I don't know. But hey - whatever suits them best. The bottom line is: They're pirating in Derelik and are part of the "Catch 22" alliance that includes "Corp 1" - as well as others. That's what the initial poster of this topic wanted to have confirmed.

The only contact I, personally, have had with anyone outside our corp/alliance in Syndicate is congratulating KIAGarpy on taking out my rifter recently. Gatekeepers policy is no talk in local at all and is vigourously enforced. As you guys never leave your station, I can't really comment on your combat tactics.

We had saw plenty of your guys in Syndicate and always let them pass without attacking, as we're not pirates and had no reason to attack you. Then one day, our CEO goes to a station in a system not marked as "claimed" to buy a ship. When he comes out, he is fired on by LFC ships without warning. He got greeted by smacktalk in local when he tried to explain himself and tell your people that he just wanted to leave in his new ship.
So we did the only thing we could, sent someone in who took out the station campers so our CEO could leave. And we got treated to even more abuse after that.
Can attacking someone in space without reason be considered pirating? Can camping someone in a station who just wanted to leave "your" territory, after finding out it was claimed, be considered pirating? Can resorting to hurling abuse in local when we take steps to defend ourselves against you be considered sad?
I'll not even answer that, I'll just prepare for another flame from you as a reply to our posts.

Ok, I RARELY reply to these forums, since I don't really like the fact that it mostly fuels those flamers out there that have nothing better to do, but I couldn't help myself.
Lot's of bad posts in here now, allthough a few try to keep a level head. I'm just gonna post a quick list of my views of some people mentioned allready:
Catch 22 alliance: Pirates. If any corp in this alliance isn't pirates, I apologize. But, frankly, you can't expect us to know that YOU are different when just about every other guy in the alliance is a pirate (and proud of it). That said, I don't have anything against pirates. It's a choice of game style. Without them I couldn't play my style, the pirate-hunter.
Corp 1: Mostly decent guys. They have, as all corps do, some bad seeds in between, but all in all they are a decent corp that deserves respect. Probably the best coordinated pirate effort I've seen in a while.
DNA: Goes for the same. I don't know them much, but what I do know is that they are good PvP'ers. Respect for that.
GateKeepers: Hardly heard about these guys until they showed up in lower syndicate. No clue to how they are as persons, but they had one "expedition" into my area with a force of cruisers/frigs. Good size on the fleet too. They didn't do much damage, but the main point is that they must have had tons of laughs. And in the end, that's what's important. So, creds for establishing an attack force with (I believe) the sole purpose of having fun. Too few people enjoy the fun in the game these days.
Rona: Havn't had much contact with these guys lately, but they still stand in my book as a group to be reconed with. I've never heard them smack-talking, and they've always acted in a respectfull, decent manenr as far as I know.
Oh and that Euthanasi-something guy is not an alt. I've killed him before, and I will do again. He's a member of Catch 22 alliance, and hence a pirate. ;P

Hey Propehcy - you are soo right about PvP play its fun!
Chris Reed: Of course you got me that time, a single Rifter against your combined JQA plus SE battleships had me a lil bit outgunned there, but just a bit. ;)
I will attack when I meet you next time also, regardless of what ship I happen to use at the time.
As for pirate, well mebbe I am it depends on your outlook of things.
I never killed indiscrimately.
Er well - I do but only when dealing with killers. Like when I recently cleared out PF-346 to keep the spaceways secure together with The Mizz and some other guys. *Waves at Mizz*
So if the freedom fighter label dont suit you, then it have to be "Pirate 'vith' a Purpose" (=PvP) which leads us back to Propehcy's comment again. :)

we are fighing against C22 near y9g / pertineere in the Solitude region. MAFIA have declared war on us and DNA seem to love y9. The pirates are mining the 0.0 but have to refine their crokite in pertineere. Its been skirmishes so far with both sides feeling their way into the conflict, but entertaining nonetheless. Perhaps we should organise some hunting parties? :)

Well facts is (experienced it).
Wich ive seen alot of them in Derelik Region.
Lost Souls, corp1 affiliates.
They mostly attack noobs, smacktalk alot in local, but when reinforcements arrive they run and hide like the cowards they are. Never seen them fight agains experienced ppl only seen attacking defencless noobs that are trying to make some cash.
They should look up some facts about beeing pirates and how to act like ones.
KCFOS, corp1 affiliates also gladly attack noobs mostly and also run away and hides when equally matched or outnumberd.
Think they are crying since castor was installed, no more kestrels with cruise missiles. 
Gatekeepers. well if they are not pirates then im santa claus.
Tho they claim to be a Merc corp. example: well was in 0.0 hunting npc rats, we where 3 cruisers all noobs ofcourse not experienced at all (before castor patch). saw 2 of them in scorps humping the gate and they blew all of us up. no warning nothing just blew us up. result was 1 of us got podkilled and the other 2 lost their ships.

Smacktalk of C1, KCFOC and TLS sounds like "30 Mills for youre ship or eject" so it is NOT called Smacktalk its a ransom...
If someone is running infact of Overnumbering like Carebears usually do in a 3:5 its theyre clever enough not risk ships.
Think about it. And you know Merc were pwnd a lot as i know...
