ON missions is there anyway to farm rats. LIke if i find good rats that have good salvaging is there anyway to make them respawn. I noticed on some of the level 1 drone missions if you dont kill the drone hives they will spawn more but eventually they seemed to not spawn at all after a while.

Yes. Don't complete the mission (a green message will appear in the mission briefing if you have) and come back after the following downtime. The mission will have reset itself.
Of course you'll lose the mission bonus, so make sure the salvage and bounties are worth more than that.

Just don't turn in the mission. Come back the next day, every day until it is about to expire.

Basicly, ya.
The only catch is that often killing everything will cause the mission to be flagged as complete.
As a specific example, if you find Worlds Collides to be profitable, you can farm the first two pockets: kill everything and salvage, just leave the last pocket untouched.
You can then keep coming back to the mission until it expires.
I don't know how often each mission will respawn, but I do know that they full respawn at downtime, as the detailed status of the mission is stored on the node, not the database. Only if the journal entry shows "complete" will the mission not respawn at downtime.

At the lower levels, I would say it is better to just salvage the mission once, turn it in, get another mission so you can also be building standing.

This is probably a good idea. Once you are doing level 3 missions it might start to get more profitable to let the mission respawn at downtime, it also really depends on the mission as well. The majority of the missions will be better to just knock out and go on to the next one, but occasionally a mission will come up where farming it daily is actually better. Also this really all depends on how much time you have to play per day. If you only have a limited amount of time, getting a known good mission like worlds collide and farming it for a few days can be handy. |

you can kill everything but one ship and it wont complete (I will leave you to figure out what one ship that is)
