Deus Ex is still one of my favourite games. The second one is not really worth it - since buying it, I have had 3 computers which refused to run it so I thought it would be a spectacular game to play, at least graphics-wise. Pro tip: it's not. The story and game play are strictly average too. __________________________

There's a guy on the DE forums who posted a long walkthrough of him beating the game without carrying anything in inventory. He never used a weapon, and the only time he killed someone was in the missile complex where you have to kill the guy trying to launch the missile - he jumped down on him and killed him.

I loved this game (the sequel "Deus Ex: Invisible War" was terrible though. The only thing I found with this game is that it was far too easy once you've figured out the best augs that fit your playing style.. Personally, I feel this game would probably have a better feel to it (in terms for me) if the augs worked the way they do in multi-player.

when you do try and use as little ammo as possible...if you can hit them untill they die in anyway do it as the ammo starts to you know...not lay around everywhere after about half the game...so its a good idea to save as much as possible Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". |

It might be a bit of a bear getting it to work properly on a modern computer. I know I used to have a problem with it running twice as fast as normal because I have a dual core CPU. It somehow fixed itself, but I don't know how... __________________________

I never played the first one, but I got the 2nd for my xbox a while back was a fairly decent game. Too short, at the end I definitly wanted more, and sort of too easy depending on which bio-mods you chose. (lol thermal masking and invisibility.)
I'll try out the first in a bit, but as for the 3rd can't say I will edios has a long way to go to make up for the abomination and colossal drama of kane and lynch.

Ah, the bliss of not having to compare a game to it's predecessor. Alas, I played DX1 THEN DX2 so I found DX2 horrible.
By the way, the graphics in DX1 are horrible, but don't let that put you off. There's a HDTP (High-definition texture package) project going on for Deus Ex that will be able to replace the textures for every object in the game for higher definition ones. They're apparently nearly finished too. I wouldn't be surprised if they released it within a month. __________________________

I still play a lot of games with lol bad graphics (daggerfall / FF7/8), it doesn't bother me so much. I'm gonna guess with the mod I'll have to "obtain" a real copy.

awesome game, never managed to bring myself to pick the ending that doesnt involve plunging the world back into city states though, the other options just never appealed to my morals ~:)
Still probably the best FPS I've played, I do find myself comparing all otehr games to it, I mean the half life games are good, but the freedom and replayability on DE is ahrd to beat, the great this is you find new stuff every time you replay it (4 times all the way through for me)

My game is bugged I think. I'm at Hell's kitchen revisited but it seems that Paul hasn't respawned to talk to him so the MiB can attack. The MiB are just outside his empty room and are invincible. I haven't got any recent saves before that either!
I think the problem lies with the fact that Paul didn't contact me after sending the distress signal after aligning the satellites. :( Grr

I'm at where Evil said his game was bugged, Mines not bugged, but they mj12 guys are annoying to kill with my super pistoleer-hacker, I like jumped off the balcony and died a horrible death.
I also see that the 2nd has nice graphics and a pretty much exact same storyline, but yes it's not as good. |

I replayed this late last year after not picking it up for years. Although it hasn't aged well graphically, the gameplay and story are still absolutely brilliant. I think that even allowing for it's age, it (along with Baldur's Gate II) are still among the greatest games ever made. DE: Invisible War was better graphically, but the story and our supposed *choices* felt very forced and lacking. It had exciting moments but was quite forgettable.
If I were rich enough, or a company were willing I'd love to see Deus Ex re-made with updated gfx, environmental audio and physics. While they're at it, maybe they could redo "Outcast" as well. -------------

I have a lot of fun with that scene. Before I talk to Paul, which triggers the invasion of the MiB, I walk to the door and plant several LAMs and gas grenades on the walls. Then I either hide behind the couch or in Paul's secret closet. If I hide behind the couch, I get my sniper rifle or GEP gun ready, and as the grenades/LAMs start going off I start pew pewing. Chaos! LOLZ!
I do a similar thing when I'm on the plane - before I talk to Lebedev, I set a LAM on the wall right where Anna Navarre will appear. She usually blows up...LOLZ! |

Yeah, I chose the computer ending first time. The Illuminati ending just replaces the dictator. Sure, he might be benevolent, but what about his successor? The "destroy the internet" ending never really appealed either. It would cause a lot of suffering in the short term, and eventually some bastard will rise to the top and seize power just like Bob Page did. At least merging with the computer ensures a benevolent ruler without worrying about successors, since the computer will last for as long as there are people to maintain it.
I've thought about this waaaaay too much. |

Yeah, there was that keypad that gave you I think 500 SP every time you typed in the correct code. It got a bit tedious though, and I never stuck at it long enough to get master skill level in every field. __________________________

Theres a COOP mode for it now, i **** you not. its even more awesome with a buddy or two (or even three, but not more ).
there are some bugs, that are mostly cured by saving and reloading instantly, (well, after you managed to get it to run, which takes some research) and towards the end theres a logic bug with a "bridge riddle". you can work around that bug, which makes the game crash real hard, by just making the host solve it and proceed to the next checkpoint (which is just a minute from there). after the checkpoint the other players will have passed the bugridden riddle , because they get warped to the same spot, after a doorswitch is used.
i go astray, but ss2, coop... do it. be aware the player models look ULTRA crap, but the rest of the game doesnt, if you use the hires textures pack(yes ss2 has that too) |

I never played this for some reason... Is it still worth checking out or will the dated graphics take away from the experience now.

I'm up to my 2nd visit to versilife now. So I went back and now I'm running 2 games at the same time, the one guns blazing FPS style and the other stealth action style. I just like couldn't wait and replay the whole thing
Playing this game is great until you realize you've been sitting at your computer for 3 hours and you forgot to keep skills queued on you eve char. |

ok i just got DX 2...
...it sucks! the same ammo for all guns might be good in theory but the only reason to change gun is when you run out of ammo! the inventory you can but like 7 things in and you need to make due with 6 implants.
the only thing i like with the game is botdomination....that is fun Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". |

Is is supposed to be pronounced Day-us.
Although saying "Deus Ex" does sound a little bit like "Day Of Sex". __________________________
