Now with the release of the Omen Navy Issue we have three big laser cruiser platforms. The zealot currently being the least expensive, the Phantasm the most. So, which one of them is the best, and for what?
I got the feeling the Omen Navy Issue is completely inferior to the Zealot, except maybe against smaller ships because of the 25m drone bay. The Phantasm still has the best alpha and tracking I believe, so vOv.
Has anyone taken a look into the ONI to see how it compare to the others? I'm not an expert in the amarr mechanics, but I'm very curious about this.

I guess it's a matter of taste.
I personally would rank them: Omen, Phantasm and then zealot. That said they obviously all have uses and appliances. Parrots, commence!

I'd personally take the phantasm but I like shield buffers.

Actually the phantasm only has superior tracking if hac is at lvl 0, 50% optimal bonus results in better tracking per km than the 7.5% on the phanty, ths is however only true if you're flying your ship at range (which being fair is watch scorch is for), if you prefer to be up close then the phanty wins. Totally different ships really, it is after all a mini marauder.
Navy omen is (for me at least) just a fun ship but will be a serious toy in fw, for a ti cruiser it's damage output is utterly insane, with a tank to back it up. It's not exactly cap stable though. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

Phantasm and omen navy too much expensive for pvp. Phantasm haven't enough pg/capa to be a great pvp ship (you want mwd and just 3 low for heat sink) Omen navy expensive, not enough pg, again need to nano it like zealot.
zealot good dps, not enough pg/cpu, fast, the least expensive.
No versatile ship.

Phantasm, not enough PG? Considering that it has slightly more than 200 PG left after fitting it with a full rack of heavy pulses, 1 10mn MWD II and 1 Medium Injector it's in far better condition than most laser ships.
...actually lets make that "Better condition than any laser ship barring other sansha ships". It has more powergrid than the Maller, but only needs to support 3 turrets. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. Phantasm =
Difficult to fit a real tank : actif tank? not enough capa + mwd (med cap inj not enough) passif tank? oki i have 2 lse II (10k shield, need pg rig), bad shield recharge.
Not a fast ship : you can put 2x overdrive/2x polycarbon rigs (3500 m/sec) but 2 overdrive = not enough charge 400/800, 3/4 maybe 800) and you need to sacrifice dps cause just 3 low slot (and no enough pg to fit a large cap battery)
Phantasm = ship for pve can be good for that (lvl3? no more)
I love the look of this ship, great damage boat too (i have caldari/amarr cruiser lvl5) but for pvp, phantasm can have some problem. zealot just better option (prize/speed/damage but no versatile)

I'd say go with zealot, but only if you have the support skills, nano it or you'll run in to serious fitting problems. Either way it's paper thin and has crap survivability for a 100-200 mil ship. They're all crap for solo imo, and if you use them in a fleet, you'll kinda be primary after the recons and deimoses :)) Train for sacrilege or curse (only for small gangs) if you like amarr so much.
I'm sorry, did I say u could speak ? |

I think it's still to early to say anything definitive about the Navy Omen since people are still messing around with fittings for it. Huge potential though (500+ dps w. FMPII and drones is nothing to sneeze at). The five light drones is a massive plus compared to the Zealot as it opens up for interceptor defence with Warrior II's or all out gank using EC-300. I am very much looking forward to see what people do with this in the coming months.
Zealot is and will always be a beast and with prices being like are ... The three midslots forces a choice between scram and web which is annoying to say the least. One of the premier HACs available thanks to the the 5th turret. Can be plated for 50k effective hitpoints or nanoed to 3+k/s - not as versatile as the Sacrilege but close.
Phantasm is shield tanked so PvP fitting sacrifices defense. Twin extenders, heavy pulse, invulnerability field, faction crystals and navy heat sinks are the order of the day. I almost killed an Astarte on SiSi while testing FW thanks to the surprise 500dps on a T1 cruiser represents. Use the corny EC-300 drones, the erratic jam cycles are a godsend.

If you cant fit a zealot, It doesnt mean others cant ! It has plenty of PG and cpu to fit Heavy beams/pulses and do 500-620 DPS insta damage ! I hate whiners, nerf this, nerf that. This way one day all of us we will be flying ibis-es of doom

2 LSE and 1 invun will easily fit with no rigs (who needs the injector) and then you can either fit extennder or hardener rigs to get about 35k effective HP on shields. Yes your recharge won't be that great but it ain't a half bad buffer.

Why speed fit it in the first place. Assuming the guy your fighting isn't speed fitted it's faster than every other cruiser apart from stabber or ruppy (ruppy generally has plate anyways which means your even faster than him).

Actually so much spare grid and an extra rig slot means you can actually use damage rigs on it, 600 dps with tii is more than reasonable, 700+ is possible with some cheap implants and some faction so really it's a laser deimos with better range and more hp ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |
