I went to the beach today, with some friends. On the way, we purchased some sausages and rolls, and one of those one-shot barbecues.
And we had a great time. Barbecues are great.
Though why do men always feel like they need to take charge of the fire, when they never do as much as turn the grill on at home?
Is it some kind of "fire=good" cave-man instinct thing?

I suspect the male attraction to bbq is that it's ********ly easy and is an excuse to eat nothing but meat and maybe a spoonful of potato salad.

The way I've understood it is traditionally, the man rules the outdoors, while the woman rules the indoors, and that includes the food.
That being said though, I for one have no objection to a woman grilling for me...

I've heard that men are better chefs, while women are better cooks. That is, a woman is more capable of making things again and again - cakes won't collapse and so on, while men if they put their mind to it, are more creative at combining things to see what they taste like.
So woman's cooking = always edible, but not very varied while men's cooking = sometimes very good, sometimes inedible, but rarely the same as last week.

Edited by: ReaperOfSly on 09/06/2008 22:11:46 I always burn everything if I'm let near a BBQ. I'm always paranoid about under-cooking the meat, so I always end up over-cooking it instead. The meat is usually about half it's original size after you scrape off the charcoal when I'm finished with it.
