How do you identify which ship(s) is warp scrambling you? There is the EWAR setting in the overview, but it does not mark the enemy ship (that I can see ) that is doing the warp scramble. Obviously finding and killing the scrambler(s) is a bit of a priority at times.....
How do you make the ID fast?

Edited by: Rhys Onasi on 01/06/2008 06:39:44 The Old way: look for the blue ray-thingy coming from a small frig orbiting your ship.
The New way: Look at overview and see which one has scramble icon on it. Make sure that all ship types are on theoverview, and that all ewar is showing up by checking the overview settings.
Also, if you haven't actually been scrambled and prevented from warping out, and you are just looking at the overview in every mission to see shich ones are the scramblers, I once went 3 weeks without being scrambled in ANY l4 mission. It was right after the overview ewar notification was out, I thought I had a bug or something. I just wasn't being scrambled. lol
EDIT: Well. Make sure you have overview set so the nearest ship is at the top of overview. Then look on the right edge of the overview, and there should be a little blue scrmable module icon in one of the rows. Row=1 ship.

actualy you can see it in the overview. It shows what ships are currently affecting you with something its in the right hand side on the same line as the ship _____________________________________________ yawnnnnn |

its usually the frigs who does the ewar, kill all frigs first and you are good ...

A general rule is that most of the elite frigates scramble you.
Stuff with Dire or Elder in front of their name.

In some missions doing this ^ actually triggers either respawns or gets you aggro from unwanted groups. Use Eve-Survival for further assistance. Recruitment

This is not a good advice. a. the frigs can be the triggers for more ships to pop up b. if you let the drones kill the scramble frigs in some missions this will tempt other groups in the pocket to attack you (i.e. aggress you) c. if you kill them yourself without drones, depending on your weapons and the number and the kind of frigs (some have 40m sig, some 25m), you are usually having a hard time killing them all first, because the bigger ships keep firing at you at full dps. So the general advice is rather: kill off the damage dealers first (cruisers and battlecruisers) to reduce incoming damage quickly and be able to tank the rest just fine.

Agree with Brat Valve completely. If you knock out the majority of the damage dealers first especially CA/BC's then your fine. The frigs can barely touch you damage wise so who cares if their scrambling you
I always think that people going for these frigs first are wasting time especially if your using your main armament (turrets / missiles). Go for the damage dealers then when your almost done release your drones and let them mop up the frigs while you pop the last few BS's.

Thanks guys! I had not been warp scrambled, at least that affected me in running L4 missions until last night. I lost a raven because I waited until half armor before hitting the warp out button....
I could not determine which of the eight or ten frigs to kill and my overview did not give me a visual clue. I had by that time several back up spawns of drones. Later when I looked at my overview settings nothing I checked gave me that visual clue as to who was scrambling me when I did a test setup. I'll go back and try the suggestions here.
Normally I kill the bigger ships and let the hybrids and drones kill the frigs, but in this mission I had a lot of drones on the overview and didn't realize I'd been scrambled until I needed to run.....

By the way, there are a very few BCs and/or BS that can scramble as well. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Drone BS are easy to make out, the big +, like every other faction as well. It gets trickier with the others, but I usually do it in this order:
Alvatis (Battlecruisers) Alvium (Cruisers) Alvus (Battleships)
Let drones kill the Alvi (Frigates) and the Destroyers (dunno what they're called,Apis or something)
Oh and when you hit 10-20% shield, it's usually time to run ^^

And make sure you can actually see the row with the ewar icons, as for me it doesnt have a header, its this first seemingly empty row in the overview.

The tackler drones in lvl 4's are usually prefixed with Strain.

Not really, this can trigger nasty new spawns or more aggro. I tend to kill BCs, then Cruisers, then BS while I let my drones start on the frigates.
Against Blood Raiders and Sanshas, I take out the BS first since they die relatively fast and anything else does next to no damage.

Typically the elite frigates are the ones doing the scrambling (bounties of 30k)
Drone scramblers are the 'strain' type.
Depending on the mission, kill those first.
If you have to warp out and are scrambled, have your drones get on the elite frigates ASAP.
Recently they added an indicator for who was doing what ewar to you on the overview. It appears in the very right hand part of your 'ship types' column overview, I think. It's a tiny little icon and easy to miss if you aren't looking for it.

Note that even if you are in a missile ship, you can attempt to "snipe" the elite frigates. They will start MWDing towards you, at which point they start taking a lot more damage and die in 1/2-1 volley.
One reason why the velocity tab on the overview is important imo, if you see anything that has aggroed you going at a speed that's far above the norm (battleships going 400-800 m/s, frigates going up to 2000 and more) start shooting it, it will take a lot more damage.
