i insta-popped a couple of targets in jita and i get the killmail but after the lag settles down there is no wreckage of the victim. this is making me believe that i did not destroy the target and only got killed by concord instead, especially since there is no hate mail or death threats from the victims....
i recored it in fraps and watched it over to make sure the missiles hit and registered damage (which they did) so i am thinking that i took the security hit and loss of ship for nothing.
can anyone confirm that the client will actually play out all the animations and calculations even if it's not in-sync with the server?

Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you destroy a ship, the wreck appears slightly off the center of the explosion? Sometimes the wreck can spawn several kilometers away (probably related to de-sync issues), so you should keep an eye out for this.

i know the vultures materialize almost instantly and go after the wrecks in jita but i could not even see the empty wreck on my overview...

well, what can i say i am a griefer at heart. a bastard if you will. i get a good laf out of this. 
i sat outside jita 4-4 at undock point and insta-popped the tech 2 frigates with me stealthbomber a few seconds after they undock. poor souls undock and attempt to go about their business when suddenly they are in their pod. i lose 16 million and a small sec hit and the poor victims loses much more. some of you may hate my guts for doing this but i like to think that i am helping to fight the lag (since ccp isn't) in jita by discouraging people from going there.

If he fired the missile then got blown into his pod then the missile hit and got the kill that would be the awesome.

Your ship get destructed because you attacked the other ship, not because you destroyed it, so CCP should reimburse you nothing.

If I initiate warp, cloak, dock ecc. the missiles lose lock and don't damage the target.
Seem strange that they don't lose lock and still damage the target after the ship is destroyed.

They do lose lock when the ship is destroyed as well, it just takes a couple seconds so if the missiles are about to reach their target when you die, they'll still hit.

Even though I hate griefers I think this guy deserved to die becouse he had a horribly crow setup with a 150m mwd.
Polycarbons should have been fitted to make it worthwhile with the deadspace mwd... And cap rechargers? wtf this setup should permarun with a few skills.

Sounds quite possible to me.
I destroyed a Jaguar in a belt once, and the wreck spawned in a different belt.
Probably, he was able to warp out. I had to get out of the range of a Rupture that had just warped in and was 30km away from the Jaguar when it exploded - or was supposed to explode.
However, my drones laid the final blow on the Jaguar because I got the killmail.
Of course the wreck was already looted when I had finished off the Rupture

Concord doesn't spawn if gate sentries kill you first, judging by killmail + victims ship id guess he was using a stealth bomber, which dies to 1 volley from sentries. Hence, Concord wouldn't spawn, therefore no spawn lag.

Who the hell takes a 400m ship to courier some tags anyway... If he wanted to be fast in empire I'd take a cruiser with nanofibers + shield extenders... something with a bit of tank for the suicide gankers/griefers.
And when he was planning to go trough low sec/null sec we come back at my point where he should have fitted polycarbons!

ccp should re-imburse me IF the kill was not real on the other side. the particular kill mail i posted says my capsule got the kill so obviously my ship blew up before the missiles made contact BUT i am extremely close to the target before i fire so the missiles will hit the target regarldess. at my range i can fire and even cloak and the missiles will hit for damage. judging by the kill mail, my ship could be destroyed and the missiles will register damage. i recorded these grief episodes with fraps and viewed the footage to make sure i saw the yellow messege indicating my missiles registered damage.
also, since i know what the victim had outfitted (thanks to the killmail again) there is no way he could have survived the alpha-strke so this is another incentive for me to make sure these kills count.
i had another couple of kills like this with the exception that it was not my capsule that got the final blow, it was my manticore but there was still no overview wreck and no hate mail from the victim.
the bottom line is this; per game mechanics i got the kill mail so i deserve it to be true in real life. because of this i continued my gameplay and got some more of these kinds of kills while abosrbing the death penalties. if the kills are not true (and my penatlies are) then ccp should re-imburse me because. i realised my penalty when i opened fire and the victims should realize theirs when they undocked, it is that simple.
the missile modules were set to active before i chose the target so i know that all the missiles fired at the same time. when i see one yellow damage report on the screen indicated a missile registered damage i know all 3 of them did at the same time. i also had 1 point of scrambler on the target so there is no way he could have engaged warp. again, all modules were pre-active before the initial lock so they all became activate at same time. my only mistake was to fail to view the logs after this because my excitement and curiusoity of where the wrecks were made me forget. but i guess that does not matter since the kill mail is proof that enough damage registered to kill the victim.
