Someone needs to pick up a mining laser cus I'm sure as hell not doing it, ans I have ships ans Mods to build.

I saw 6-7 hulks just today mining in high HIGH sec while I was running missions. Most of the bots are NOT gone, just a healthy chunk of them. I remember after the unholy wrath or fury or w/e the **** it was when implant prices skyrocketed. They leveled soon after a bit higher.
Drone mins were a mistake from day 1. The drone regions created a null sec power block that, because of its wealth and longevity, was nearly invincible. Too much isk from ratting and not mining reduced the desire and value for miners.
Oh, and since you are obviously a forum warrior and not a real player, there are PLENTY of miners mining and if the drone regions are bereft of their min drops, the miners will only increase.
No **** mining is dull, but that is separate from your argument here. People love dull//non-interactive **** if it makes money. |

Someone needs to pick up a mining laser cus I'm sure as hell not doing it, ans I have ships ans Mods to build. Mining is inherently relaxing and there are many more click-intensive ways to make a little bit more money for the effort. Reprocessing is fine. In fact, I'd say reprocessing needs a good whack with the nerf bat (why do navies have better quality refineries than mining corporations?). Mining's fine. As mineral prices go up, more miners will get their fleets out of mothballs to make some easy ISK.
I dunno. There's nothing relaxing about waiting for the inevitable gank. No one is safe in a hulk. Time to-áCOMPLETELY REDESIGN THE U.I. FROM SCRATCH: - End the click fest & Multiple Window fest - Streamline and Simplify it-á - Improve scalability-á |

My best guess, mineral prices stabilize when mining hit 110m isk/hour. That's going to be an hell of a ride getting there though (and not going to do anything good for the game). |

Which, for null-sec ABCs, assuming that you're talking pulling in 150k m3 of ore per hour (per hulk, with orca/rorqual boosts) would put the price target for ABCs at about 730 ISK/m3. We're only at around 267 / 287 / 353 for the ABCs right now. That means that the ABCs will have to at least double in value. To do that, you'd need mineral prices at around:
Trit - 6.67 (but that makes Veld worth 200 ISK/m3, which is probably not sustainable).
Nocx - 800-900 ISK/u. Which it hasn't seen, ever. The best it hit since Dec 2009 was around 550. But demand is a lot higher then it was back then, so maybe it will get to 900 ISK/u.
Zydrine - If this goes up to 1200-1300 and stays there, it will do very good things for the ABC ore values. Back in Dec 2009, it was around 1675. Removal or trimming back of drone poo drops might actually put it back up there.
Megacyte - Used to be worth 3600 ISK/u back in Dec 2009, but is only 2600 ISK/u right now. If that goes back up to 3600 ISK/u territory, then that will boost the ABC values nicely.
Morphite is the other mineral that might change, but it doesn't appear in ore.
I can't see hi-sec ores staying above 150-175 ISK/m3 for very long. People will flock to mining the ores again once they get up closer to 200 ISK/m3, which will lead to over-supply, and Trit / Pye prices will crash right back down again. |

Just as an indication of how non-relaxing mining can be, let me tell you a story.
Last night, one of my associates found some grav sites of interest to me (Hed and Hemo in hisec, that is where all my Zydrine comes from). So off I go with a couple of hulks and an orca, only there is someone there already! In MY grav site! So I focussed all the strip miners on the rocks the other guy was mining and ran 1/3 cycles. This way I was able to pop rocks before he could finish a cycle. For those who care, the site was a "small" site, which meant enough ore to fill an Orca: this translates to about 20M ISK.
Mining doesn't need to be made "more interesting," since it is already as exciting as it can be without turning into actual space combat with ships blowing up. |

I think reprocessing needs another kick in the mouth espeically module kind and especially in high sec.

Rico Minali wrote:So, your complaining that botting is going, minerals wont all come from one source (drone regions) and that mining will once again be a proffesion worthy of players time?
Thats sort of odd.
No, that part of it is all really great. Where it all falls down is the fact that it's super trendy to gank miners these days, and everyone and their auntie is doing it. Exhumers being so incredibly flimsy and vulnerable to suicide ganks is the reason you barely ever see mining ships any more. That and botting bans of course.
I've got nothing against suicide ganks and would never suggest preventing it, but miners DO need some sort of fighting chance. Time to-áCOMPLETELY REDESIGN THE U.I. FROM SCRATCH: - End the click fest & Multiple Window fest - Streamline and Simplify it-á - Improve scalability-á |
