I thought most mechs were ground forces... wouldn't these be more like Gundams?

I dunno, a prometheus attack would be a BIT hard to pull off in Eve.

I would implement mechs as a way to fight in stations, satisfacing the pple who want to fight and introducing money and bets in that game.

This is gonna sound really bad on my part but...
I once had a dream where I was in a crow with 5 fighters flying across a planets surface and came across a "Turret Platform Mech". I fought it with the fighters as it was too slow to track me. As the fighters wailed on it a "Missile Platform Mech" could be seen in the distance running at full speed to help its friend. The Turret Mech turned it's focus from me and focused on one of the fighters instead, but right before the fighter died the Turret Mech blew up. At this time the Missile Mech launched a missile at the crow as it began to fly off at top speed, but the missile was gaining on him. The damaged fighter moved between the missile and the crow and sacrificed its life so the crow could get away. The dream ended looking back at the Missile Mech standing next to the Turret Mech that was still exploding a little from the ammo it was carrying.
I actually drew the scene on a notepad that morning when I got up cause it was really cool :P

I thought that was the "Daedalus Maneuver"... but... oh, no way. The last thing we need is a fleet of Nyx motherships equipped to do that to every outpost in existence.

Mechs are ground units. They are mechs because they have legs :) Stuff in space does not need legs as there is nothing to walk on. It needs maneuvering engines. That makes spaceships and drones. Mechs tanks and infantry would be cool in in-station warfare :)

there's pleanty of mecha worthy of space travel. Here's a short list of anime series with mecha in space: Macross, Macross Plus, Macross DYRL, Macross 7, Gundam, Gunbuster, Martian Successor Nadesco, just to name a few. I just think having drones that shoot could turn into something more versatile and open up new opportunities ingame.

hell i'd do that. but it would sort of lack the action without twitch based controls. But if they add twitch controls to eve i'm afraid it might somehow ruin the game i like so much. i dunno.

sorry but mechs are stupid
Why complicate mobility with leg-things, when you can simply drive?
They do look cool, because they resemble giant metallic men with guns, but the visual representation is SO worn by now dont you guys think?
Also, I am sure two legged machines are copyrighted somehow and putting four legs on it will just invite a horde of Lucas' lawyers.
Pehaps six legs can re-invent the mech-scene, but then again, the japanese animated shows will have done everything from no legs, to a thousand I am sure.
Hover tanks, trackes, wheeled, or walkers? I'd prefer wave after wave of men thrown carelesly into conflict. Agony, blood and guts should define any planetary warfare that CCP might have to offer.

i can see why mechs would be "stupid" in an eve universe since it really doesn't fit, but i think drones are just plain boring. i think drones should go into a dogfight mode when crossing paths at least.
