That is awesome, It's about time I saw CCP grace the cable-viewing audience with your kick-ass content in some from of a AD Perfect place to start.
Has anyone seen this AD yet? What network is it - We view it on Sci-Fi Channel in the US, dunno if thats the right one or not.
Not specifics said about what network, or what time its being shown, so I don't know if I missed it or not yet - if its even on Sci-Fi channel.
Someone record it and post it on youtube or something if possible :) ____________________

Pretty please?

Defiantly. Wrangler was a bit unspecific about when - so I don't even know if I can check it.
Sarah Jane Adventures is on Sci-Fi now, BSG will be playing later today and be over like around midnight my time I guess - but chances are I would watch for it and nothing would show because it was the wrong time or place.
Hopefully it is airing off Sci-Fi, otherwise it probably will only be European viewers that will see this. ____________________

I wouldn't worry about it. It's clearly a move to try and advertise EVE to a larger group of people, and BSG is a great show to advertise in. I'm fairly certain that CCP wouldn't pass up the opportunity to pull in American viewers (Who tend to be really obsessive about Sci-Fi).
As for not being specific on exactly what time it will air... DUH! They want you to WATCH THE SHOW and all the other advertisements! Silly players.

Yea I agree that BSG is probably the most perfect place to start advertising for the game. The response a BSG fan will make seeing a MMORPG with great graphics, fleet action, and cool space battles, would be obvious. ____________________

I checked to see if Wrangler was around to update, but alas he wasn't.
Just to clarify further.
A revised version of the first Empyrean Age teaser will air on SciFi Network in the US on tonights new episode of Battlestar Galactica. Check your local listings for times. (It's running between 10-11 for you folks on EST). It will run again this Sunday during the replay of Fridays epsiode. Same schedule the following week for the mid-season finale.
If my sources were correct, it should be airing on the commercial segment during the last 30 mins of the show for this first run.
Stay tuned!

Edited by: Amastat on 31/05/2008 01:23:32 The game is more well known in Europe as it is, so I always have believed that CCP would benefit a lot if they did more advertising in the US - which is what they were doing. They shouldn't be sorry for it.
It would of been more epic to broadcast it all around but the US is probably the best place to put the AD if your going to only choose one place to advertise in at first.
As for more and more noobs, it's all good - ultimately more stuff to shoot at nothing wrong with noobs, just as long as we don't let the WoW ones try turning the game into WoW - then we just deny them and grief them out of the game ____________________

I presume this would be in Europe though? Wasn't aware that CCP ever advertised the game on cable before - but don't think I've ever seen it broadcasted on American cable before - this will be the first time I think. ____________________

They picked a terrible week of a terrible season to do this. Tonight's episode is going to pull in some of the lowest ratings ever for BSG. Between the fact that this season hasn't been doing too well, and the fact that everyone who really cares about the show (who is male, at least) already watched the SkyOne airing, it will result in very poor ratings tonight. CCP should have done this about 3 years earlier, but then again the ad time is probably ridiculously cheap since the show is tanking right now. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Automated Influence Map |

Or the : "How do you fly?" post.
Or even better: "I thought this was like the BSG video game, CCP lied, I'm canceling my subscription!" Signatures are annoying...kinda like me. |

America doesn't get Sky. The ad will get plenty of views.
Plus generalized wtf this is a fine season, etc.

To Verite:
Yea it would of been stupid to air 3 years ago tbh. The graphic content was not released then, not much capital action - not as awesome to put in a TV ad. Battlestar Galatica was also not yet such a hit deal as it is now, and a smaller audience. So - it actually would of been the worst time to air it during BSG time of the day, doing what your saying.
To Andre:
Yea, America doesn't get sky, and they said American Sci-Fi - so it's just us, I suppose UK will see it a year later
I don't mind new people coming into the game, makes things a little more interesting - just so long the influx of new pilots doesn't increase EVE's ****** population which is at current, thanfkully, at a low. However, thankfully, EVE's harsh world and kick-ass design usually filters out the stupid part of the influx of new pilots and they quit after the first month because they can potentially lose all their assets and SP.
If you see a idiot nub that would be a burden to EVE-O community, just blow them up while they're young. All it takes is to nuke the idiots brand new cruiser and we won't have to hear from them again hopefully - if not, who cares. Eventually they will get into some PvP of some sort, take a heavy loss, and quit then; one less idiot to plague the game. ____________________

Americans get BitTorrent, it's just as good as SkyOne. As for if it's a fine season or not, the series is consistently hitting 1.3/1.2 ratings, near record lows for the series and believed to be at least .3 points below where the series needs to be to charge ad rates where they can break even. The show is not doing well this season.
Graph of ratings
In fact S1 (3 years ago) would have been ideal, the ratings were much, much higher. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Automated Influence Map |

Not sure exactly what was played for the commercial... but isn't it kind of false advertising?
1. It'll take you a couple years before you ever pilot a nyx. IF you ever do. 2. You can't go to high sec with them and ram stations.
or if they played the new teaser.
3. You can't fly a titan and jumpbridge a whole bunch of junkers into high sec.
Then again that is sort of what video game people do things. ------------------------ "There was this bright flash of light - and now this egg shaped thing is on my screen - did I level up?" |

Thats the point, the longer it's in mind, the better.
If someone in the audience actually has to ask that question means the commercial is 5000 more effective than a lysol commercial or burger king ad.
