It has been brought to my attention, with great regret, that a member of a corporation of the CFS Alliance has past away in RL. Their is a GM-run memorial service that is going to take place on Saturday. Her husband now runs the account and will be attending. This is an OOC event so anyone that is an IC enemy is invited to attend as well. Oceanna loved eve and her husband welcomes anyone who knew her in game.
The event, from what I've been told, will start on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 21:00 Eve-time. The plan for the event is as follows:
At 21.00 GMT we meet up in Torrinos
At 22.00 GMT the memorial takes place in EC-P8R
I am here requesting from all of our enemies of the CFS Alliance to contact me about a 1 day NAP so the CFS Alliance can attend.
It is always sad to lose a loved one and I offer my full condolences to Oceanna of Peacekeepers Inc. May she rest in peace.

Indeed, condolences. It will be interesting to see if people can put the game aside, and show some emotion to a death in our little community. I sincerely hope that some ******* isn't going to take something like this to gank someone. That would be just way over the line.

in ww2online they have statues in a city i think and there you can see names of player that have passed away in RL, maebe they should do something similar in eve. And then they put a marker on the map and you can go there and they have like a giant statue whit the names of people that have passed away. |

One very honorable thing another gaming company did was to put the names of the fallen on plaque that was on a monument in the middle of every town in World War II online.
I am wondering if a similar honor could be done within this game.

yeah a star would be cool, if it was like 1 special system whit like renamed stars and when you warp to 1 of the stars you see like a statue whit the ingame character pic and some text, that would be a nice thing i would think. |

Im usually the crazy guy that can never stop talking; but for once I am lost for words. Playing in game is no substitute for knowing the person in real life but it gives you an insight to their personality and menality. I heartily agree with the establishment of a persistant monument to our lost loved ones within the Eve Universe. I will be there for the memorial service and I HIGHLY support the effort to name a star, system or planet in her honor. In these cases I prefer to either show respect or stay out of it. Do you really want to risk the fact that you can hurt someone who allready lost so much recently?
It is indeed out of game, and there is a difference between really losing someone or having a ship blown up.
It is no laughing matter.
We are working on a OOC forum and sad events like this may happen, and as a close working community who all share at least 1 hobby namely EVE, it can be expected to have these threads.
So, I ask you all to either reply respectfully or discuss this in private somewhere else.

It is the saddest thing I experienced in Eve, and I hate myself for missing to go hunting rats with Oceanna (Vicky). She always got this very nice sense of humor.

Death always has a way of putting "in game" things into perspective. Don't really know what else to say tbh.
It would be nice if ccp publish the system name via the in game news, and also ban anyone from the game that purpously disrupts them.
Anyone who can't put aside in game problems for a few hours really doesn't deserve to be a part of this community.
I like the star naming idea as well :)

Once again my sincerest condolances to those left behind.
Although I did not know the person who played Oceanna and didn't have any dealings with her character in game, I would like to attend the memorial service to pay my respests to her.
I would like to know is will CCP have a channel set up so that players can request to have their characters moved to Torrinos during the hour preceding the service, similar to what is done on the chaos server ? And then, after the service being moved back to the system the character was in before ?
If this is not possible, would you either please include Torrinos in all players clone stations list so that we may clone jump to that system, or inform us which of the stations in the current list is closest to that system.
I would also like to add, that I am in total agreement with the idea posted that the system EC-P8R be renamed to Oceanna in memorial to a fellow EVE player.
I wanted to ask this question about the logistics on a seperate thread but was told by Wrangler to post this question here.

I would like to say, as a friend of Vicky and her husband, that this is truly overwhelming. Only for myself, I thank you for all the kind comments you have made on these pages. There is not much more than that I can say- other than I think Vicky would be overwhelmed at this too.

The memorial last night was a very good example of how the EVE community is as people from all places and corps joined to take farewell of Oceanna.
