The best way to learn to lead a gang is to just go ahead and do it. Sure you will probably get blitzed the first few times but you learn quickly good ways of doing things. The only thing to worry about is not getting disheartened when you do lose a couple of engagements.

There have been a lot of flames havent there :) But also there has been a massive amount of support and kicking of the flamers, so thank you everyone who has done that and realised all I'm doing is providing info for people.
I'm not trying to lead anything. I dont want to lead anything. What I'm doing is realising that currently there is a lot of text whizzing over the chat channels, a lot of questions, and as the new guys join up, there area a lot of the same questions coming about.
Common themes identified are that people want to get stuck into some fun action right away, they dont know really waht to fit, and they dont know how to get started. In the mean time there are about 20 posts in caps flying past shoutign to join various channels for various ops and none of it makes sense.
So, in light of the order we managed to instill earlier amongst the chaos, we found one person (silas) who was very willing to run a few little expeditions with some really basic T1 frigates/destroyers, and we foudn one guy who's dedicated to building loads of T1 ships and leaving them in a high sec station for everyone.
I've also created a channel for everyone new that comes in over the next few weeks to be able to ask all the new questions etc. New guys get an answer to their question this way, and the Militia and Corp channels are free to talk about more specific fights and intel etc.
It's worked great tonight so far. We ran a mission and compelted it, and also took a complex for the Amarr. Some people also got questions answered on the channel I set up.
And there's no obligations for anyone in the 24th Crusade to take orders from anyone else. All I've done is lay down some points of contacts for people to get started if they want.
So far it's been great and I thank everyone who took part tonight in a very successful fleet for the 24th.

I commend the 24th for showing the ability to step forward and say that they are willing to help players get into FW.
And Gallente & Minmatar folks - these are only POCs so they can't be primary. These folks are more like logistics people. One helps with training and one helps with supplies.

Yeah, if anyone's primary in the 24th, it's me. I fly ECM and have a name that lights up the top of local.
Flew with one of the organised groups earlier, everything went really well (aside from our scout heading off in a different direction due to bad autopilot settings  ) Had a lot of fun.

First off, we aren't making any claims at trying to run anything. We are merely trying to provide some organization for small gang activities and new members of the militia.
-We've established a base on the edge of the conflict area and are running regular missions into minmatar space, completing objectives and taking targets of opportunity/open complexes as they are available.
-As these are early complexes, we are primarily running inexpensive ship gangs, both to give new pilots a sense for PVP and to save some ISK for when we bring in our expensive gear later on.
I'm making no pretensions to grand strategy or organizing large-scale fleet battles, I'm just making repeated runs with small-ish gangs to get some work done. If this is your kind of thing, please look us up. If you are in the other militia, please look us up too, as we can always use a good fight. Let's not forget we are here to have fun, that's #1.
I'm on U.S. timezones, which means logging on around +/- 0:00 GMT most week nights.
Looking forward to working with some of the new people, and experienced pilots alike. This is going to be quite a bit of fun.

We don't care what you fly right now, and that goes for anyone. We care more about interested people who would like to build some community and teamwork. Someone flying a punisher who is going to stick around and be a part of the team is 100x more valuable than some idiot in an Abaddon who warps off by himself in the middle of a gang operation. Before downtime on the 11th we had a solid fleet lead by some great FCs (who shall remain nameless). Captured multiple outposts and won three fleet engagements decisively despite some unfavorable numbers. We need as many people as we can get, as we are definitely the underdogs. That said, we had great FCing and a target rich environment. Come and pew pew with us!

Okay so everyone knows what happened. I asked the GM's to set up a militia hanger for us to use so I could drop ships and gear off so those fighting wouldn't have to fly all over the universe to get back into the fight. They told me not possible at the moment. However, they did ask me to start a new topic thread in the Ideas section of the Forums, which I have. So, in the future that may be a possibility. Currently I have a bunch of punishers, executioners, and coercers (under production) for the war effort. Next week if all goes as planned or hoped, there will be omens in the mix.
If you have any thoughts on how we can passout this gear quickly so others may utilize them, toss me an ingame email.

I am returning after 4 years just because of FW. I flew with PIE back then. I thank you for the info and will try and hook up with you all tonight. I do need to move my stuff to a closer base of operations. I'll ask about that in the channel tonight.
