After several months of having these wonderful things called scripts, I have been wondering what the general opinion is of them now.
An overview ....
Damps - Have been nerfed to hell and back making a complete race of Recon Ships obsolete. Tracking Disruptors - Does anyone actually use them anymore?
Sensor Boosters - Probably only used for long range targeting boosting in 0.0 but a 20 second lock time on a frig sux
Tracking Computers - Hit long range but cannot hit anything small or going fast.
Anyways I personally believe that scripts are terriful and need to be removed and everything go back to the way it was, but it is only one opinion. What say the masses?

i like scripts personally and they can be very effective eg. infini point hic script
damps I agree have been nerfed too much, mind you they were overpowered before.
sensor boosters are still used widely by tacklers and snipers
tracking disruptors are very useful, watch with glee as your enemies try to hit you
and i love tracking computors, even without scripts they are amazing imo, allow for better tracking and/or range without sacrificing any of my tank

Thats exactly WHY they introduced scripts, so you couldn't get the best of both worlds. You want to target and shoot at long ranges? Great, but you're not going to target anything fast or shoot anything close.
You have to choose to be good at one or the other, or mediocre at both. Its called balance.

I think that tracking computer scripts need a 25% boost in both range and tracking but that's only because of the ranges that fleetfights are taking place nowadays.
Other than that, we need moar scripts! Like a + to web range with an "equal" penalty to speed decrease that would get let's say a 90%web to 45% speed decrease but a 20km range before overload Boink! |

na that'd be crap, webs are imo perfectly balanced, if you want more range buy a faction web or overload.

Personally I rather like that idea.

It's time for faction and officer scripts with better bonuses.

To add to that, faction/officer damps, tracking disruptors and painters are still missing. Boink! |

I think in principle they aren't a bad idea, but in practice its just another thing to change in fleet fights where mods won't activate for 5 minutes. In circumstances like these, scripts become worse than useless.
Just remove the scripts and have a toggle on the mod itself OR how about fixing the ammo loading issues in heavy lag conditions? - just a thought.

This. If they must have the different modes, so be it then, but they should really be switchable built-in modes of the device; the script stuff is nonsense and annoying.

How are these long range fleet fights you speak of take place when it is according to you impossible without your suggested 25% boost to TCs?

What are you smoking? The range script does not increase your lock time. It merely removes the sensor resolution bonus from the sensor booster. It doesn't penalize the sensor resolution of the base ship. If it takes you 20 seconds to lock anything in a frig, you really need to remove a WCS or two.

I never said the long range script increased the locking time. Also how long does it take your Battleship to lock an interceptor by chance? Mine takes a while.

Are you kidding? TDs are insanely good. Notice that all the other scripted modules got nerfed to only affect one attribute but TDs got boosted so they can affect two attributes. TDs were dumb because they didn't affect autocannons, now they do - now TDs are awesome.
