This seems to me to be the main issue with this discussion. Most people supporting the falcon only sees it from a 0.0 perspective, where they fly in fleets. For all i know the falcon might be perfectly balanced for fleet engagements. However in low sec where we fly in small gangs the picture changes dramaticly.
So you suggest CCP nerf the Falcon even when it's perfectly balanced in 0.0 just to satisfy your needs? ------------------------ |

You do know that what you've suggested as "fix" for the Falcon will totally destroy its abilility to function in 0.0? ------------------------ |

Originally by: Akiba Penrose I dont, please explain.
"better counter to ECM" - There already exists numerous counters against Falcons in 0.0, adding more/better will just hurt its useage even more as it's already hard enough to stay alive today with all the nano, ceptors, bubbles and drones.
"adjusting the jamming range on the falcon." Any kind of range reduction will mean a certain death or total neutralization of a Falcon in anything but small gang fights as that is the Falcon's primary tank.
"stacking penalties, other penalties and immunity to jams" Jammers are already chance based. By adding even more penalties will most definately make jammers useless to a point were Falcon pilots would rather bring another ship to a fleet as it will make Falcons usefulness to cost to survivability ratio low enough that it simply isn't worth it.
Falcons are always primary in a fight, if it's not then the enemy fleet deserves to die anyway. ------------------------ |

Is the Rook as underused in 0.0 as it is in low-sec? Months have passed since I last saw a Rook, while I see Falcons on a daily basis.
Hmmm, maybe that ship should have a role which isn't rendered invalid by it's sister ship doing all it can do plus a covops cloak.
Covops cloak must come at a (significant) price. It prevents effective scouting and provides you with a significant factor of suprise in addition to being a show-stopper in any small gang combat as much as a Rook is (which you incidentally don't see people complaining about!).
Yes, Rooks aren't used alot in 0.0 either except for smallish roaming gangs. Fleet fights tend to favor Falcons as the cloak is 1000x more useful than some extra damage that you probably wont use anyway cause of the range you are sat at. ------------------------ |

Originally by: Ulstan Also, people are complaining about falcons in small gang fights where they've had time to prepare and set up...this is the absolute best situation for a falcon.
This
If a gang with Falcons already has set up numerous bookmarks in the system you are fighting at then they have obviosuly taken their time to prepare and therfore has supieror tactics than those that haven't. That's not something they should be punished for. ------------------------ |

Originally by: Akiba Penrose When it comes to the ôpaper thinötank it is so because you chose to fit it that way. Falcons have the same option to fit a tank as the rest of the force recons. It is because of the offensive capabilities it has that it is called primary, not its lack of tank. I don't think it means instadeath if it looses a cycle either. All the other recons have to stay within 100km, and they seem to somewhat manage.
WTF, if you fit it anyway else, you might aswell bring another kind of ship. All other recons don't get primaried every single time they appear on the battlefield.
IF you want to nerf the Falcon in lowsec, PLEASE come up with a way that DOES NOT make it totally useless in 0.0.
Until that day, don't you dare touch it. ------------------------ |

Originally by: Dinique Tell that to Huginn and Rapier pilots, they have to get to 30-40km to do their job. Same went for the Arazu before it sucked. The Curse doesn't exactly find itself at the bottom of the list when it comes to priority targets either.
Get real. While I am against a Falcon nerf, your statement is ignorant and speaks to a lack of experience.
a) If you were FC and there was 1 recon of each race, who would you primary first?
b) Both gallente and minmatar recons can fit a buffertank and nano, so if they get targeted they can burn out and warp away. Falcons must dedicate all their midslots, lowslots and rigslots to be competitive. ------------------------ |
