I just wanted to suggest that cloaking is fine and please don't change it in any way.
Cloaking is the only thing that allows a mainly solo player like myself to survive in Nullsec. People who have a problem with cloaked ships need to:
a) Grow some balls b) Learn to keep a constant eye on their Directional Scanner.
Please ignore all cloaking whingers.
That is my idea and suggestion. Highjacking every thread possible in the campaign to END THE CLICK FEST and RUBBISH NAVIGATION in EvE. |

That is my idea and suggestion. Yeah, about that.
Local giving me up over and over, and sending all the people I would hunt to safe spots, kinda makes cloaking broken.
Needing to AFK cloak, on the hope someone will grow to ignore your presence, feels like a messed up way to play.
And what good is a directional scanner against a cloaked ship again? We can't be found, despite the fact that local is telling the world we are in system. It might help against non cloaked types, but that should not be relevant here.
I would rather give them an outside chance to hunt me, despite the fact that any non AFK pilot could avoid them consistently. In exchange, get my name out of local when I am cloaked.
Cloaking is supposed to be a game of hide and seek, cat and mouse, hunter and prey. Not, "Hey, I may never be able to find you, but I know you are there!" |

Directional scanner reveals the probes that a cloaker might be using to find your anomaly/signature/mission.
Everything else in this post: +10
Get rid of local, give fleets a new mod/probe/skill whatever to allow a chance of locating AFK cloakers
(like someone said, any non-afk would be uncatchable unless they mess up)
Change nothing else.

No one is suggesitng you have to do it if you don't want to. That's why we call it a sandbox.

So, you want a game where they don't know you're there and will never find you. How is that more cat and mouse? Highjacking every thread possible in the campaign to END THE CLICK FEST and RUBBISH NAVIGATION in EvE. |

Let's try again.
AFK Cloaking: If you think this existing dynamic is what was intended from the beginning, then I feel you assume too much.
The simple idea I suggested won't cause attentive players in cloaked ships to be caught easily. People may make mistakes, or those hunting may plan tactics exceedingly well, but short of that, noone is getting caught. What is more probable, is that one probing ship will be chasing another cloaking ship. Unless it isn't a covops, it will likely warp as soon as it sees probes near, or just bug out of the system.
This chasing, with neither side gaining the advantage with any probability, is the cat and mouse element. |

You are suggesting that cloaking remove people from local. If no one eve knows you are in the system, it's pretty unlikely they will be trying to track you down. The facts are that Incursions have made it easy to make Deep safe spots that are very difficult to probe out, and the fact that there's no way of telling if someone has cloaked or just left the system.
Cloaking isn't just about not getting caught, it is an information gathering tool, and also part of the psychological warfare. What you are suggesting will not result in any worthwhile change, and most likely will make the cloak whingers whinge even more.
