I am not really a role player, (I consider anyone who thinks pirates or lawful players are "bad" to be role players) as such I genrally have no interest in storys and storylines. However this recent bit of story telling has left me looking forward to the next bit of news from the universe. I especially liked the brainless actress explanation for the imperial apoc showing up for bigs auction, esp with the whiny posts about it here on the boards of late. I sort of imagined the chagrined players being the Amarr in the story promising to find out how some witless actress had gotten their finest ship. It was great.
This idea with the Jove bits is really quite bright too, I think its a winning idea for tieing the storyline to peoples actions. Whenever you want to introduce a new story arc that results in some change, toss a couple items into everyone hangers and later use those items to get the new technology in some fashion. It lets poeple imagine what the parts will be used for, people speculate in them and everyone is suddendly discussing the universe and where the plot is going. As you may know the most enjoyable part of playing a game is usually fantasizing about what you might get, or how someday you'll have this or that thing. The jove bits idea is causing the whole community to fantasize about what might be coming, and that is very good for the game imo. Good job CCP!~
I must admit I am enjoying the EVE universe more now that I have a reason to care about the storyline, as I have a decent collection of jove parts for our corp already. Once again, good job CCP. : )

agree, i just came back to the game yesterday (to stay this time), and read up on eve-online for an hour or so, i was really surprised, i mean, back when i used to play they had like a news item every other day or so, mostly boring but still, and now i see pretty much daily news that actually seems to impact, or as it will impact, the gameworld we all live in, GREAT work! God i gotta change my sig..

I think they're good at the moment.
The Minmatar/Amarrian storylines a FAR better than Gallente/Caldari ones though.

I have to agree, CCP seems to be finally getting its RP act together, although I do think they're still missing a few tricks....
twenty thousand people migrate to a planet, do you not think that demand for foodstuffs/constructions materials would increase?
would the "Protectors" of that planet have to keep it well supplied to avoid all those people moving away again?
still a way to go, but getting better

Perhaps you can do better?
Did you apply to the Intergalactic Correspndent team? If so, why didn't you get accepted? You're not a Carrol fan?

There was a lot of fighting. Some new technology showed up. There was much whining on the boards. THE END

I am not really interested in storyline - CCP should rather work on shiva, so that it will be released in may as predicted! __________ InGame: BPANTHER || www.the-black-panthers.de

And what's wrong with Alice in Wonderland? It's widely considered to be among the greatest works of metaphorical fiction in the English language.

they're better, not good. theres been tons of storys that intreaged me, and thats even storys that where pretty class B-like. but EVE's story has never even touched a hair to me --- "this song reminds me of the girl i met on a schooltrip, she was really nice, and she really liked me. Which doesn't necessarily make it suck. People differ in opinion, you know.
Somehow, I think I wouldn't like the sort of stories you like... ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

20k players? maybe more? 10k on at a time? it's utterly impossible o get that many people to agree on hopw good a story is..
hell. get 10 people in a room, and you'll get 11 opinions as to the quality of any story
ccp are doing a god job of it considering.

would you pay for a ticket in first class if the stewards wherent there? the "stewards" are part of what makes or breakes eve to... and they are defenitly improving
currently recruiting euro players. |

It was a stupid analogy - I already kwon that the "stewards" are important and they indeed do a great job, but the storyline isn't that interesting to me.

The news on The People's Republic of Minmatar is exactly what is needed, a cautious first step. We will see if CCP can improve the good work in the future.
Player organizations and activities can be publicized like this because they more or less fit and add to the storyline.

Agreed, great job on improving the immersiveness of the story. When I first joined Eve the story was all rather distant and really didn't touch me in any way. Recently, with improvements in involving players this has changed. Witness the CVA and PRoM news items. Very engaging to me, being Amarrian and part of the CVA
One minor complaint is the lack of Caldari/Gallente story lines that mean anything. The Amarr/Minnie story has a central point about slavery which is very captivating. The Caldari and Gallente story lines are so far fairly... boring for lack of a better term. Hopefully the Imperial Apoc Amarr/Gallente crossover will spice things up a bit!
Keep up the good work!
