ole level 3 location service agent .
Cao
EDIT: actually I remember seeing Mr nStuff in local recently, just can't remember where . . . ah well, that's what the good ole agent is for.
