ITT: Americans who still can't comprehend their empire is going down just like the colonial empires did in the 20th century.
meh no civilization/empire can last forever it was bound to happen
No not yet, if we dont get a good president/congress in the next 50-100 years then yes, but we're not quite there yet.
America is still quite powerful, so the ride down will take a long time.

Originally by: Ilvan I think Canada should join the EU.
To be honest if they applied I cant see a damned good reason to refuse , might be something Britain AND France agree on
I'm Canadian, and I'd support it.
1. It would **** the US off 2. Canada is a good go-between for Europe and the US... because we're a little of both.
Wouldnt phase me one bit, it would give us more competition which means we will go to the stars faster then we currently are and will have a large technology boost.
It might even help us on a political level.
Oh and I am from the US.

its the same argument everytime from them, and its always grossly inaccurate.
Ah fair enough I suppose, the fact remains that France was more powerful than the rebels and that IF we wanted the US anyway we would have annexed it in the war of 1812.... where we BURNED THE WHITE HOUSE DOWN!
Thats just dandy, oh and who came out ahead after it all?
Neither side gained or lost territory so another words...
It was a draw.

No no, my point is that the Brits had bigger fish to fry than annexation of the USA, hence it took second place to the much more serious war with France.
Its not who won or who lost, my point here is that the French war took precedence to the British over the American rebbelion/annexation.
I agree...I mean its not often that a country gains independence against an extremely strong country by themselves.
Its like the celtics trying to gain their independence...It worked for a while until rome actually began to care.
But I think the point was we were actually able to take on britain and win against a section of their navy, even if it was only a few ships...We still stood up to britain and won.
