hi,
i have a question about the advanced learning skills due in the shiva patch... what is known about them?
to train say memory advanced will i need memory skill to level 5 or do i need all the learning skills to level 5 to train that 1?
and i take it they would be +1 attributes?

Nothing is know about them apart from the information in Eve-db.
To learn, say Advanced spatial Awareness (Clarity, it's called), you will need Spatial Awareness lvl 5. ASA will add 1 to the attribute.
The skill itself will be rank 3, meaning it will take a while to train to lvl 5. Depending on the time you're planning to play eve, you could contemplate training some to lvl 5. It also depends on how your attributes are distributed (It'll take me around 14 days, whilst it'll take my girlfriend about 28 to train a Adv learnign skill to lvl 5).

ta for that, i just thought i might ask as i was under the impression you need all learning skills at 5 to train 1.. that means training up charisma to level 5 uhg :(

Is this really a fact or are everyone just ass-uming? I haven't read anything by a dev/gm/[insert a reliable source] that advanced learning skills really _are_ coming out with Shiva. training the normal learning skills to 5 will roughly pay off after a half year of playing.
but with rank 3 in advanced learning: 1 1/2 year?
i want to stick long to eve, but that long?

Just don't train to level 5, I'm sure level 4 will be worth it (it will for me).

The learning skills -- aside from learning itself -- will pay off after anywhere from one to three months of training skills using that stat as a primary, if I recall the math I did when I was training 'em properly. Remember, further, that the advanced skills will still scale up in the usual exponential fashion, -and- that training up advanced mem and int will accelerate the skilltraining further. So -- skilltraining times for levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 will probably be around thirty minutes, two and a half hours, half a day and three days, to be very rough with it. For another 4 points in a stat? Personally, I -want- these skills. I want them now.

Most skills are now taking days to finish and the longer ones taking a week or more to train to the next level. New learning skills will give me another goal to set and get them finished.

you do not get me i think.
will the time you invest in the advanced learning skills, pay off in a reasonable amount of time? (lets say under a year or so.)
6-7 month earlier i finished all learning to 5 which now pays off.
but how long will it take to that advanced learning skills pay off? the achivemnt of better stats is not exponential, it is plain linear, if i recall right. (got to check that later with a skill calc.)

I'd only train to lvl 4 unless u are really really bored and can't think of a thing more usefull then spending 15 days to train something that might cut time down by a couple min per day.
Lvl 4 of the skill will be more worth it then anything.
Edit: Just think thats a standard implant that u can't loose ever (unless u forget clone update)

LOL well then im getting paid off in Spades Every Single one of my learning skills is at 5 Except Charisma and let me tell you it knocks Many DAYS off of your level 5 training.

The most important rule is to train the intelligence and memory skills first, so you can learn the rest of the learning skills/adv. learning skills faster. This also decreases the "pay-off"-time a lot.

they should be changed to what the ori poster sais, without a lotta silltraining anyone could train them, basicly screwing the special things.  .

Depends on how you look at it... If my gf says "I want to learn a skill with my newb character" I seriously have to consider letting her, which means pausing MY character's training. She definitely needs to get a comp that can run eve and an account...

I really hope they can release the adv. learning skills before Shiva (as Shiva is like 6 months away maybe), they would be VERY useful with the incoming massive amount of new skills they wish to implement and I think that since their requirements are pretty steep, they would not imbalance the game too much but reward those that really invested in speeding up learning skills.

Oh, man, do I know how you feel. My gf has an alt char on my acct. She insists on getting skill-training time. I told her to get her own account, and she pointed out that we only have one computer at the moment. That should change soon, but until then...
