Hello,
I really don't get it, why there is such requirement for 0.5 'true' standing for faction you want to join?
While I would understand, why there is the requirement itself (would be strange if you are allowed in by the faction you killed too many ships of), isn't 0.5 too much? Take me for example - I play for 4-5 months, killed MANY asteroids rats, did 2-3, may be 4 storyline missions, did MANY nonstoryline missions for my faction, and I still have 0.33. In terms of what I did - I would say I'm very patriotic to my faction, but I still cannot join militia and unless I find some more storyline, I'm stuck for long.
Truly, there is a way to do it joining corp which is already in FW for my faction, but I simply would prefer not to (but seems I'll be forced to it).

0.5 is not a lot at all.
I did 2 months of lvl 4 grinding and got to 9.98...
Even just a few days of missions will get you up very quickly... Cadlari? FW? Alt? |

Non-storyline missions do not provide faction standings increases.
You are only 1 or 2 level 4 storyline missions away from joining faction warfare. Get them done and you should be good to go.

But how??? or is it because they're lvl4 missions? I swear I did ton of them, but only lvl 1 and 2, and 0.33 is all I got. (we're talkin about natural, not derived standing, right?)

Thats your problem right there. If you've been missioning for a couple of months you should be able to do 3s or at least 4s, which will move your faction up much faster. -----------------------------------------------

Level 1 and 2 missions give tiny standings increases.
Level 4 missions give much larger increases. One level 4 storyline missions should give you a 3-5% standings increase. Unless you got a pair of really low end level 4 storylines you should not need more than 2 of them to get your standings up.
You could continue working at lower level missions, but it will take much longer, as the standings increase are much smaller for lower level missions.

I would guess this is to encourage trial accounts to cough-up for a paid subscription.
You can grind some COSMOS missions for your faction and get to .5 faction standing fairly quickly, something a trial account player probably does not know about and cannot quite accomplish yet.

You think .5 is bad, I canÆt participate because I have 1 billion worth of implants in my clone and in order to get a jump clone I need a standing of 8.0 with an NPC corp which is 16x more. I have been doing faction missions for Rapid Assembly and have 8.5 standing with them and they have no Med Bays, just total BS itÆs like they do whatever they can to keep people out of F .W. |

How is that keeping you out? Sure you migh not want to with 1b in implants, but its not like they yoinked all the med bays from RA just so ppl who worked for RA couldn't have JCs and therefore... for some reason... became unable to participate.

What is your problem:
- You spent 1 billion on implants and cannot afford 5 million to use a jump clone service?
- You started grinding standings with Rapid Assembly to get your own jump clones, but didn't bother to check if they offered jump clones?
- Other self-inflected issues?

You can get to 0.5 in one or two days.
Do the introductory missions for that faction, then do 2 maybe 3 level 1 storylines.

or go to the State Data Centers and spend the money to buy the tags to boost your standings up almost instantly.
Or run some COSMOS missions.
Note that killing asteroid rats, mission rats, and doing non storyline missions does absolutely nothing to raise your faction standings.
Which sucks because there are plenty of players who missioned a ton as noobs but don't want to mission anymore and don't want to fw for the faction they originally ran missions for. To fw with the dudes I wana fw for is almost next to impossible for me due to this limitation.

Or, you can join a corp that has joined a militia. I'm pretty sure that the standings requirements only apply to the corp itself, not every member. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Oh for heaven's sake...
Yes, 0.5 standings to a faction can take simply HOURS of L1 mission grinding! Waah, teh nerfeverybodyhatesme/mycharacter/mybloodline/myrace.
And on top of that, why not find out stuff about, you know, stuff, before starting to cry about the absolutely insurmountable obstacle of a 0.5 faction standing (which, IMHO, is too low. When I first heard it I thought it was 5.0, which sounded OK by me).
Like the data centers: Linkage which give standings for money (you buy tags with money, then give them to the agents. I guess you could hunt rats for them, but gods forbid, that would involve actual WORK!). You did know about them, right? They've only been in the game since, ohh I don't know, 2002 or something. You can get your precious 0.5 standing in about 30 minutes of shuttling certificates and tags.
And to OP: The point of the standing is probably to cut down on various griefing tactics centered around using out-of-the-box alts to join enemy faction militias for espionage and sabotage.

I have a faction standing of .23 yesterday. I did 16 Missions and then my StoryLine
It raised me to .24
So 17 Missions gives me .01 raise, gee this is fun.
only 459 more missions to go before i can join in the FACTION ACTION

If you shoot your own militia ppl you will get a sec hit _and_ a hit for your militia standing. If you shoot more then one you will be out of that militia at next DT. Does that's answer your question? --
There are countless games in the world. There are at least as many ppl that dont like one or more rules of said games. That never stopped smart game designers from creating good games.

To be honest the requirement is bull**** anyway. This is meant to bea pvp activity, so why should I have to run missions before I can take part? - Violence isn't the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes. |

Lol, I logged in just now and, after reading this thread, thought I'd check my standings. 2.0 to Gallente Federation. "What?!", I think. "I've been playing for more than 2 years, done plenty of missions, and I've not even got enough to FW! Outrageous!". So I come back to this thread, and spot that decimal point. 0.5. Not 5.0. 0.5.
0.5 standings.
Thats laughably low. Honestly, how anyone can complain about 0.5 standings being a requirement to join the military of one of the Empires boggles the mind. ------

No they didn't but this is why I have 75 mil skill points and 324 skills and can fly any ship and use any weapon short of a Titan but I can use the DD.

2: They didn't force you to mission for a corp with no med bays.
Yes they did, what part about ôfactionö missions didnÆt you understand. Yes the very missions that you need to get your standing up to play FW are given by a NPC Corp that have no jump clone facilities, really does that make sense?
Originally by: Theo Samaritan[/quote
3: If this is a troll, 7/10, its believable.
Am I up to at least 9/10
My point is I am the exact type of player they are trying to get into FW but:
1.I have to leave my corp of which I am a Director.
2.I have to have a Faction standing of .5, I have a +8.9 but while I am spending my time doing those I could have done missions for the Caldari Navy. At least they have Med Bays in the support facilities even though there are only 3 in all of Black Rise.
3.You need a standing of +8 with an NPC Corp to use their clone facilities to use a jump clone and a lot of people donÆt realize that not all NPC corps have Med bays.
I know itÆs only the second day but out of about 450,000 (220000 accounts X 2.1) active characters only 9000 have signed up so far how many because of the conditions above.

Wow, FW has a ton of critical flaws, but requiring a 0.5 standing isn't one of them. Just a couple of low level COSMOS missions will get you there. Two hours, max.
