I heard a player say in game that he gathers research points for his income. I've read up on some basics about this, that you have to start work with R&D agents and then they will produce a certain amount of these points each day. But I have trouble finding information about converting them into ISK - how much income does this generate? Say I have several agents who make me 250 points daily, how much ISK would they make me per month? Thanks ahead for all the answers :)

You need to convert the RP into datacores (by speaking to your agent) - and the amount of money these datacores bring in is determined entirely by their market prices.
Expect the profitability of datacores per month to be somewhere near, but slightly above, the cost of buying a month's worth of GTC. This is because RP farming is something that can easily be done with an alt, so if datacore prices are much higher, people will just start alt accounts and fund them with GTCs, thus increasing the supply. The supply will continue to increase (and thus the price decrease) until people decide it's no longer creating more alts to do this.
Interestingly there is a very slow update in this respect because it will take around two weeks or so between someone taking the decision, and their effects showing on the market. Thus it's very easy for the market to over-compensate if lots of people jump on a bandwagon at once. For example, MechEng datacores were about 2m each I think a few months ago - and now they're a tenth of that (as everyone trained up their alt to produce MechEng datacores since they were by far the most expensive).
So yeah - trade RP for datacores and sell. Or use in invention yourself.

250 points per day would currently get you about 38 million ISK per month.
The price of datacores is dropping at a rate of about 10% per month, so expect that to be closer to 34 million by the time you actually have the RP.
The skills need to collect those RP will cost you 50 million. So you are looking at atleast two months just to get back the cost of the skills needed.
Datacore prices are expected to continue dropping for the forseable future.

So what is the conversion of research points to datacores? How many datacores can you get for your rp?

I get datacores from my mechanical engineering research, and electronic research, for 50 research points per datacore.
If you do research into weapons, I believe you earn twice as many research points per day, but the datacores cost you twice as many research points.
For ship research, you earn three times as many research points per day, and the datacores cost you three times as many research points.

250 points a day is also quite high; it would require high standings with the R&D corp and agents, so that you can use high level agents. Would also require multiple agents, so you have to either grind the faction for many alts, or buy and train the 60 mil ISK skills.
If you have a 1-day-old alt with no faction, working with a L1 agent, you get something like 8 points per day. 50 - 90 points / day / agent you have high faction with is probably the average.
