Me, it's always windowed mode, as wide as the screen, but slightly smaller on the vertical. Still, I see a lot of people talking about "alt-tabbing out of EVE" and such... so I wondered, how many of you still (for some unknown, obscure reason) play EVE in fullscreen instead of the much more practical windowed mode ? And if you do play fullscreen... why ?

much more practical for reading stuff a watching stuff while travelling, looking up eve-relevant stuffs, fiddling with EFT, etc.

I do play fullscreen when I can dedicate all my time to EvE. When doing anything else in paralel it's windowed.
BTW alt-tabing is the easiest way to switch applications so I bet you are using it a lot even if you are running EvE windowed :-)
My dream is to get it finaly working in Linux so I can just window+scroll the window semi-transparent to see the windows under it. However as an ATI owner, I did not yet manage to get past splash&crash :-( --- SIG --- CSM: your support is needed ! |

The only time I play in fullscreen mode is for PVP/Roaming ops. Old habit from the counterstrike days when every little pixel was crucial in the event your opponent was at your 10 or 2.

Nah, doesn't really count You don't have to alt-tab out of EVE, you just move the mouse out.

Depends on what i'm doing. Anything that takes a length of time but doesn't need contstant monitoring: Windowed
Anything that requires me being on constantly: Fullscreen.
Also, HDR+AA goodness only works in Fullscreen

Full screened 100% of the time. I hate playing games that dont take up the full screen, just feels wrong I'm highly biased about most things, but it has nothing to do with the overall view of my corp or alliance |

You won't find out "how many of us" here; a forum is impractical for this type of question, and in fact only CCP can answer this question by looking at the data they gather from everyone's clients.
I play in full-screen mode, and I have a regular (not widescreen) display. I'm used to it, and I have a single character / no need to alt-tab out of the game.
What's "much more practical" about windowed mode? You'll find part of your answers there.

Single PC, multiple monitors, so windowed for me.
if I could somehow have EVE be fullscreen in one monitor while simultaneously using the other monitor, I'd do that :p

It's called sampling. I suspect the sample will be slightly biased towards non-fullscreen mode users.

Hmmz... wheere do I start ? You can use whatever IM/voice program you prefer OOG while still watching what goes on ingame. Easiest to run multiple clients on the same machine. Nothing that might pop you out of fullscreen mode (minimize EVE in the process) can disturb you. And so on and so forth.

Windowed, since doing fullscreen causes my graphics card to do Bad ThingsÖ.
Even then, I only ever used fullscreen for fleet ops and such.

The most common computer setup out there is a single monitor on a single computer, and I forget what the statistic that CCP released about multiple accounts is... was it "50% of the player base has a single account."? Anyway, the majority of your convenience examples have to do with multiple monitors and multiple accounts, and I think that that is NOT very common.
Thus, the sample might be very biased towards full screen mode users.
Anyway, yes, if I had two monitors or multiple accounts, sure, what you're saying makes sense, but I'm playing EVE very casually, and one character on one screen is sufficient for me.

I dont alt-tab out of eve more than a few times a month, when I play, I play.
I do run in fullscreen, I don't realyl see much of a difference though. Are the any advantages to windowed? (besides quicker alt-tab and hiding the client? Since those don't mean anything to me.)

If you select a windowed resolution exactly as wide as the desktop, you can manually position it so that you have no left nor roight borders, and only a 2 or 3 pixels border on the upper side. That's how I do it, anyway. Like this : Linkage.
