Hi all
I have searched a bit fruitlessly for a setup for the Minny Broadsword.
Could someone point me in the right direction please or spec a decent build here.
Planning on Lvl 4 missions in this. |

I wouldn't PVE in a Broadword.
Sell your Broadsword, buy and fit a Typhoon for the same money! The worst pvp'er in EVE :

Ok, fair enough, how about a PvP setup? I guess that type of question is the same as "How long is a piece of string" so to be more specific, the role would be as a damage dealer in a small fleet.

You can take a properly tanked Broadsword or Onyx HICs to tank plexes or difficult missions, but without some friendly dps (good BS class dps) PvEing is painfully slow and inefficient. Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game! |

What you have to realise here is that you pick a very specialized role and ask for setups for something completely differet. Haulers are not tacklers, shuttles are not tanks and interdictors are nto damagedealers.
That said, the hics can throw a punch - the most common idea is to passive shield tank it, aid it's locking abilities with some remote sensor boosters and there you go. Still won't make any oodles of damage but perform a very decent role.
if damage is all you want there's not really much to argue about, 425mm's gyros and shield extenders, web and mwd - you're done. Parrots, commence!

If you want to tank plexes for friends, I guess the broadsword can do fine. It could probably do LVL 3s like a breeze, but no way near enough DPS for Lvl 4's.
Here's a standard-fit for plex-tank:
[Broadsword, apa] Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Ballistic Deflection Field II Heat Dissipation Field II
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M Warp Disruption Field Generator I [A bubble, for good measure ]
Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I
Fitting stats: Passive shield tank: 1073 DPS Damage: 172 DPS
With my super-crappy shield-skills it tanks 514 DPS without hardeners on, and 1073 DPS with hardeners on. Hardeners are kinetic, thermal damage, you switch these out depending on the damage type in the mission, you can go with two invulnerability field II's for omnitanking, which should net you about 933 DPS omniresist but these babies suck cap.
With all passive resists you can tank 822 DPS (with my skills again) for kinetic/thermal - this is good to save cap.
In the case of EM/Thermal damage rats for example you will probably tank a lot better, since the broadsword has awesome base resists for EM.
DPS is 172 with decent gunnery skills.
However, for most cases I would use an Onyx which has a lot better base resists to work with (my friend who routinely tanks combat plexes in his Onyx tanks somewhere in the area of 2500 dps on kin/therm rats...)

This is my broadsword setup, however it's used in pvp, and does quite well for itself
5 dual 180mm autocannon II's, infinite point
3 lse II, invuln II, ballistic deflection II, 10mn mwd II
gyro II, 2 pdu II, dcu II
2 core defence field extenders.
17k shields and truley amazing resistances
