So my options are to either stay in high sec doing missions until I hate the game so much that I punch my computer screen, or being a lucrative career of VELDSPAR mining!
Guarding a jumpgate is one thing, having a field of warp disruption is silly. I do not mind dying to players who are skilled and have trained their characters to kill. But how hard is it to kill a character who can't warp away? I imagine quite easy. But I have never been on the opposite side of that. Maybe I am wrong.
Anyways, thanks for the moments in space. I really hope your not serious with your above post. |

Don't listen to those liars.............. EVE is full of perfect safe places! They are called : Station.
Hmmmm, serious. I'm playing over 1 year, playing in a WH class 5 and surroundings, most of the time alone and guess what? I still suck at PVP but I learned to fly cheaper ships for more dangerous situations. That and a few tricks such as covert ops and cloaking. Training doesn't take too long. It's a game, but if you don't feel like being killed much when on ur own................ get in a group or search another way to play the game, there is way more then high sec mining. Ask ur "friends" to pick you up and fly together to their system? |

These friends of yours. . .are they people you meet in-game or are they people you already know outside of Eve
As most people are saying (apart from the guffaws of laughter), if you're new, inexperienced, and don't have the appropriate skills, don't go to lowsec alone. It's simply not going to work out well
If your "friends" aren't going to come to your aid when you've been attacked, or help you refit if you follow their advice on traveling to lowec, then they ain't friends
It sounds to me like you're being duped and consequently lead into a well planned trap. No one pods a newbie. Well, almost no one. There's no point. You won't lose that many skillpoints if your clone isn't up to date, and you probably can't afford implants that are worth anything yet
But seriously, the cardinal rule for lowsec is never travel alone (unless you're skilled up and highly experienced)
Eve is not about making a million isk per hour on any unskilled character, but remember that the game, as any, is designed for players to learn as they increase in experience/expertise
Its possible to play in highsec and enjoy the game immensely, depending on your in-game goals. Running missions is really the best way to enjoy the game in solo play mode, and is useful in more than one way. You gain reputation, opening up higher level missions and simultaneously teaching you, the player, the ins and outs of combat skills, including such things as what you can and can't do in { insert ship type here }.
In fact, that'd be my number one suggestion. Forget lowsec and go run missions. It will change your gaming experience, I guarantee it. |

First, no. Nearly everything you said is total crap, and I will explain why:
1.) Flying solo in a fast frig/destroyer/cruiser or a badass BS that can tank 6-7 people while you pop them one by one is the best way to enjoy the game solo. If you actually think that going into a predefined and documented environment and shooting red crosses until your eyes fall out of your head and your IQ drops by 3 pts per hour, your definition of fun may be the same as watching snails copulate.
2.) Missions do not show you the ins and outs of combat. All it teaches you at best is close range, hit Orbit, mash F1. If you think that's the ins and outs of combat, I welcome you to come to my home system and try that with me. You will utterly humiliated and destroyed. The only way of being able to learn true combat is to go out and do it against live players. You will lose ships. You will make mistakes, but you will learn from them, hopefully. FRAPs every battle you can and go back and watch it over and over and over again. You will so what you did wrong, and most importantly what you did right.
My best advice to you, OP, is to not listen to people who know next to nothing about PVP or combat. They are inept people who are trying to lull you into their mediocrity so they can feel better about their choice to avoid the best thing about this game: the PVP. This game has crap for PVE, but it's PVP makes up for it. So train up for T2 Frigs, and in the meantime grab a Rifter or what have you and blow some stuff up. Once you mastered the frigs, go from there. There is nothing quite as satisfying as blowing up someones Navy Megathron with a Rifter. Post with your main or GTFO! |

If they want you to join them but cannot scout you and or help you move your stuff and explain to you how to NOT get podded in lowsec even if you lose your ship, they are not very good EVE friends (even if you enjoy their company out of the game). That, or start actually listening to their advice...
Quote:Speed of the computer your playing on does have a impact on how fast your screen/controls changes from being in a ship to out of a ship in a pod. If your computer isn't up to the task, you will get caught alot more than someone with a better computer.
When you know your ship is going to go down, do not wait until you see your pod in space before attempting to warp. Instead, in low structure or whatever on the ship kill, pick a celestial to warp to, and start hitting the warp-to button. Spam it 2-3 times a second until you see your pod in warp. Problem solved. |

Just wait for the next expansion or two. CCP will nerf this into the ground right after they ruin all the other fun things in eve. |

I am sure if you try real hard, you can whine about this even more and in even more unrelated threads! Adapt or GTFO. It's not like even suicide ganking in high-sec still is any sort of rocket science, let alone killing someone in lowsec, which this one was about... |

Gizznitt Malikite wrote: Why don't you try to fly a covert ops frigate out to meet your friends? The ability to instantly cloak and warp (or power out of the bubble under the relative safety of a cloak) will really help you traverse through gate camps....
At the same point in time, I HIGHLY recommend you learn about warp bubble mechanics BEFORE you attempt to venture into nullsec.
Frankly, you sound very uneducated in terms of PvP, Warp Bubbles, and general survival....
Flying a shuttle will typically get you through lowsec safely, until you hit a smartbombing Camp. Smartbombing gate camps aren't terribly common in lowsec, but they are there...
Flying a shuttle will typically get you through nullsec safely, until you get bubbled traveling through a gate, or land in a drag/pull bubble. Bubbles are part of 99% of all nullsec gate camps...
bubbles can be circumvented once you know how
(safes off the warp vector into the gate allow you to divert past them).

Kristopher Michael wrote:Thank you to those of you who offered constructive input to enhance my gaming experience here in EVE.
The most constructive input i can give you is to not give up on playing eve IF you like the game. Every new player has a steep learning curve. They must learn the strategy of MINIMIZING losses before they can learn the strategy of pvp (if that is what you want to do).
The good news is, as already been touched upon, that there are tools out there that help you. An example is covert ops frigates, and blockade runners (for traders).
If you want to play eve... just keep learning the mechanics and not give up all the time. If you get a ship loss, dust yourself down and try again. If you remember the number one rule (always fly what you can afford to lose), picking yourself up shouldn't be too difficult (and you learn something from it - hopefully). .................It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight Risin' up to the challenge of our rival And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night And he's watchin' us all with the eye of the tiger............... |
