Facts- -Inventing ships with a 1 run BPC and a +9 run Decryptor gives you a 9 Run BPC.
Assumptions (as I've not actually used +0 Run Decryptors)- -Inventing ships with a 1 run BPC and a +0 run Decryptor gives you a 1 Run BPC.
Shouldn't it be (1 + Decryptor modifier) resulting in 10 runs for a +9 Run Decryptor? Or am I just not paying attention to something?

In order to get 10 Runs for the +9 Decriptor, your Ship BPC needs to be max runs to beging with.

I understand that, but following the logic that "Run Modifier = End Runs" means that using a +0 Run Modifying Decryptor results in a BPC with 0 runs.
I don't understand why the +9 Run Decryptor is only give +8 over the initial 1 Run.

Thats not how runs are calculated actually.
There is the exact formula here abouts, but the gist of it is that at 1 Run BPC w/ a +0 Decriptor you get a T2 result of 0.3 Runs or somesuch, but the game can't give you that and it can't give you a 0 Run T2 BPS so the formula rounds it up to 1.
With a +9 decriptor the result is 9.3 which gets rounded down to 9. With the full run BPC you get 0.7 or 0.9 and then w/ +9 Decritor you get 9.7 or 9.7 that gets rounded up to 10.
I'm not 100% on the 0.* Values but that how it works, at least that how it works for ships.

Thanks, that answers my question, but unfortunately doesn't solve my problem. I'm trying to write a formula identifying the cost per Run to invent a BPC.
So where (Total cost to invent BPC)/(1 + x) where x = Decryptor Run Modifier works for the +0 Decryptor, it doesn't work for the +9 Decrytpor. Hrm, guess I'll need to tweak some formulas somewhere. |

It's max[1, {round_down(max_runs_on_T2_BPC*runs_on_T1_BPC/max_runs_on_T1_BPC) + decryptor bonus} ] or somesuch
