OK. I need to know how best to get corp standing with level 2 missions - I need standing in order to use decent R&D agents.
My idea was a passive-tanked Caracal with assault launchers, hardeners and missiles to suit the rats. (I don't want to do courier missions - I'd die of boredom!) No salvaging and loot only if convenient. Can I do any better?

If you happen to have the gunnery skills the Ferox is nice for this. Warp in and speed kill everything in level IIs.

Most of the L2 grind time will be travel to/from mission. I suggest a stealth bomber.
If not, I've had great luck with:
Myrm 6x beam laser 2x sensor booster, 10mn AB, large shield booster 3x heatsink
bucket of warrior IIs

snipe assault frig
I would use a harpy just because thats the one I can use
caracal with a tp might be better, although a bit slower, less agile, but with a sensor booster should be able to hit at 100km, although takes a while for the missiles to get there

Passive tanked caracal with light assault launchers is one of the best options for what you describe. Altho if you have isk to throw around then seminano fitted navy caracal or cerberus (latter one is somewhat faster in mission bcos of RoF bonus) might offer you even slightly faster combat phase of missions. Don't forget afterburner for those missions where you need to travel a bit and in case of cerberus tractor in utility slot for mission critical loot.
Cerberus is suitable also for lev 3 mission speedrunning, should your corp offer those also.

If you can, try and find a station which has several L2 agents in it. And try to find one where the nearest storyline agent is for the same corp - storylines give you pretty huge corp standings boosts.

The station I've chosen happens to have two level 2 agents of very similar quality. Can I assume that you are suggesting such a station in order to get rid of difficult or annoying missions?
I have done something like 6 L2 missions in an hour and a half - could have been less, but I don't seem to be able to get rid of my looting habit.
Related question; once I've ground enough, do level 3 missions in a BC get the standings increase job done faster? I was thinking of a similar setup - passive Drake, this time with heavy missiles. For this job, gross overkill is a bonus.
To the guy that suggested a Cerberus - nice idea, but I don't have caldari cruiser V. Would an Ishtar or Astarte (yes, I know, it's a hell of a lot of money for a level 2 or even 3 ship) get the job done as well? ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."

I do not have personal experience running lev 3's with ishtar, but I would assume that it should be slightly faster most likely than Drake, bcos of slightly greater top speed and agility. Drake works also quite nice, but if you are 'speedrunning' then on lev 3 missions travel times do contribute a good portion of your time per hour spent running missions.
In seminano fitted cerberus I was able to run approx 8..10 lev 3 missions per hour (no looting ofc). I would estimate something like approx 12 .. 15 lev 2 missions with similar setup with most of the time spent warping to and from those missions.

Edited by: Sila Mas on 09/06/2008 12:14:43 Actively tanked Caracal with 5 assault launchers, 2 LSE II, 1 AB, 2 active hardeners and a bunch of BCU's. Resistance rigs are cheap if you want to make it even easier. And bring 2 drones. -- .signature not found. Core dumped. |

Personaly i would use that caracal for lv3 missions instead, since i get faster standing from lv3 then from lv2.
either do them with the caracal or a drake.
But i think the caracal could be bad choice for lv2 couse some missions doesnt allow bigger ships then frigs.
Still i would say do lv3 missions instead mate.

I am doing this to set up my alt as a mission runner character. Currently I am speed running Lvl 2s in order to get onto a Drake in Lvl 3+ ASAP. I am currently running a passive tanked Caracal in Minmatar space with:
3 x Assault Launchers (Kinetic) 2 x HML (Kinetic)
2 x Medium Shield Extenders 1 x Medium Shield Booster 2 x Passive Hardeners (Expl. and Kin.)
1 x BCU 1 x PDS (the module that gives small bonusses to grid, shield, recharge etc)
With my skills I am finding this to be a bit of a walkover and find the ship to be well overtanked for the missions I have run so far. I have done some of the big missions and the only one that came close to breaking me was Stop the Thief, when I was aggroed by the whole room full of Mercenaries flying missile boats.
I started an Engineer alt and got good Engineering/Shield skills and have ploughed skills into missiles. I can lock targets out to about 65km, the Heavy Missiles have a range up to about 75km and the Standard Missiles fly out to about 47km, so hardly anything gets close enough to do anything to me.
The biggest tip I can give to get through the missions quickly is plough skill points into Social and Connections. Social will increase the amount of faction increase you get from each mission, while Connections will instantly bump your standing up by 4% per level.

Partly that, but mainly because it's quicker to do two missions in a row and turn them both in at once. L2 missions in a half-decent ship are so ridiculously easy that you spend more time warping around and docking/undocking than you actually do killing stuff. A lot of the time I'd even get given two missions in the same system, which I could clear out in not that much longer than doing just one. There happened to be a storyline agent for the same corp in that station as well, which made for some very nice corp standing increases.
Also, IMO it's not worth looting L2 missions, unless you get something like an Angel mission which has unusually good loot/salvage, or one of the missions (like Silence The Informant) where you get structures that sometimes drop good stuff. Boring as it may sound, it's more efficient to just rush missions continually and clean up on rewards, bounties, and the occasional thing you bother looting.

Edited by: Ghoul Ahn''Khor on 09/06/2008 19:02:39 Edited by: Ghoul Ahn''Khor on 09/06/2008 19:00:01 Because of my standings in Amarrian space I also need to boost my sec stat, this is why I'm doing level 2's in a Drake (I figure why spend the isk for a Caracal and mods when I'll be getting a Drake anyway). I have only one heavy missle launcher on the Drake (for bunkers, habitats, hives etc.) and the other highs filled with tractors and slavagers. When I enter a room, I aggro most everything, wait for them to be with in the 19m radius and use my drones to blow em up and at the same time loot and salvage. Doing all this multitasking takes away the boredom, speeds up the mission process and I don't lose any loot or salvage. Besides it's a great way to train to mission run L3/4 missions, loot and salvage at the same time.
Make sure your drone skills are good however
