I call map glitch. 67,000 players running through Jita within the hour? Doesn't add up. Most people I've seen in one hour in Jita is about 400.

Last time the map showed 5k ships destroyed some guy smart bombed a freighter load of shuttles. I think something similar may have happened here. I really wanna see a video or at least SS of what happened though. Make for epic wallpaper :P

Did someone build a titan in highsec (well started it a long time ago) and it just finished? They decided hell, why not, undocked and DD-ed the **** out of everyone and everything including concord? Concord can't kill ya if they're dead

Slight problem there, not only can Titans not dock, but they can not be built in High-Sec.

That's a reasonable explanation, but are ships destroyed in another ship's cargo bay counted as ships by the map statistics? Repackaged items are just items, even ships.

Turns out you can dump ships into space. Just use freighter to get them there. I do not think that the guys who SB the 5k shuttles where crazy enough to through away a freighter, especially since the video said it was a jump freighter. I will see if I can find that thread with the link to that video again.

There is a thread in the CAOD forum that states a freighter full of shuttles was blown up, but I did not think ships in a cargo hold would count for this? Maybe I am wrong, either way VIDEO and SS PLEASE!

If you agress in empire, you and every ship with your name is flagged, you could agress in a cruiser, undock in a freighter, which would be flagged for agression, when that popped all the shuttles would also be flashing red.

You couldn't carry 67000 in a single freighter. If it was freighters loaded with shuttles you'd need around 30 some freighters.....

There's no way that happened due to player action imo. Either a map/DB glitch or CCP removed a bunch of ships and they show up on the list.

I can tell from that shuttle scan that they were jetisoned and blown up...
Ships that get jetisoned will be named 'S'... And yest freighters CAN do that.
Although it could have been CCP 'removing' stuff... although thats kinda weird when it's not even been downtime yet.

It's a bug. If you eject 50 shuttles from an indy and smart bomb them all you get 1000s of kills registering on the map. Did this once before to try and reroute the default autopilot settings. Didn't work but the enormous red blob visible across the entire universe is quite satisfying.

When a large number of ships are destroyed at once via smartbombs the game basicly forgets how to count. Few years ago HASTE did the same thing over in mannar. had a red blob that covered almost the entire eve map. Then they told CHIMP they set off a DDD. good times.

IMFHO CCP did this, 67k ships destroyed = beginning of a war, there were no player deaths, the number is there because the caldari got attacked by the gallente, and it will be in a news article. If I'm right you all must give me your stuff :)

This was bound to happen, renowned scientists of all empire's have been warning about it. Jita finally because so clogged up, had so much rubbish floating about, ships in space, capsuler's flying around that the combined mass was enough to cause gravity to collapse in on its self turning the Jita sun into a black whole pulling in all the system's mass into its event horizon.
The best part is those pilot's that died who's clones were in the Jita stations died only to awaken into a clone thats in the process of being destroyed at the same time. Due to the time distortion effect's the event horizon this felt to the pilots like and endless loop of dieing waking up and dieing over again.

At first I didn't beleive this when I read it.
But yeah, low and behold, in the past 24 hours...the big bang of Jita!
I am so keeping this screenshot, as to what CCP needs to do to the system for future generations.
In my five years I've never seen it where the red was almost covering the entire known galaxy of EVE. If it's part of the story, great, if it's some glitch on the part of some really frakked up shutle-muncher, well then kudos to them for causing the most excitement I've ever had looking at the map of EVE.

The "Black Rise" in that screenshot is a "Landmark Name". Perhaps you should recognize that there's R55 Colonial Ruins on that screenshot, which is not a region name?
