well a lot of the stuff in these patches are code changes, rather than big huge files. There are some new textures but even textures when compressed to a downloadable patch, are not that big. --------------

There's actually quite a few new things in the Shiva patch, even though it's still at an early stage.
In the visible department, the ingame browser have been updated. It now supports advanced tables and a lot of other useful tags, making it much much easier to create cool sites for it. ( table test ) In the GUI department there's better fonts, new buttons, a better scrollbar and some other nice details.
In the non-visible department, they've updated their internal engine to Python version 2.3. I'm not sure if it's this or other optimizations, but the interface just feels better, responds better and so on.
There's a lot of other changes, but rest asured, the Shiva update is going to ROCK :)
Btw, for the people wondering .. you can squeeze a new ship model down to a few hundred kilobytes, considering the patch is zlib compressed. Eg. the apocalypse model + texture is ~500k zlib compressed. (And yes, there IS new models included in the Shiva patch. :) |

TBH its probably not really worth getting excited, major things will probably take forever to come out as already is the case with castor, so whats all this fuss about. ___

Bwaaaaahahahahaaa.
Still, not a bad idea.
But anyways, like he says, it's quest-ish stuff, destroyable structures and similar to current scenarios. And they are coming to an EVE client near you, with undead ninja mice in castles. _____________________________ I say hey sky, s'other say I won say, I pray to J I get the same ol' same ol. |
