I can only guess CCP upped the range of sentry guns to 150km to beat the gate camping pirates. However.. now you are not able to hunt NC convoys anymore without getting insta killed by station sentrys.
The convoy will warp away as long as they are within range of 150km of the sentry guns. This makes the convoys totally useless in the game other than being a cute lil optical effect when you hang around a space station.
Please:
1. Let the convoys travel out of sentry range before going to warp (disappear).
or
2. Set station sentry guns back to 50km range and leave the gate sentry guns at 150km and higher.
Opinions?

No, you need to hunt in teams now - one person sitting 150k away from a sentry will be able to whack a convoy with no problems at all - then his partner can swoop in and collect the spoils.
If you don't have that sort of range, remember that you don't have to be 150k from the CONVOY in order to munt them, just 150k from the sentries. So set up an intercept point, and whack them from about 60/70km instead.
It's quite simple really.

Edited by: sableye on 11/05/2004 13:09:38 I went hunting convoys for first time last night, well i never shot anything because I don't have the range but other members of the corp used cruise missles, they just stayed at about 160km away from sentries they never had any problems, you need a hauler to go and pick up the stuff though as they can't move within range for a bit, and I was setting up the next attack point at another station so they can warp in at 160-170km and start the cycle again, it was pretty fun.

Is hunting convoys worth the time and security hit? Do you get average loot or anything of intrest?

well we did'nt get much of intrest although it might be worth a bit refined, I was told though you sometimes get lucky and hit a real good hauler.
I don't think you lose security status either, you do standings against the faction the haulers belong too though.

NPC Haulers have a small (1-2%) chance of dropping a blueprint.
