But I did want to point out that your ship scales are slightly off. A merlins bridge isnt meant for one person, A merlin still has a sizeable crew and is much bigger than what you made it out to be. Same with the tempest and other ships. For instance, the scale you had for the spacing of your 1400mm howitzers was a bit too low. In my opinion they should be very far apart. EVE ships are HUGGGEE. Here is a video that will show you the scale of an omen compared to a person size comparison( shown around 1 minute into video). Also without a pod pilot, a tempest requires a crew of hundreds or even thousands of people, and with a pod pilot it sill requires a good amount of crew members. But all that isn't a big deal. It really is an amazing movie and I hope you are making more.
true enough, but he does mention that he bends the laws of eve a bit in order to better tell his story :P
as cool as it would be to have a crew of a few hundred or thousand running around in the background I think it would change the whole feel of the show ^^ Make it seem more like Star Trek instead of like Firefly (which I <3)
Can't stop watching it though! Even made DVDs to give my friends that are too lazy to download it :-D Absolutely great video

Great work, read in EON that clear skies would fly again, Im looking forward to that.
The dilema of always damaging your ship reminds me of my own playing, though Im the bad guy most of the time.

I've just had an fantastic interview with Urban and Winterblink for the Warp Drive Active podcast on Sunday, talking about Clear Skies and addressing a fair few of the questions and comments raised here, so that should be worth a listen if you are interested I noted a bit of a discussion about the film style and actors and stuff a couple of pages back, but I wasn't expecting everyone to like it - each to their own and all that. I'm staggered by the percentage of people who do like it to be honest, I'm flattered and honoured and running out of nice words to use in general!
To be clear, we all have absolutely no training or experience whatsoever in acting or filmmaking before Clear Skies, so I think we did pretty darn good The driver behind CS was me and my friends having some fun and me having a creative outlet. It wasn't to try and wtfpwn the Eve video circles or show off or anything like that. Any subsequent stuff I do will be under the same driver
If this has raised the bar for eve film making then that's an honour I'm proud to carry - I want other people to pick this up and run with it (with perhaps less rotating cameras and British accents or whatever ) My website will have all the info and notes I have on the Half Life 2 SDK to save others from having to go through the 6 months of pain I did sussing it all out, which should speed up development time. I'm just one person, I imagine there are film-making teams out there now plotting and scheming their blockbusters who will complete them in less than half the time, and I for one welcome it and look forward to their films. Machinima 2.0 here we come!
Oh and before I go, a big thank you to the people who have donated ISK to me, that's such a warm and generous gesture, I'm truly touched especially as a sizeable one came from a group of people whom I'm ostensibly enemies with! I salute and thank you all, this is a very good day

I know this is a long way off from the date you posted this message. however this must be said. even if people start making their own flims off what you started JR. They still are only copying what you set in stone. very few things can bring out the masses like this. No one can touch Clear Skies. If you and your friends ever get the ball rolling to make a series out of this (like we all hope ). youll have the fan base to take it as far as you want to go. i cant get enough of watching the movie and you have a fan that will promote this project of yours. (tips hat) god speed and i hope too see your next one in the near future.

i'm always looking for excuses to watch it again, hehehe. i'd invite friend's over to check it out, have spammed the link thru my myspace several times. and more than once just kicked back with my 5 month boy on my lap in front of the pc with CS playing on both monitors, hehehe.
Awesome work JR and friends :)

JR , just absolutely brilliant ! I converted to DVD format and watched it with my family , they all loved it ! My son especially so as he is into Garys Mod big time, and has played Eve as a trial account, and he is into animation/editing, ive played both HL and Eve (Eve is my main game now, rest are dust and weeds) Humour and story is great, leave the characters as they are , cant wait for the follow ups if you have time
Seems you have a latent talent , maybe a career change is on the horizon ?

I cant say enough about this movie, I feel like i should have payed 8 us dollars to watch it in a theater, it was well written, gr8 characters, awesome footage and camera work, the editing second to none, all done without a huge production company! You have set the standard!, and yes here is just another topic reply that gushes thanks and praise for a job over and above anybodies expectation

Edited by: Svenjabi Xiang on 10/08/2008 18:30:00 I think I downloaded this the third day it was out after a few corpies pointed me in its direction. Since then, there are very few days where it doesn't seem to come up in the pile of things I do daily. It's at the point where the girlfriend has walked by and said "have you watched it yet... have you wantched it yet.." along with Charlie in the early portion of the video.
When's the next one due out?

Ian Chisholm this is by far the most funny and entertaining piece of movie made by a non "professional" that ive have ever seen, im really hoping for some more episodes since the plot, the very different characters behaviour and way of looking at the different situations is a refreshing change. and one of the first things that caught my attention was that you had really put an effort into making the movie evolve around the eve univers, with the hammer on the nail, why by insurance when you fly in a metal scarp boat =)
this film is great fun to watch and for anyone playing eve the details on the fitting and the "geek" teems is a brilliant way of making conversations between the characters an actual conversation between players in the eve univers, when we ***** over the wrong settings or the unfairness of a battle we jumped right into...
you have erned more respect in the univers of eve in making this movie, than ccp has in making eve =)
Hoping for a sequal

I am not going to read all 47 pages of kudos and I haven't seen the whole video yet; just the intro between the mechanic and the pilot, and I already know its great. CCP needs to hire this creative genius on the spot. A series like this could have internet-wise following in the fashion of viral advertisement.
P.S. Clear Skies has NO tank to speak of, lmao!
