If you want to go for cruise raven then you should, its easy to fit, requires no flying between targets (I wonder how much time this saves) only negative is the low damage (sub 400 dps) if you want to be able to perma run or near permarun your shield booster (about 500-600 defence). Also you get the bonus of 2 extra slots for a tractor and a salvager so u can lazily get some wrecks as you kill the rats.
If you get a guy in a drake to take the tank however, raven + afterburner + choice of damage types and no need for a web makes killing battleships a doddle at around 800 or so dps of hit everytime damage. |

so i guess the best answer to this is to switch ships for different races??? (forget raven, fail to gank and tank missions)
my question is what about drone missions? or mercernary? |

I enjoy my setup.
AC's.. nice and close damage in a Mach. Now it doesn't do supper high DPS with my skills its 669DPS, but as well I've fitted an AB on my ship which I can cruise at 666m/s if I please to in missions which not only speeds up for those gaps that are caused in spawn locations or gate locations, but as well helps with tanking ability, considerably in the AE Bonus stage where warp out is not needed.
Sure slap on some artilery and get range but its fighting styles now.
IMO for missioning you want first tankability, then damage ability, then speed. All are key in one way or another but of course staying alive is definatly key.

Well, my history is the following:
I first took a raven. Was an easy ship to get in skillwise and could do a decent job on lvl4s. After some time, I had a full t2 tank, I could not be bothered to get t2 launchers, or even arbalests. Was to make isk for my pvp losses. My take on it, even close to max skills the tank is sub par, you still have to warp out in 30% of the lvl4s and that pretty much trashes your isk/hr performance.
After some time I got a nice t2 fitted permarunning dual LAR II abbadon. Excellent tank, I could hang in there under immense punishment, used the tachs against battleships, hammerhead II against cruisers frigates. I had to warp out only in AE bonus room.
Then I got a palladin. I also fitted a permarunning t2/amarr tank. Now, it burns through missions like no tomorrow, and with the bonused tractors I get the wrecks clumped in one place ready for the salvager. I dont think it gets better than this. Never had to warp away, not even in the faction lvl4 missions. Of course I am limited to EM and Therm damage but the bonused tachs with mf crystals are so overwhelming in DPS, I never felt the need for more. I barely keep up with the tractors for the wrecks.
Thats my 2c. "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam." I'll find a way or make one. |

I've had good luck with my Maelstrom fitted with 1400 Arties (best named). For close-orbiting cruisers I have an afterburner and a webber drone. Turn on afterburner + web rat + move away from rat = transversal of 0. Although to be honest I rarely need the drone.
My Fit
Highs: 8x 1400 Arties (best named) Mids: Afterburner (best named for fitting reasons); XL SB II; 3 Rat Specific Hardener IIs; Cap Injector (best named w/ 800s) Lows: 2x Gyro II; 2x PDU II; 1 I-Stab II Rigs: 3 CCC I Drones: 5 Med II; 5 Light II: 1 Web
The I-Stab was on a whim as I had a lowslot open but no CPU/Grid left. But since I am using ship-alignment to bring transversal down to zero I think it is helping. My arties almost never miss as long as I keep range about 30k+, which is easy to do with the afterburner.

Against a target with 0 transversal? Yes, of course.
There is no range penalty to hit for being inside your optimal range, only for being outside of it. Within your optimal, the only things affecting your chance to hit are tracking and signature resolution v. signature radius. __________________________________

The few times i do lvl4 missions i use a torpgolem.
I dont use an expensive setup , 3x CN BCU which gives me 2012hp damage on structure with a 7,14sec rof.
Which results in 1127dps without drones calculated into it.
With my setup , torps have 30km range and ship goess 600m/sec.
I can easely tank all missions. Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Hango ([email protected]) |

So far the best way to run missions is having a nightmare & a mach . No carebearing missions can resist them
Ofc the torp/ab golem is also a good ship .

You canŠt just say that "this ship is better than that", it simply comes down to which faction you are doing missions for, and how much isk you spend on your ship.
Like saying a Mega will outtank/damage a Rokh on missions within 60km is somehow fail. If you are doing missions against Angels, you donŠt use railguns, you use blasters, and a Rokh with blasters is win. Null ammo = 16km optimal, 14km falloff (with my crappy gunnery skills), which is more than enough.
But imho, the Golem is the king of missions. 550 dps @ around 50km, around 800 dps @ 25km, 40km tractorbeams(!), 4mins capstable with XL booster (when using T2 ammo), and lower ammo requirements is just pure win. I donŠt even use an alt anymore when running missions, i just tractor wrecks to my ship and loot, then when mission is done, i dock and change ship to a destroyer with 8 salvagers and 3 salvage rigs.

The best and fastest mission ship is still the CNR - or raven navy issue - or what you want to call it.
Why? Cause it takes ANY mission with only "change hardeners, reload to x" with regular torpedos and plain old 5 hammerhead IIs. It's versatile in this way. Also it tends to kill targets at all targetable ranges in equal timesteps, wich makes estimating what you need to kill first to keep the tank ok easy.
CNR Mission running: * screw frigates, the drones will handle them, once drone-aggro is no problem. * battlecruisers first - they do okish npc dps but die VERY fast. * pick your next targets depending on range, dps, damagetype (i.e. merc commanders) * know your mission: spawn triggers, aggro triggers, dmg types ...
But what makes the cruise-cnr really shine is: good tank, good dps, all ranges, all damage types. One ship fits all.
The cruise CNR has one distinct disadvantage to the torp one: it tends to kill alot of npcs outside a 40km radius. Killing everything within the 40km makes salvaging in a maraudeur afterwards a breeze.

shes on the right track actually, defenders cut alot of dps from missile, therefore turrets will always have higher dps which is also instantaneous.
The FASTEST ships out there will probably be marauder's. The Golem is certainly a contender for the "fastest" trophy in general but i'm willing to bet the Paladin can edge it out against sansha/blood raiders.

I would have to say the golem. i was runing t2 torps a t2 lrg booster with 2 amps, t2 recharge, 2 t2 hardeners, and a painter, for lows 2 bcu and 2 flux coils and its cap stable. running faction booster now so can run 3 bcu but that if you have the isk but since you working toward a BS im guessing you are no where near getting into a marader so i would go with a raven. good tank and and set up for any NPC faction you are facing. but depends on your skills what will work for you.

Wrong. Nightmar eoutperforms the CNR in almost any engagement. The only close exception is fighitng Angels, and if you web them when they get close, a Nightmare still kills it on par with a CNR. Take a look how how quick a NM tears through Mercs / Sanshas / Blood / Drones / Guristas even. it obliterates a CNR in mission speeds.
This isnt EFT whoring either, this is with a max damage skilled CNR pilot vs a non max damage skilled nightmare, with NM still winning. Wreckings for 3-4k vs Guristas is hot.

As I said: One ship fits all. There is no exception in the CNR. Range is what you can target.
Ofcourse some mission go faster in something else. Heck, a Neutron-Mega beats the cruise Raven in Damsel 4. BUT you only need one ship, one fitting, to do the missions. You CAN - for the isk a nightmare costs easy - even get a sufficient omni tank on it, but thats... really just 2 hardeners to switch.
On many a mission the Nightmare or Paladin would be the TOP-Notch. Now you have a gunboat, and a mission with drone aggro, and a bunch of small ships getting <10km. Have fun with guns. It does work, most of the time, if you have a paladin or nightmare, you also have the tank to just sit it out. *shrugs*
But the ONE ship that does all missions is the CNR. Not fastest but probably easiest.

Cuz my dual rep faction domi barely tanks 'em and it tanks twice as more as the rock. I know, cuz I tested it. It is impossible to run missions in it and that's the end, sorry.
Provided a stationary target and 0 transversal, a gun with 60km optimal will do the exact same DPS at 60km as it will at 1km. You are wrong.

3x CN BCU 1x T2 PDS
1x Hydraulic bay thrusters 1x Rocket fuel cache partition
Tankwise i rarely have the need to run the capbooster
Damagewise with my (not maxed even out) skills it does 958dps before drones and has a 7461 alpha. And that's a fit that you can sure as hell improve upon with prettier faction eq and whatnot. I needed a 5% PG implant to fit it all tho.

Just throwing this out there, but a torp CNR can be quite lethal if you want to invest in it, heh. It's not a cheap setup, and you lose the tractor ability of the golem, but when it comes to raw DPS power, the CNR delivers.

No, I rarely touch the shield booster in my Raven. Hell, I've gone as many as 3 missions in a row without touching it. My Raven does missions just slightly slower than my Sentry Domi... a CNR could give the Domi a real run for it's money.
The Raven is a spectacular mission runner... I'm not sure why he's having to warp out with low shields.

I'm not sure why a few of you are so engaged in such a purely academic debate over the best tank. I barely fit a 350 DPS tank on my Paladin and that's overkill for almost every mission.
