Mmkay, first - no rigs on a PvP Thorax please. Unless you have money to flush down the toilet. Second, ECM drones are a good idea indeed. There are two lines of thought here: either 2 sets of small ecm drones or 1 set of medium ecm drones. The first option allows you to jam the inconvenient opponent, warp off and still be ready for combat.
Third, you get three major themes in fitting styles here. One of them is to go full gank. That means three magstabs in lows, a damage control and something else for either tanking or cpu/grid. Second theme uses active tank, putting some resists and a medium repairer in lows. I personally do not like this one, since the tank is still crappy, MAR eats the cap needed for mwd. The only benefit I see is that you do not have to dock between fights to repair. The third theme is to use a buffer tank - add some resists and armor plates in lows. You can mix resist modules with magstabs to find some kind of balance.
However, lowsec piracy with Thorax will be limited to catching completely unaware players in belts, as that bird will definitely not tank any sentries.

With some AWU, you can fit some damage rigs. Don't fret, damage rigs only cost 5mil each.

Yeah I think I will go for a fast kill ship. But how well will those do agains pirates in roid fields? Is there a huge diffrence if you have 2 or 3 magstabs with the nerfs you get for mounting more than one type?

Ppl will whine that this is 2006 setup (and this is where i stared flying it :P) but this is toughest solo thorax you can build. With this i pick even 1vsX fights and win them. With proper drone skills you push this baby to resonable dps, you eat AFs for breakfast (best fight 3xD2 af vs this rax and rax held the field) and thanks to v.good tank it deals easly wih cruisers, when comes to caracals, 1vs2 easymode. It will also allow you to kill industrials on gates w/o getting killed by sentries.
So guys before you whine about someones setup, first try it, not only looking into eft And yes, this is solosetup/small gangs, for bigger i got gankrax. ---

You shouldn't be fitting a mar on a 1600 fit anyway, and instead of the 3 hardeners, I'd suggest going with 2 eanm 1 dc for your fit

Then go and fly your vexor, in thorax this mar is pretty much crucial :] ---

That's probably because it takes so long to kill stuff, you have enough time to rep to make the MAR worth fitting.

This is a VERY good setup, but rigs are 2.5max if you build them yourself :)
The 1600mm light neutron can work, the thing that makes it good is that it has OK dps while having so much cap (base cap + mwd bonus = 1700 cap). The big buffer allows you to rep ALOT in a fight, in some fights up to 2500.
Anyway 1600mm vexor is good in some situation, 1600mm thorax is good in others, but I'd prefer medium blaster rax, the 1600mm rax is GODLIKE for people without t2 meds tho :)

384 dps with 2x dmg rigs (I know you rig your ruptures too!), good buffer and repper, I still prefer the medium one tho :)

Yeah that works good until you come up against someone with ECM drones. Then you will just watch them chipping your armor away, while you can do nothing (only the hammerheads, but still they can die too). ------- Nobody can be exactly like me. Even I have trouble doing it. |

Every setup can be countered, ecm drones don't hit always and this is time when you can kill them so this is where playing skill kicks in. ---
