I Currently run missions in my Raven and salvage in a Catalyst. I find on some of the bigger missions even with my Catalyst having all T2 cargo expanders I need to make 2-3 runs to salvage everything. What would a good Cruiser or Battle cruiser Galante or Caldari that would have a good cargo capacity so I can salvage in 1-2 runs? I still want to fit 4 tractor beams and 4 salvagers. |

Have one Tractor Beam dedicated too a can where you drop all the stuff. Then when you're done with it, get your hauler :) |

I would say that the Drake is your best option from those races, but it lacks the low slots for cargo expanders.
It should not take more than a couple of days to get Minmatar Cruiser III. Well worth it as the Hurricane is probably the best salvage ship aside from the Mauraders. |

Edited by: Tacit Blue on 12/06/2008 20:52:44 If you are running in a Raven, can I assume that you ran level 3 with a Drake? Use that drake with 4 salvagers, 4 tractors, 3 cargo expanders II, a 100NM MWD, and a bunch of Cap chargers in the mids.
I get a bit under 1000 m3 of cargo for salvage and that pretty much allows me to clear an entire level 4 mission.
The good thing is that you neither have to train additional skills or spend another 30 million isk on a hurricane (though that is the better salvager of the two). Try that and good luck. |

I have used a Hurricane and a Harbinger to good effect. I see no reason why a Brutix couldn't be highly effective as well. In the cruiser class, the Stabber works very well, as does the Exequror. |

Catalyst is better. Slightly more cargo with full expanders, a hair faster, and has a spare midslot after you fit a MWD for a Cap Recharger so you can run the Salvagers full tilt longer without capping out. Remember, you can bookmark a wreck in each room and come back after you turn the mission in, so you never have to salvage in deadspace. That means you don't need the oversized AB which makes your ship handle like a plated BS. |

I'll see your sacrilege and raise you a salvaging Claymore (yes I really do use that).
3x Tractor Beam, 2x Salvager, 3x Shield Warfare Links T2 10Mn AB, Invuln II, Ballistic II, 2x LSE II 4x Cargo Expander II 2x Salvage Tackle
Tough enough to follow right behind my CNR, but usually lags behind a bit. The extra tank I get for the gang mods means that I can stroll through every mission with ease.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

Just an update: I chose to go with a Brutix (Partially due to the good looks of the ship *snicker* but also due to a couple of the posts here, and the fact that a corp mate basically gave me one)...
Thanks for the tips all, made this a decnt thread :)

I'd have switched the Raven to a Golem and salvaged in-mission. It's pretty wierd - you end up ignoring the NPCs and have to concentrate on the swarm of cargo cans you've got tractored around you / salvaving, then occasionly go "oh... need more targets... f1-f4"

I dont have the skills yet for a golem, but am looking forward to it. Don't have the patience to save enough isk for a CNR either... |

Actually the 4:4 concept is a bit flawed.
I've found that running an equal number of tractor beams/salvagers runs me sitting with salvagers unused.
Believe it or not a Vexor is a really good option. Dual expanders gives you 780 m3 and you still have two extra slots for either more expanders or an armor repairer/nanofiber. Mid slots you can put an AB/MWD and whatever else you see fit and 3 tractor beams/2 salvagers in the high slots and you'll still find yourself very busy but agile enough to move.
Finally with 100m3 of drone space you actually have something to use to fight with or assist your crew with (read: armor/shield repair drones). This gives you a more versatile role in your fleet instead of just floating around while the gunfire is going off on all sides.
My fit:
High: 2 salvagers, 3 Tractor Beams Mid: 10MN AB II, Stasis Webifier, Cap Recharger II Low: Med. Armor Repairer II, Nanofiber II, 2 Cargo Expander IIs
Drones: 5 Med Armor Maintenance Bots, 5 Med Shield Maintenance Bots.
If you do expand to a larger ship, consider (if 8 slots) 5 tractor beams and 3 salvagers. You are more efficient that way by toggling your tractor beams onto things that are farther away while your salvagers work the things under 1500m from you. When you're done just consolidate the loot into a single can and drag it or dump it into your cargohold. |

i user a cormorant with 4 tractors and 4 salvagers when i run out of room i jettison a can and "sacrifice" a tractor to carry the jet-can with me (albiet this limits the speed to around 500) this way i salvage all the mission in one go stacking up the can. and when i finish salvaging i come with an industrial and clean the can
i find this the fastest way

Drake works excellently for loot salvage. Not quite as good as 'cane, but it's close, and I was already trained for drake.
